Chapter 149: The Bond That Burns
DARIUS'S POV
The sky roared with thunder, matching the tension writhing in my chest.
I stood at the top of the ridge overlooking the battlefield—a place that, hours ago, was nothing but rolling hills and forest. Now? Flames crackled in the distance, smoke curled into the twilight sky, and the wind carried the metallic stench of blood. My warriors gathered behind me, all marked with wounds of their own, but they stood strong. Loyal. Unwavering.
And yet, my heart trembled.
Because I couldn't find her.
"Still no sign?" I asked Rhazien, who returned from the scouting team.
His usually confident expression faltered. "No. Not Alpha Celeste, not the witch... nothing. It's like they vanished."
Vanished.
Or taken.
My claws dug into my palm. The enemy had planned this. They lured us here with a false message. And we walked right into their trap. They wanted to separate us. They wanted to isolate Celeste.
They wanted her dead.
