Registeel had no idea what Roy was thinking. It was simply following the orders of the Tree of Beginning, carefully recording the unique aura signatures of Roy and his Pokémon. The Steel-type Legendary marked them as 'allies' in its internal database, ensuring they wouldn't trigger its defensive protocols in the future.
Soon, the other two guardians arrived at their location. Three towering golems of different compositions now stood together, their imposing forms casting long shadows as they observed the human and his team.
The three patrolling security guards of the Tree of Beginning had finally assembled.
Roy's curiosity got the better of him, and he asked, "Isn't your father, the 'Sacred Pillar King' Regigigas, here with you?"
Mew glanced at him with obvious surprise, clearly not expecting Roy to possess such extensive knowledge about Legendary Pokémon. However, considering the numerous divine auras that seemed to cling to Roy like invisible badges of honor, Mew's surprise quickly faded into understanding.
The Three Divine Pillars reacted with their characteristic stoic calm. The distinctive dot patterns on their faces flickered several times as they communicated through their ancient language. After a brief consultation, they unanimously designated Registeel as their spokesperson.
"Chirrut," came the mechanical response.
Registeel explained that their father was not present in this realm, and that they hadn't seen the Sacred Pillar King for an incredibly long time. There was a subtle note of longing in the Steel-type's voice, though it was nearly impossible to detect through its robotic intonation.
Roy nodded thoughtfully, recalling various rumors he'd heard about the Crown Tundra spiritual realm. "Do you know about Regieleki and Regidrago? They've already manifested in our world. Very soon, they might..."
The existence of the Thunder Divine Pillar and Dragon Divine Pillar in the Crown Tundra was hardly a secret among those who paid attention to Legendary Pokémon movements.
The Three Divine Pillars exchanged glances, their facial patterns flickering rapidly in what could only be described as obvious surprise and excitement.
"Chirrut," Registeel responded, its voice carrying more emotion than usual.
The Steel Divine Pillar expressed genuine joy at hearing news of their younger siblings. However, it explained with a touch of melancholy that their sworn duty was to protect the Tree of Beginning, preventing them from leaving to reunite with their two brothers.
Registeel requested that if Roy ever had the opportunity, he should convey their greetings to Regieleki and Regidrago.
"No problem at all," Roy replied without hesitation.
Roy was always happy to help with such requests. After the summer national competition concluded, he was definitely planning to visit the Crown Tundra at least once.
He was already imagining the conversation: "Hey, Regieleki and Regidrago, I'm a colleague of your big brothers. Want to be friends?"
His biggest character flaw, if it could be called that, was his genuine love for making friends, especially with divine beings. The more powerful and legendary, the better.
Especially after receiving blessings from Latias and Ho-Oh, Roy had come to understand that these 'gods' were incredibly generous creatures. They rarely minded sharing their knowledge and power with those they considered friends, often giving gifts freely without expecting anything in return.
Mew interrupted his conversation with the Three Divine Pillars, bringing the discussion back to their previous topic with a melodic trill.
"Miao! What payment do you want?"
Looking at Mew and the three towering pillars, Roy fell into deep contemplation.
Within this Tree of Beginning spiritual domain, the greatest opportunities were undoubtedly these four beings who had achieved divine status.
But what kind of rewards could he possibly obtain from them?
Roy began mentally cataloging the special characteristics of each of these four legendary beings.
Mew was proficient in every move that existed in the world and could transform into any species of Pokémon. Its power level ranked among the very highest of all divine beings, second only to the Supreme God tier.
However, because Mew's level was so extraordinarily high, Roy wasn't sure what he could realistically learn from it.
Mew's abilities were largely based on natural talent that couldn't be replicated or taught. The pink Legendary's way of being simply couldn't be mimicked by others.
Additionally, Mew's playful personality wasn't particularly suited for teaching. Roy could already envision how any training session would go: "Let's practice moves until dawn" would quickly become "Let's play until dawn."
On the other hand, the Three Divine Pillars seemed to offer more tangible learning opportunities.
Roy's eyes lit up as he remembered the unique origins of the Three Divine Pillars.
All the sacred pillars were golem titans crafted from special materials by the Sacred Pillar King, Regigigas, in ancient times.
Registeel was constructed from a special metallic structure that had been compressed underground for tens of thousands of years.
This gave it unparalleled defensive capabilities, making its defense the strongest among all divine pillars.
Regice was formed from extreme ice that couldn't be melted even by the most intense flames. Legend said that the item "Never-Melt Ice" had originally fallen from its body.
This allowed it to control frigid air approaching the temperature of Sheer Cold, capable of freezing anything that came into contact with it.
Regirock was composed of special stones that could heal themselves by absorbing and devouring other rocks.
This granted it an essentially immortal body, as long as it fought on terrain with rock formations, it would never truly die.
Setting Regirock aside for the moment, since Roy's team didn't include any Pokémon with Rock-type attributes, the specialties of 'steel' and 'ice' were definitely relevant.
"Registeel," Roy said, turning to address the Steel-type directly, "can you make Metagross's body similar to yours?"
Roy's question caused both Registeel and Metagross to freeze momentarily, then slowly turn to look at each other with newfound interest.
Now that Roy mentioned it, the similarities were obvious.
Both were mechanical lifeforms constructed from special metals, sharing remarkably similar physiological structures.
After a long moment of contemplative silence, Registeel provided its answer.
"Chirrut... no."
Before Roy could feel disappointed, Registeel added another statement.
"But... let it endure what I endured."
The same tempering process that had forged Registeel meant subjecting Metagross to the crushing pressure of deep underground layers, using that intense environment to strengthen and refine its metallic body.
Roy was startled and immediately asked with concern, "Is it life-threatening?"
Registeel shook its head, indicating that while the process would be extremely challenging, it wouldn't pose a fatal risk.
Upon hearing the ominous phrase 'life-threatening,' Metagross suddenly felt that something was terribly wrong and became visibly alert.
"Huh?" it asked weakly, wanting to know exactly what kind of tempering method this would involve.
Metagross was stunned when it learned that it would need to follow Registeel deep underground.
Its mind immediately filled with worried thoughts: 'What if there's an Earthquake?' and 'I'm going to be crushed to death!'
Seeing Metagross's obvious distress, Roy gently embraced his Steel-type partner and said with a warm smile, "Do you remember the promise we made that day in front of Ho-Oh?"
"Um," Metagross nodded, and the vivid memory of that day floated before its eyes.
It had been a Beldum at the time, making a grand promise to fight for freedom and to one day surpass even Ho-Oh in strength.
"Believe me," Roy continued earnestly, "if you want to fulfill that promise, you must seize this opportunity."
Metagross looked directly into Roy's eyes, remembering all the time they had spent together, all the battles they had fought side by side, and nodded with heavy determination.
"Huh!" it declared firmly.
"Very good," Roy said, patting its head with relief and pride.
Next, it was Regice's turn.
"Regice, can your freezing abilities be taught to Ninetales?"
Upon hearing this request, Regice turned to examine Ninetales, and the glowing dots on its face began flickering in a complex pattern.
Ninetales let out a soft whimper, sensing a spiritual force attempting to scan and analyze its internal structure.
Out of natural feminine modesty, Ninetales initially wanted to refuse the intrusive examination. However, it suddenly remembered that the pillars, like Metagross, existed beyond the concept of gender, so it relaxed and allowed the scan to proceed.
Regice carefully observed Ninetales's capabilities in all aspects, and was genuinely surprised to discover that this particular Ninetales had been extraordinarily well-trained. In terms of spiritual power and ice-type energy affinity, it was truly exceptional, far surpassing other Pokémon of comparable level.
What Regice couldn't know was that due to Ninetales's unique birth experience, it possessed remarkably powerful spiritual talents, granting it an unusually high degree of control over energy manipulation.
Furthermore, since birth, Ninetales had been consuming specially crafted energy cubes designed to develop its 'Snow Warning' ability. Its affinity for Ice-type energy had grown to an truly astonishing level over time.
Moreover, Latias had also used its divine power to bless the young Pokémon.
Ninetales's talents in these two crucial aspects were already approaching the level typically found in Legendary Pokémon.
"Wy!" Regice declared with obvious approval.
The Ice Divine Pillar confirmed that if it was this particular Ninetales, the techniques could indeed be learned successfully.
As for other Pokémon, Regice wasn't entirely certain they would be able to master such advanced techniques.
"Then please, I'm counting on you," Roy said with genuine gratitude.
At the same time, Regirock, who had been quietly observing from the side, noticed that both of its companions had been entrusted with important teaching tasks. Thinking that it must be its turn next, it proactively stepped forward to stand directly in front of Roy.
"Locke? (What about me?)" it asked with obvious eagerness.
"Well..." Roy paused, clearly struggling with this one.
He thought for a while, then asked tentatively, "Your body is immortal, right?"
Regirock nodded enthusiastically: "Locke!"
Roy said with diplomatic tact, "Would you consider serving as a move tester?"
Regirock's response was immediate: "?"
When I put a question mark, it's not because I have a problem, but because you have a problem, Roy!
How could a divine being be subjected to such humiliation!
"Miao!" Mew laughed cheerfully, seeing that Roy had received satisfactory rewards from the exchange.
After all, it was the humans who would be doing the hard work, so Mew had nothing to lose from this arrangement.
At that moment, Mew was suddenly taken aback, turning to gaze toward the distant sky with sharp attention.
There were humans approaching the spiritual realm... quite a few of them, in fact.
