Professional-level Pokémon experience three distinct high-speed growth periods during which their ability values increase rapidly and dramatically.

After reaching the S3 stage, trainers who wish to advance to the next level must focus on one crucial element: mastering what experts call 'advanced energy'.

Under Cole's detailed explanation, Roy gradually began to understand what this so-called "advanced energy" truly meant.

Earth, Fire, Water, Ice, Rock, Dragon, Fighting, Psychic...

These eighteen attribute energies are collectively known as basic energies in the Pokemon world.

The vast majority of Pokémon improve their abilities in all aspects as they grow stronger. They enhance their proficiency with various moves, and their overall strength continues to increase steadily. However, the energy they utilize throughout this process remains fundamentally the same basic power they started with.

For example, Blastoise's current Water Gun attack has undoubtedly become far more powerful than the same move it used during its time as a Squirtle. The force behind the attack has grown tremendously through training and evolution.

But the core energy that Blastoise uses has never actually changed in its fundamental nature.

If we consider that the energy intensity of its Water Gun during the Squirtle period was measured at one hundred units, then the energy intensity of Blastoise's Water Gun now would measure approximately ten thousand units.

However, the basic unit of measurement remains exactly the same.

In other words, when it comes to energy development, Blastoise has only improved in quantity rather than quality. The Pokemon has become more powerful, but the nature of its power source has remained static.

"Of course, this pattern isn't absolute," Cole explained thoughtfully. "There are certain Pokemon species that possess natural gifts when it comes to energy manipulation. These Pokemon are born with powers that are inherently superior to basic energy types. You should have encountered examples of this during your battles, haven't you?"

Roy nodded in understanding, recalling several memorable encounters.

Typhlosion and Torkoal's 'Rage' represented a special type of flame that incorporated intense emotional energy. This wasn't simply fire - it was fire infused with the raw power of anger itself.

The 'Mystical Fire' mastered by Delphox and Mismagius demonstrated another variation - a special flame that incorporated spiritual and psychic energy, making it far more potent than ordinary fire attacks.

These were all phenomena that Roy had personally witnessed and fought against in battle.

The Medicham owned by the renowned Indian master Alora possessed mastery over yoga power - an extraordinary ability that combined Fighting-type energy with Psychic-type energy into something entirely new.

Additionally, Roy had encountered Solrock with its special Confusion attacks infused with solar energy, and Toxtricity that combined electric attacks with sonic energy to create devastating sound-based lightning attacks.

All of these special energies, which proved more advantageous than their basic counterparts, confirmed an important principle in Pokemon training.

The energy used by Pokemon could indeed be optimized and improved through structural modifications and careful training.

"Could it be that abilities like Typhlosion's Rage qualify as advanced energy?" Roy asked curiously.

"It's not quite that simple," Cole replied with an amused shake of his head. "Rage is certainly stronger than normal flames, I'll give you that. But the improvement is still limited in scope. Under the same energy output conditions, Rage doesn't possess the overwhelming advantage needed to earn the title of 'advanced energy'."

"The standard benchmark for so-called 'advanced energy' requires at least three times the power of basic energy under identical output conditions."

Cole continued his explanation with growing enthusiasm. "Taking Typhlosion as our example again, its 'Rage' ability integrates the emotional energy of anger into its flames, creating a form of optimization. However, this single optimization falls far short of the requirements. For normal advancement, a Pokemon needs to undergo optimization at least three separate times to reach the advanced energy threshold."

This meant that advanced energy required multiple compatible energies to be mixed and fused with the base flame energy.

Hearing this explanation, Roy's expression became thoughtful and slightly puzzled.

Three separate optimizations were required?

But Mimikyu had only undergone a single optimization process...

Simply by incorporating Nature Power into its attacks, Mimikyu's Ghost-type energy had already reached the standard benchmark for advanced energy classification.

This phenomenon could only mean one thing in Roy's mind.

The level of natural energy was probably extraordinarily high from the very beginning.

Moreover, it possessed exceptional compatibility, allowing it to be combined effectively with all eighteen different attribute energy types.

The "advanced technique" manual that Roy had envisioned would allow all of his Pokemon to walk the path toward master level much earlier than normal.

With only a single optimization completed, they were still far from reaching their limits. Mimikyu might very well be capable of optimizing its energy structure even further in the future.

With this thought in mind, Roy asked, "There should be significant gaps between different types of advanced energies, shouldn't there?"

"Absolutely," Cole replied with evident emotion in his voice. "The most powerful advanced energies are undoubtedly those possessed by Legendary Pokemon. Haven't you noticed that the energy used by each Legendary Pokemon is extraordinarily special and unique?"

Roy suddenly understood the full picture.

Among the first-tier legendary Pokemon, Zekrom possessed Teravolt ability, Reshiram commanded Turboblaze, and Ho-Oh wielded Sacred Fire - all representing the pinnacle of energy mastery.

In the second-tier legendaries, Suicune used purifying water, and other legendary Pokemon each possessed their own special variations of water, steel, rock, dragon, and other energy types.

Even the Legendary Pokemon - the very "gods" of the Pokemon world - continued to walk the path of energy optimization, proving the fundamental correctness of this approach to power.

Cole offered a word of caution: "Roy, with your natural talent, it's only a matter of time before your Pokemon reach master level. I have complete faith in your abilities. However, don't let yourself become overly ambitious right now. Focus on reaching professional level as your immediate goal, understand?"

"I understand completely," Roy replied with a slight smile.

He wasn't aiming unrealistically high - he was simply preparing for the future in advance.

If everything proceeded according to plan, Roy would have his first professional-level Pokemon within the next few days.

"The results from interrogating Arlo have come through," Cole announced, shifting to more serious matters. "He's confirmed to be a member of the Illuminati organization. This time, he was following direct orders from his superiors to eliminate you as a perceived threat."

Roy wasn't particularly surprised by this revelation and asked, "What does the official government plan to do with Arlo?"

"He'll be imprisoned for an extended period while we attempt to extract additional information from him," Cole replied without any sympathy for traitors. His voice turned cold as he continued, "After that process is complete, he'll be sentenced to death. Any Pokemon still alive will be transferred to detention facilities where they'll never be released."

"Including his Lairon?" Roy asked with a frown.

"No," Cole shook his head. "That particular Lairon wasn't Arlo's primary Pokemon. He hadn't spent much time with it, and they didn't develop a deep bond. It will be transferred to a Pokemon sanctuary somewhere in China for care."

Not every trainer shared Roy's philosophy of valuing every Pokemon equally and treating them all with the same level of care and respect.

Many trainers with sufficient financial resources employed what could be described as a "survival of the fittest" screening method.

This approach involved capturing and training many Pokemon simultaneously, then eliminating the weaker ones while keeping only the most talented specimens as their main team members.

As long as trainers didn't abandon their Pokemon in harmful ways, this practice remained technically legal.

However, those Pokemon who were eliminated through this process were often unable to develop true loyalty and trust toward their trainers.

"By the way, I almost forgot something important," Cole said, patting his head and retrieving a box from his backpack. He looked at Roy with curiosity. "These are the Tree of Beginning gems you asked me to purchase. Since when did you develop an interest in this type of collectible?"

"I have some theories that I want to test and confirm," Roy replied simply.

Roy opened the box carefully and discovered a total of thirteen Mega Stones inside.

To purchase these precious stones, Roy had spent all of his prize money from the recent competition as well as his entire bank account savings.

Fortunately, this investment had finally yielded the specific Mega Stone pattern he needed, filling the last remaining gap in his team's potential.

Blastoise's Mega Stone - finally acquired.

After saying goodbye to Cole, Roy climbed onto a Pidgeot and flew back toward the top of the Tree of Beginning.

As an officially recognized "guardian," he possessed the right to request assistance from Pokemon belonging to all the different species living on the world tree.

This particular Pidgeot had been recruited temporarily for transportation purposes.

Not having Pokemon with reliable Flying-type abilities was proving to be quite problematic.

Sitting securely on Pidgeot's back, Roy soared through the sky, gazing down at the vast landscape below. While feeling a sense of joy and freedom, he couldn't help but feel somewhat ironic about his situation.

He had often made jokes about Groudon's inability to fly, but it turned out that very few Pokemon on his own team could actually achieve sustained flight, which created significant inconvenience.

Lucario, Mimikyu, Blastoise, Ninetales, and Electabuzz were all completely unable to fly under their own power.

Metagross could levitate using magnetic force, but the maximum distance it could maintain from the ground was only a few dozen meters - the absolute limit of its magnetic field range.

The only real hope for future flight capability rested with Cosmog.

Whether it eventually evolved into Solgaleo or Lunala, either form would possess excellent flying abilities.

"My last hope for aerial transportation turned out to be Cosmog..." Roy muttered, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the irony.

"No matter what, if the opportunity presents itself, I really need to catch a dedicated Flying-type Pokemon," he decided.

However, given Roy's current high standards and specific requirements, finding a suitable Pokemon would prove extremely challenging.

Everything would ultimately depend on chance and timing.

Soon, Roy reached the summit of the Tree of Beginning.

Before landing, Roy spotted Ninetales faithfully maintaining its guard position exactly where he had left it, waiting patiently and quietly for his return.

As soon as Roy's feet touched the ground, the affectionate Ninetales immediately approached and pressed against his side, raising its head slightly in a familiar gesture.

Roy understood the unspoken request, reaching out to gently stroke Ninetales' head with care.

"Yi~?" Ninetales made a questioning sound.

"Yes, everything went smoothly this time," Roy smiled reassuringly. "Where is Lucario currently?"

Ninetales indicated through gestures that Lucario was still engaged in training and learning.

"In other words, it's still at the core section of the Tree of Beginning..." Roy murmured thoughtfully.

For the past two days, Lucario had been learning directly from Mew about how to use aura power to regulate and maintain the ecological balance of the Tree of Beginning.

Maintaining the operation of such an enormous tree structure through personal power alone placed tremendous strain on one's aura abilities.

However, this intense challenge also served as an exceptional form of training and practice for developing aura power.

Mew's vast and magnificent aura power resulted not only from natural talent but also from this demanding training methodology.

"How did your practice session go today?" Roy asked.

As soon as Roy finished speaking, Ninetales reacted like a child being questioned about homework by their parents. Its ears and tail drooped instantly, and it let out a pitiful whining sound of complaint.

The training was simply too difficult to master.

The 'Never-Melt Ice' technique mastered by the Ice-type legendary Pokemon Regice clearly represented an extremely high-level form of energy manipulation.

Although Ninetales possessed the necessary talent requirements, actually mastering the technique proved incredibly challenging.

"Babble!" Ninetales expressed its frustration angrily.

Ninetales complained that Mew had been correct when calling them slow learners.

Regice's teaching methodology involved demonstrating moves and then expecting Ninetales to achieve understanding through pure intuition and insight.

Pure enlightenment and comprehension!

If you couldn't grasp the concepts, it simply meant your understanding was insufficient and your foundation was inadequate!

The only solution was to continue practicing and keep learning through repetition!

Having grown accustomed to move TMs and the advanced teaching methods available in "consciousness space" training, returning to learn from Regice felt like traveling backward from modern society to primitive times. The gap in teaching methodology was simply too vast to bridge easily.

Ninetales had been in an irritable mood for several days, and the snow-white fur on its body had become somewhat disheveled without proper grooming.

Understanding through pure intuition felt nearly impossible!

"Ha ha ha ha," Roy laughed without any sympathy for Ninetales' predicament.

Ninetales glared at him with a resentful expression. Who did this inconsiderate trainer think it was working so hard for anyway?

The situation was incredibly frustrating.

What made it even more annoying was that Ninetales couldn't bring itself to actually hate Roy, no matter how difficult the training became.

Roy quickly changed the subject to avoid further complaints: "What about Metagross? Where is it currently?"

Ninetales tapped the ground with its small paw, making its meaning perfectly clear.

Metagross was still underground, continuing its training sessions with the Steel-type legendary Pokemon Registeel.
