Chapter 39 - chapter 39

Rain's POV

I didn't know how long I'd been out. Minutes… hours… hell, days for all I knew. But when my eyes finally peeled open, the world around me was a goddamn mess.

Voices everywhere — loud, angry, clashing over each other like a pack of rabid dogs fighting for the last scrap of meat. My head was pounding like a drum, my temples throbbing in rhythm with the chaos.

Where the hell was I? Was I still in the tent… or had they dragged my sorry ass outside?

I managed to sit up, groaning as the room spun around me. That's when I saw them — a crowd of old, wrinkly bastards standing around my tent, their voices booming over one another as they barked at Kai, who, of course, was standing dead center like the arrogant asshole he was, tossing insults back like some deranged king on a broken throne.

And not a single one of those bastards noticed me.

Typical.
