BATISTA POV

In a blink, her body shifted, fur blooming across her skin, her form stretching into her wolf. But she wasn't like before—her wolf glowed with living starlight. Her white fur burned bright, each strand like a thread of silver fire. Her eyes blazed with the heavens. She was beautiful and terrifying all at once.

The shockwave ripped through the shadows holding my men. One by one, they staggered free, coughing, their bodies shaking—but alive. The shadow bindings were gone, burned away by her light.

I shifted instantly, my wolf leaping forward, standing at her side. My men followed, growls rising in unison. For the first time since this nightmare began, we weren't trapped. We were free.

"Where is he?" she mind-linked.

Rain's voice cut into my thoughts, sharp, urgent. Batista, the Shadow King— Where is he?"

I scanned the chamber, but it was true. The place was empty, only bone dust and fading shadows left behind.

"I don't know," I answered back, unease biting at me.
