Chapter 53 - Secret Letter

"Damn it!"

As night fell, Tsunade finally left the tent, muttering curses.

Left behind was the rent for Li Anshi's shop for the next thirty years.

In fact, if all this rent were cashed in, Li Anshi could completely buy the shop.

However, neither Li Anshi nor Tsunade had any intention of cashing in this rent.

For Li Anshi, when he failed to pass the Ninja Academy assessment and become a ninja, losing his source of income, it was the Senju clan who rented that shop to him, allowing him to live there first and pay later, giving him a place to stand.

Without that shop, Li Anshi didn't know if he would have had to search everywhere for work just to survive, or spend his days bustling about for a bit of money to fill his stomach, leaving no spare time to practice the Little Li Flying Dagger. By the time Konoha issued the conscription order, he would have been no different from any other ordinary Genin.

Just cannon fodder to waste the enemy's kunai.

So, barring any accidents, Li Anshi would never buy this shop.

But he would rent it for a lifetime!

As for Tsunade, that went without saying.

As long as Li Anshi's shop still belonged to the Senju clan, she could lose rent to him until ten thousand years later!

Whether Li Anshi could live for ten thousand years was not her concern.

After seeing Tsunade off, Li Anshi turned his gaze to the letter on the table.

In the original ninja world, after the death of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, the First Shinobi World War lasted for more than five years. After Sakumo Hatake rose to prominence, coupled with Konoha's deep foundation, they eventually wore down the other three ninja villages and achieved victory.

But now, with the addition of a variable like Li Anshi on the Cloud ninja front, the First Shinobi World War ended in less than a year.

Li Anshi was quite proud of this.

Of course, Li Anshi could only savor this pride himself.

After all, besides him, no one else could possibly know what changes Li Anshi's appearance had brought.

Picking up the letter from the table, Li Anshi focused his gaze on its ending.

In this letter, the Third Hokage hadn't just mentioned the Stone Village signing a truce agreement.

At the end of the letter, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, had also made a suggestion.

He wanted Li Anshi to make a trip to the Cloud Village.

If possible, he was to bring back the Cloud ninjas' surrender document or truce agreement to Konoha.

Before the Cloud ninjas withdrew from the Land of Grass, Li Anshi had also proposed to Nara Shikafuku whether he should go to the Cloud Village and have them submit a letter of surrender.

However, at that time, Li Anshi's proposal had been stopped by Nara Shikafuku.

And the Third Hokage's reply at the time had also prioritized stability.

But after the Stone ninjas surrendered, Hiruzen Sarutobi no longer had any reservations.

According to the Third Hokage, he and his father, the current head of the Sarutobi clan, Sasuke Sarutobi, would move towards this front and could reach this battlefield before the Cloud ninjas arrived at the Land of Fire's border.

At that time, with the two of them holding the line, the Cloud ninjas couldn't possibly break through this defensive line.

As for the Sand Village, even Li Anshi could see it, so Hiruzen Sarutobi naturally could also guess that the Sand Village wouldn't last much longer.

Thus, among the three ninja villages that had gone to war with Konoha in the First Shinobi World War, only the Cloud Village had not signed a truce treaty with Konoha.

This meant the Cloud ninjas could attack Konoha at any time without violating ninja rules.

If Li Anshi hadn't existed, Hiruzen Sarutobi might have let the Cloud ninjas be.

But since there was such a deterrent as Li Anshi, Hiruzen Sarutobi naturally couldn't leave such a hidden danger.

Of course, Hiruzen Sarutobi's actions also served to elevate Li Anshi's fame.

Forcing the Cloud ninjas to sign a truce agreement single-handedly – Li Anshi's prestige might even surpass that of the Third Hokage.

Both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Li Anshi himself could see this.

"Since that's the case, I'll make a trip to the Cloud Village as well!"

Taking out a pen and paper, Li Anshi left a letter for Nara Shikafuku, then stood up and left the tent.

...

"Not good!"

The Cloud ninja stationed in the Land of Grass was greatly alarmed when he sensed Li Anshi's aura begin to move.

Immediately, this Cloud ninja formed hand seals.

"Summoning Technique!"

Poof—

White smoke exploded, and a falcon appeared. The Cloud ninja immediately tied a slip of paper to the falcon's leg, then dispelled the summoning technique.

Then, this Cloud ninja began to flee.

Swoosh—

Under the night sky, Li Anshi's figure leaped across the tree branches.

"What a miscalculation."

"I was so focused on rushing to the Cloud Village to have the Third Raikage submit a letter of surrender that I forgot I don't know where the Cloud Village is. However, going back to the camp now would be a bit embarrassing."

Only after leaving the camp did Li Anshi remember that although he had lived in this world for fifteen years, his knowledge of it was limited.

He had only been able to leave Konoha village after becoming a ninja last year.

But the places he had been were only the battlefield in the Land of Wind and the current battlefield here.

"Let's try first!"

"If I can't find someone to lead the way, then so be it if I lose some face."

"I can't possibly value my face more than Konoha."

Although Li Anshi's own "Ninja Way," or rather the "spirit" of his Little Li Flying Dagger, was "freedom," the "freedom" he pursued was not reckless abandon or self-centeredness, but the freedom to "refuse."

Regarding the trip to the Cloud Village, Li Anshi had no intention of "refusing."

As for finding someone to lead the way—

Li Anshi remembered that when the Cloud ninjas withdrew from the Land of Grass, Yamanaka Shin had said that the main Cloud forces had withdrawn, but some ninjas remained in the Land of Grass to monitor Konoha's movements.

It was precisely because these ninjas were watching that Nara Shikafuku worried the Cloud ninjas would play a tit-for-tat game.

If Li Anshi went to the Cloud Village, the Cloud side would immediately maneuver to avoid him, sending their main forces to strike here, then directly at Konoha, forcing Li Anshi to return.

Swish—

A flying dagger slid from Li Anshi's sleeve and into his hand.

When Li Anshi's hand grasped the dagger, his own perception was heightened to its limit.

Little Li's Flying Dagger never misses!

Besides the spirit of the Little Li Flying Dagger, the most important thing was the means of perceiving the enemy.

Li Anshi was not a sensory ninja, but when he held a dagger in his hand, his perception of living beings was no less than that of a sensory ninja.

After all, if one couldn't perceive the enemy's existence, how could one speak of "never missing"?

Li Anshi had killed more than a dozen Jonin.

Was it that these Jonin didn't know how to use Clone Techniques, Substitution Techniques, or genjutsu?
