Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: School Days

Two years passed since his dad became an Awakened, and now he joined a school. He went to a school made for children of people either working for the Government or children of Awakened.

There Sunny had some amount of combat classes, as much as someone who was 6 year old could have. They had basics of Karate, a bit of sword training, and a few club activities. All in all, life was good for once.

For once, he had nothing to worry about. Well, nothing other than Assignments that was, but they were easy.

Somehow, he found out that Cassie, too, was in this school. Something changed from his regression, because she wasn't supposed to be in this one. He had to avoid her like a plague, he didn't want her to know him.

Well, who would have guessed it would be hard. People liked her; she was popular.

'No but how's someone popular at the age of 5!'

It felt weird to him... To see her be so innocent, and so naive. It was hard to accept that.

Hard not to hate this version of her.

Hard not to—hard not to kill this version of her.

He needed her help to survive. Rain needed it, he knew that.

It was weird. Very weird.

How was someone like her one of the strongest Masters?

One of the smartest, too.

Well, he was feeling petty and decided to use his knowledge and quickly go ahead in grades.

Just to avoid her, he was losing out on a good childhood.

Apart from that, he found out that he could, infact, use Shadow Sense albeit in a very small range. The range was just about as far as his eyes reached.

In a way, it wasn't supposed to be possible, but at the same time maybe he could because he knew how to use the sense?

Maybe because serpent was here?

Well, it didn't matter. He could still see the shadows and understand what they were about to do, just not the muscles.

Not the sense that connected him to the shadow. That was a disappointment, and rather a weird experience for a while.

Not being able to see many things at once felt—felt so mundane.

Ascension really did change him.

One more interesting thing was that Broken Sword did die. He didn't expect that to happen, he expected Neph to try saving him.

There were two possibilities for this: either her dad didn't listen or she still didn't retain her memories.

Sunny sighed, and watched as the transportation he used finally reached his school gate.

The school was large compound, a fountain was in the space between the protective walls and the school itself. It was ten floors long, having reinforced walls.

There was a playground on both sides for the young kids to play, and a club somewhere else for the adult's PE class.

It was beautiful.

Marvelling the school once again, he continued walking there, carrying his bag pack which contained his notes, and assignments.

It still felt odd, living a life like this. A life he didn't deserve, yet enjoyed.

The doubt he had still remained, his fear of rejection by his parents was still there.

The fear was immense, and as he started enjoying life—he started to hate it and doubt it just the same. He had a rough idea as to what Red's flaw was. That was the only explanation for a lot of things.

It was similar to Kai's, but far worse in a way.

He could see through masks... Masks like the one he wore. Constantly.

Ever since he realised it, he had to be more mindful of his emotions. Suppress them even more.

It was a cruel flaw... To see their own children suffer the way he did.

To feel the guilt, fear and hatred he felt.

Everything.

It was always him.

Always.

He never let the emotions overwhelm him, not anymore. Not after—not after what he did to his parents.

The only time he allowed to let it all go, was when he slept.

When he was certain no one was nearby.

His face remained neutral, but his lips parted in a sigh.

Suddenly he heard loud footsteps or someone running from behind him, the person ran towards him and used his hands and kept them on his shoulders.

"Yo!" The boy said, his lips widening to a smile.

It was Steve.

Somehow, he was sure that this person knew about his suffering, yet never showed it apart from when he needed someone.

He was suspicious at first, but realised he didn't have an aspect. He couldn't have known what he felt, he seemed to know him well.

"Hi." Sunny responded with a calm voice, "Are you done with the physics assignments?"

"Why are you so studious?" The boy chuckled, "and yeah, ofcourse I'm done."

Steve wasn't exactly his friend, but he was the closest thing to it he had in this School. He did talk with other students, but that didn't mean he considered them as friends.

"I simply like the creativity taken to invent stuff, and you're the one talking" he laughed at the irony, that man literally studied way more than anyone else?

The bastard said some stuff about Black Holes out of no where, and somehow it wasn't even wrong. Somehow, he knew what he said. (Random authors Note in the middle of the chapter: my knowledge to this is limiting but I won't mind learning more of this lmfao)

Infact, that bastard knew how to measure the speed of a fucking fan accuracy, and even make it seem as if it's moving in the opposite direction!

That was... Interesting. He could use his help with ideas.

Sunny was almost tempted to actually believe he was a regressor or something, but that was prosperous! He was the unique one here!

Some people truly were intersting, he would probably like Professor Julius, and the same could be said from him.

His lips parted into a smile at the thought.

"Oh, you're smiling?" Steve teased him, a grin appearing on his face too.

"Anyways, you'll be late for the class. Hurry up, and try keeping up." Steve ran towards the class, making Sunny follow him.

Maybe he was a good friend, how else would be find himself running behind him.

This was the life he wished he had.

Always.

He didn't deserve it, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy these little moments.

The class began with Earth, with comprehension and basic grammer.

'Boring...' he thought with a yawn.

The English class was then followed by Science—rather, chemistry to be more accurate—where they learnt the states of matter. The three states.

It was inaccurate, according to Steve. There weren't three states, there were more.

He did believe that, because it made no sense about some things in the Dream Realm... Well, trying to make sense of those phenomenons was a fool's errand but still!

'And what the hell was fire's state.'

It certainly wasn't anything he learnt!

The last two classes were PE and Combat.

Currently, he had a break right now, something after his Science class.

It was a fun time, people chose to either eat in the cafeteria or play games, most of the times it was both.

"What're you playing?" It was Jack. Steve's best friend.

He was playing something filled with blocks on his communicator, fighting some blocky creatures with a purple sword.

"I'm playing Minecraft, its a game from the Dark Times, my dad saved it for me and somehow it's working well, and the server is still up." Steve replied, not looking away from his screen.

"Can I play? Can I play?" Jack jumped excitedly, quite literally.

That was how kids were. Weird.

"Sure." Steve smiled.

Soon he saw Rain approaching, she had a total of two lectures and a break, her classes started the same time as Sunny's second class.

She had some PE first, and then a break followed by basics of languages.

"Brother!" Rain almost shouted, looking at him excitedly, as she rushed towards him, she ran with quite an astonishing speed.

'She is exactly how I remembered her.' he thought with a smile. Rain embraced him, and Sunny hugged her back.

They were always with each other, she was his responsibility here in school.

He had to take care of her during her break. He found himself be more attached to her than anyone else in his family, mainly because he continued living forher after their parents died.

"Sunny, wanna play Chess?" He heard Steve say, and looking at him he saw a wide smile.

Chess. A game he played with Professor Julius in his previous life, and even this one.

In this life, Julius did teach him things about how to survive in the Dream Realm, and they even talked about many theories!

Sunny, ofcourse, didn't give knowledge from his Second Nightmare other than some of it, and he merely theorised those to him... Always leaving some gaps in the information or saying something close but not quite true. That was why he was still allowed in the Accademy, a place he visited atleast once a week.

As for chess, he still found it a chore, until he started playing it more often.

Sometimes he played it with Julius and the other times with Steve.

"Sure." He returned the smile.

Up until now, Sunny somehow lost almost every match against him. The almost was only almost because he recently won against him!

That was a huge achievement for him, after being utterly destroyed by that man!

That... Sunny's pettiness couldn't allow it!

"Knight to F2, mate."

Sunny lost, once again.

His own rook and pawn stopped him from moving his king! He sac'd the damn Queen to win. [1]

Sunny sighed as he notice, and shook Steve's hand.

"Well played."

"Well played."

The game lasted for 15 minutes, and now the break was done.

He dropped his sister to class, and then went to his own.

Just like that... The day was finally over.

Steve sighed as the classes were over, and leaned against the wooden chair. Yes, it was, infact, real wood... A rarity in this world... But not the one he originally hailed from.

He recalled every bit of excitement he felt when he read the Weaver lore in the first part of Shadow Slave, and then saw the same adaption in two different fics... "Re Route" and "The World They Left Behind."[2]

Two fics from the same author. Well, he did read more, but only three Fanfics coincidentally had him be a character. The third one was, of course, a bad Fanfic by design. A terrible, and utterly stupid fanfic. 'Is This Love?'

The writer, the writer was the person who made a god damn biological weapon named Unedited Chapter 2: The High Priest of The Spell. A fucking terrible writing.

That one chapter in particular was so had that anyone would either throw their phones at a hundred miles *per second* or if they somehow finished it, would have nightmares. Well, not really, but still!

The writer didn't go into many details about his life, but he did make the same Steve transmigrate into the different world... And well, coincidentally, he fit all those criterias...

Adding a character named Steve sure was an interesting way to share other scrapped ideas, which were either downright terrible or had the fic ending earlier than expected... He was, by designed, nerfed. Nerfed by all his potential abilities, and well, since he knew every idle outcome, it ironically stopped him from doing the best action.

Like, for instance, if he saved Antarctica then skinwalker would plunder the whole world, and grow strong beyond imagination. It would have a vast army.

That was one of the reasons he couldnt kill Winter Beast until Falcon Scott was destroyed. It wasnt a moral thing to do... But he had to survive himself.

He had to.

"Mom, dad... I miss you." A silent whisper sounded from his lips as he pressed himself even tighter against the chair. Despite being transmigrated here for a few years, he still missed them. Infact, he missed them even more each passing year... He wasn't sure if it was normal or not, but it probably was... Just that—he thought people could still move on eventually...

The way he transmigrated was the stupidest thing ever... He opened webnovel and put it in a split screen to open discord, and then died from the light mode!

Like what the fuck was that!

BLOOPER (Canon 2, expansion)

It was just another normal day, waking up... He just checked his notifications.

Re-Route (to fate) updated!!!

Well... The to fate part was supposed to orignally be a part of the name... But then stuff happened (stuff was just something his pr pointed out... Opportunities). Anyways, he would finally know who [Redacted] was.

Today would be the day...

Trrk

His communicator turned on... Then, he immediately opened webnovel, before proceeding to open it in split screen... Well, like how cliffhangers whisper in G3's ears... Yeah, he opened discord completely forgetting that it has light mode on...

And how every meme whispers in the damn author's ears... He used that as the means to transmigrate Steve.

Like imagine dying from discord light mode!!!

"WAIT... AH FUCK DONT DO IT! NOOO"

Uh oh, seems like the author is cursed now. College life has chained him.

BLOOPERS (1) (written before the above bloopers lol)

Steve was sitting in one of the last benches, waiting for his Mom to come pick him up, when suddenly a weird smile appeared on his face.

Soon Nightingale would post his first song! From what he heard, the genre he made was Pop and he would be rather popular in the future.

BLOOPERS (2)

Steve was sitting in one of the last benches, waiting for his Mom to come pick him up, when suddenly a weird smile appeared on his face.

"Soon."

Soon it was time for his favourite show, sunphis, would begin.

Author's note: I actually meant to write something but then realised nothing worth foreshadowing is here lmfao. I mean major stuff might happen soon, but it's not worth a good foreshadow lol

Also this isn't coming on Wattpad, most of the chapters never hit the goal (so petty ew)💀

(AO3 had an absurd goal so enjoy)

Last thing, goals for this one are 10 comments (im getting carried away) and uh 60 kudos? I think we can do that? And 110 hearts on the ss thread

Anyways, here is my discord, let's try getting 5 members through this fic XD

Ping me on my server and say abc
