Chapter 249 - Chapter 251: The Cultural Festival Executive Committee

Chapter 251: The Cultural Festival Executive Committee

"Sakurai, you came here just to show off to me, didn't you?" Shirogane left the president's chair.

The cultural festival was still more than ten days away — enough time for him to handle everything. In fact, to have this festival, Shirogane had put in no small amount of effort. At first, it was only supposed to be one day, but thanks to his struggle, it was extended to two days. Perhaps the principal, seeing his capability, gave approval.

"Show off? Did I just do that?" Sakurai had no self-awareness at all.

If this country held a contest for "shamelessness," he would definitely make the top 10.

"Of course! What you just said was completely showing off. So annoying, I'm so jealous." Shirogane glanced at the cup of coffee on the table — the one that had just been brewed.

"Can I drink it?"

"Of course, I made it for you." Sakurai replied with a smile.

"Shirogane, finding a girlfriend really isn't that hard, I've told you many times already."

Shirogane Miyuki sighed: "No one has caught my eye."

He did have a few female friends he was quite close with, but… they all treated each other like brothers, he truly never thought of it that way.

"You're really picky, this school is full of rich Ojou-sama, yet you don't care about anyone?"

Sakurai Saki teased.

Of course, he understood the other's meaning.

"That's the problem, if it wasn't an Ojou-sama maybe I'd consider it. My family doesn't have money, but at least I still have some capital." Shirogane Miyuki referred to his good looks and academic record.

"But if the other person is the daughter of a distinguished family, then I might not be worthy."

"I think love doesn't need that much overthinking." Sakurai Saki expressed his view: "Love isn't the same as marriage. Even if it could lead to marriage later, the chance of a first love leading to marriage is very low, out of a hundred couples not even one."

"I really envy your mentality." Shirogane Miyuki sighed.

To him, love was for marriage.

"You think I'm dating Hayasaka Ai with just a playful mentality?"

"..."

"Haizz, I really am a scumbag, but marriage will still be marriage." Sakurai Saki lifted the coffee cup and took a sip.

Then he took a book out of his bag.

A short story collection by Kawabata Yasunari, including "Snow Country," "The Dancing Girl of Izu," and a few others.

Looking at the book, he suddenly felt a little urge to travel to Izu.

"[When I have you, whether it's buying a tie in a department store, or cleaning a fish in the kitchen, I feel happiness.] Shirogane, what do you think of this line?"

"When did you start reading classical literature?" Shirogane Miyuki remembered that before, he only saw him reading light novels.

"Works of famous people are sometimes quite interesting. Of course, when it comes to fun, I'll definitely still read light novels."

The midterms were over, and with a month left until finals, Sakurai Saki wasn't worried at all.

"You even make me evaluate a famous quote, you really hold me in high regard." Shirogane Miyuki grumbled: "For famous quotes like this, there are tens of thousands of interpretations online."

"[When I lose you, whether facing the chirping of birds or the fragrance of flowers, I no longer feel any interest. Everything becomes empty, hollow. A sensitive heart turns dull, unable even to grasp its own soul.]" Sakurai Saki read that line, then sighed: "Is this the feeling of a first love?"

"My girlfriend is exactly like that, she can't bear being apart for even a second."

Sakurai: ( ∩´͈ ᐜ `͈∩)

Shirogane: (눈_눈)

"Sakurai, stop reading, I've got a headache already. If you keep this up I'll have to seriously consider finding a girlfriend." Shirogane Miyuki felt like he was showing off his love in secret — no, this was blatant showing off.

Hearing that, Sakurai Saki said nothing more.

After a long while.

He changed the subject —

"Shirogane, why did you drop to third place in the last midterms?"

Shirogane held his coffee cup frozen for a few seconds. Why did the other suddenly bring this up? Although the midterms were already a week ago, Shirogane still explained.

"I already got accepted into Stanford, didn't I? Lately I've been studying English and practicing speaking. The pronunciation in Japan and in America is different, practicing is exhausting me to death." Shirogane Miyuki no longer cared about holding the top spot, his energy was limited, he had to focus on what was necessary.

"Exactly, sometimes I can't even understand the English of those five idiots." Just mentioning it made Sakurai Saki feel tired.

Nino was still okay, she was pretty good at English. After more than half a year of studying, in the five subjects for the exam, she no longer had any weak points.

The main problem was Yotsuba and Ichika.

Ichika had been busy filming recently, she even took several days off from school. The higher her career soared, the more worrying her studies became.

And Yotsuba, well, no need to even mention, right? She really tried her best, but no matter how much she studied, nothing stuck, leaving Sakurai wanting to cry without tears.

Yotsuba: (๑>؂•̀๑)

Sakurai: "(ノ _ <,, )

"Wait a minute! Sakurai, what on earth are you here for? You're not tutoring the Nakano quintuplets, not working general affairs, just sitting here drinking coffee and reading books. Usually when you come here you already have nothing to do, but earlier you were stalling and making me anxious!" The more Shirogane Miyuki thought about it, the more annoyed he got.

Sakurai Saki really was the kind of person who talked in circles, constantly steering the topic elsewhere.

"Didn't I say yet? I came today to choose people for the Cultural Festival executive committee." Sakurai Saki spoke up.

"Isn't each class supposed to choose one person? Besides that, the student council also has to choose someone, so I came to ask. Last time I got suspended, remember? So the teachers decided to keep a closer eye on me, make me do more work so I don't cause any more big incidents."

"That confession stunt of yours last time really was legendary." Shirogane Miyuki sighed, then added: "The student council isn't even here today…"

Just as he finished speaking.

Someone entered through the door.

Ishigami Yuu, looking no different from a gaming addict as always. Sakurai Saki really wanted to find some chance to get his hair cut, he looked so sloppy. His face wasn't bad, but that hairstyle dragged his appearance down miserably.

"Sakurai-senpai, and Myuu-senpai, good afternoon."

Ishigami: "( – ⌓ – )੭ hi~

Ishigami Yuu sat down on the sofa, took out his laptop, and started doing treasurer work.

"What are you guys talking about?"

"The Devoted Hearts Festival executive committee, are you interested?" Sakurai Saki himself would definitely be part of this committee, he absolutely didn't want Shinomiya Kaguya getting involved.

Since the student council had to send someone, then better to send Ishigami Yuu.

"Not interested." Ishigami Yuu bluntly said: "A bunch of riajuu gathering together to discuss riajuu stuff? Spare me. Just breathing that kind of air would kill me instantly."

Ishigami, a mole who couldn't endure the sunlight.

"You're exaggerating a bit." Shirogane Miyuki, as president, had his own responsibilities, such as painting the giant dragon model on the rooftop.

"..." Sakurai Saki thought for a few seconds about how to drag him in.

And why didn't he just give up on Ishigami Yuu and put Fujiwara Chika in instead?

Don't even mention such a horrifying thing, just thinking about it gave him a headache.

"Sakurai-senpai, give it up. No matter what you say, even if it's the temptation of a devil, I'm not joining." Ishigami Yuu could see he was still trying to persuade him.

"Ishigami, the head of the executive committee is Koyasu-senpai."

Ishigami: Σ(°ロ°) !!

As soon as Sakurai Saki finished speaking, Ishigami Yuu's indifferent face instantly turned attentive.

"Do you want to join?"

"Yes!"

Wow, this guy really was easy to read, Sakurai Saki sighed inwardly.

It seemed even the 'god of giving up' couldn't resist the allure of jade beauty.
