Chapter 99 - Score 20 Points

Alara gripped the joystick controller with both hands, her fingers curling around it as her eyes sparkled with glee. She loves gaming. Alara paused and turned to Raven, as a sly smile showed on her face. "Should I pick up a hooker first?" Alara asked, Raven tilting her head slightly in question.

Raven's expression turned dark, her emerald green eyes narrowing in confusion as she leaned closer to ask. "What the hell is that supposed to mean, Alara?" Raven asked in a completely serious tone, genuinely baffled by this question.

Alara burst into laughter, her shoulders shaking as she tried to catch her breath. Finally, between gasps for air, she managed to explain the joke, "Raven... in Grand Theft Autonomous, one of the ways to make money is to pick up a hooker, rob her after she gets out of the car, and then run her over to get double your money back. It's... super fun."

Raven's eyes widened, an actual moment of excitement coming across her face. Raven straightened her sitting posture, her lips parting as she let out an excited statement. "That's... genius! I can't believe I have never thought of that before. It is truly a brilliant strategy for maximizing profits."

Neither of them realized in this moment just how deeply they have both slipped into their own brand of insanity, each fueling the other to new extremes. Raven and Alara are two psychos lost together in a world that has already given up on it's own sanity.

But then Raven's face shifted slightly, becoming suddenly more serious. She lifted her head slightly and addressed Alara in a low, cautious tone of voice. "You probably shouldn't do something like that in real life, though Alara. It's way too messy to clean up. Keep that kind of entertainment inside video games where it belongs. The most we can do is blow up a few survivor bases to rob them of supplies. Don't worry I've got weapons-grade plutonium, so no worries."

Alara blinked at her, stunned, before slowly breaking into a delighted smile. She leaned her head back slightly and let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Damn, Raven... I was only joking. But the fact that you'd consider nuking an entire base of thousands—maybe even millions—just to feed me... that's really romantic."

Raven smiled, a dark light in her eyes, clearly pleased. Without another word, she motioned to the windshield, encouraging Alara to focus on the task at hand.

Alara's expression turned mischievous as she turned her attention back to the window. As the garbage truck roared to life under her game controller, its engines rumbling deeply as it began to move forward. Loudspeakers mounted on top of it played obnoxious polka music, instantly drawing the attention of the horde of zombies swarming in Time Square.

The zombies turned, their shriveled faces lighting up with instinctive hunger as they ran towards the noise in a tidal wave. Alara adjusted her grip on the controller, her eyes locked onto the crowd, and then she moved the garbage truck forward.

The truck drove ahead, and within seconds, it plowed into the sea of zombies. Splat! Splat! Splat! The reinforced front bumper was bladed with serrated rollers as it sliced and crushed through them, turning dozens of zombies into a spray of black gore and shattered bone with each passing second like a snowpllow.

Raven leaned forward in her seat, her eyes alive with savage excitement as she watched Alara guide the truck with playful amusement. "Go for that woman in the yellow dress! She's worth twenty points!" Raven shouted, her voice loud with gleeful expectation.

Alara laughed, her face lighting up with pure joy. She pushed the joystick to the right, and the truck turned sharply, mowing through another dense group of zombies. Bam! Splat!

Both of them threw their fists into the air at the same time, shouting in unison. "Score!"

The polka music continued to play as the garbage truck pushed forward, Alara's hands expertly maneuvering the joystick controller. Each zombie that fell under its crushing wheels added to the choir of wet, bone-crunching destruction echoing across the deserted city streets of New York City.
