Chapter 102 - Sword Maidens

Raven and Alara stood near the entrance of Fabulous Fabrics, ready to head outside and face the mercenaries directly. But just as Raven moved towards the door, Alara's stopped and called out to Raven.

"Raven… you have all those robotic minions, and you promised to make me a few sometime. But why don't you just send Metal Mouse, your spider drone, and those two aerial drones to deal with the mercenaries? They can all use optical camouflage now, right? They can sneak up on them and eliminate the mercenaries. Meanwhile, we can go to the roof or the upstairs offices and watch the action from the windows."

Raven stopped, considering Alara's words. Slowly, a look of realization spread across her face, her emerald eyes shining as she nodded, responding to Alara, saying.

"You're 100% right, Alara." Raven admitted. "I need to stop thinking I have to fight every battle myself. Why spill my own blood when my robotic minions can do the dirty work for me?"

Alara's blue eyes showed excitement. She leaned closer, a playful tone in her voice as she added, "By the way, the Apocalypse Ascendancy System talks to me too. It said I have my own four drone deployment slots. If you're going to make me something, I want an elite group of stealth drones specialized in poison, explosives, and blades. Sword arms would be perfect for decapitating enemies."

Raven's eyes widened briefly before she focused inward, questioning the system mentally. "System is what Alara says true?" Almost immediately, a message responded to her in Raven's mind.

[Apocalypse Ascendancy System Notification] "Confirmed Host. In accordance with the system bonding to the host's girlfriend Alara, she has been granted executive privileges, including: unrestricted access to the system space, Sanctuary, and her own four drone deployment slots. Future system abilities will be available to Alara as they become avaliable to you host."

Seeing the confirmation, Raven felt an unexpected warmth in her chest. She turned to Alara, her expression softening even more as she said, "It seems you're right, Alara. I'll make you several Sword Maidens then. I've already started working on some metal mannequin bodies they'll form the basic framework of their bodies. Over time, we'll develop them into true Sword Maidens, nearly indistinguishable from humans. Just like some of my advanced robot servants from my past life."

Alara's eyes sparkled at the mention of Sword Maidens, but then she frowned slightly and asked, "Wait… you just told me that blunt weapons are best for fighting zombies and enemies. So how come Sword Maidens can use swords?"

Raven scoffed, swinging her hand dismissively as she replied, "You're talking about ordinary swords that are mass-produced. They are brittle, pathetic pieces of junk. I never said anything about the blades I make. I use strengthened metals like titanium and specialized alloys, mixed and forged with like no one in this world has ever seen. They're almost unbreakable. This is thanks to my gift as a Technomancer, and having a genius IQ doesn't hurt either."

Alara's frown disappeared, replaced by a wide smile. Alara leaned forward slightly, her voice soft but firm. "You really are my little genius… now let's go upstairs and watch the devastation your drones unleash."

Raven lips curve into a smile. Without a word, she reached her hand out, and Alara immediately laced her fingers through Raven's. Together, they turned and began making their way up to the building's upper office floor.

As they walked up the stairs Raven deployed her drones one by one: Metal Mouse emerged silently from the system space, his claws sinking into the ground as he activated his optical camouflage. The spider drone came into view briefly before disappearing. Above, the two aerial drones responded to her mental command, moving into attack positions behind the mercenaries outside.
