After another hour of driving, Raven pulled the Ironhowl X4 over to the side of the cracked highway. Then, not wasting a moment, she activated the system and entered Sanctuary, and in an instant, the entire SUV disappeared from the ruined world outside and reappeared within the peaceful safety of Sanctuary. As the familiar environment around them settled, Raven and Alara stepped out of the SUV and began walking together toward's Rose Manor.
Remembering their earlier conversation, Raven immediately walked toward's one of her many computers inside Rose Manor. With a few, quick keystrokes, she began designing Alara's "driver's license" as a playful joke. Meanwhile, Alara, filled with restless energy, walked out to the backyard, where Raven set up a shooting range for her use. Once outside, several flying drones flew around above her, each holding moving targets, moving unpredictably to help Alara improve her aim and firearm experience.
Inside, Raven finalized the license layout and smiled to herself as she opened a hidden folder on her computer. Thousands of candid photos of Alara appeared on the screen. Raven glanced over her shoulder quickly, making sure Alara was still occupied outside. Whispering under her breath, she said, "She must be outside practicing her shooting... but this is totally normal. Every girlfriend and future wife keeps tens of thousands of photos of their partner in a secret computer folder, right?"
With meticulous care, Raven chose one particular image of Alara peacefully asleep, mouth slightly open snoring, holding Raven like a koala. She inserted it into the license image square, then printed it out. The lamination machine warmed up as it encased the card in a glossy plastic seal. Raven snipped the edges cleanly with a pair of scissors and held it up to the light, admiring the final product. "Damn, I'm good. The ID even has holographic foil... this could even fool a real cop if there were any left."
Just then, Alara returned inside from practice, cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling from her shooting practice. Raven turned to face her dramatically, extending the new license like a rare treasure.
"Ta-da! Here's your very own driver's license, issued by the prestigious Department of Zombie Motor Vehicles!" Raven declared.
Alara's eyes lit up as she eagerly snatched the license and studied it, but then her face shifted into an embarrassed frown. "Raven... why is this a picture of me sleeping while holding you like a koala? And... am I snoring? You took a picture of me while I was sleeping! That's so embarrassing!"
Raven's proud expression faltered momentarily before she straightened up, feigning utter seriousness. "Come on, Alara, so what if I took a few innocent photos while you were sleeping? Every couple did that before the apocalypse! In fact, they had hundreds sometimes, even thousands of hidden cameras all over their homes and cars, taking pictures constantly. It's totally normal."
Alara tilted her head slightly in question, her bright blue eyes filled with sincere innocence. "Really? Are you sure, Raven?"
Raven nodded her head firmly, putting on her most convincing poker face. "Absolutely. I guarantee it."
A shy smile spread across Alara's face, and she nodded, completely convinced. "Okay! I believe you. Maybe we just haven't seen that yet in the movies we watched, but I'm sure we will."
Internally, Raven silently promised herself, "Not on your life am I letting you watch anything that contradicts this."
Then Raven switched the topic, her eyes glowing playfully. "Let's go to bed now. I made you a new cat girl outfit to wear as pajamas tonight for our nightly activities."
Alara's face lit up, though she pouted slightly. "Aww… I really loved that rabbit outfit from the other night. The ears were so comfy…"
Raven smiled seductively, leaning forward as she spoke soft but firmly. "You have to try every new outfit I make. That was the deal when we raided Fabulous Fabrics. You let me design and create outfits for you to wear around the house just for me to enjoy. Everything about you belongs to me alone."
Alara's eyes softened, and she nodded with devoted warmth, her voice gentle and resolute. "You're right, Raven. I belong to you. Let me go try on that cat girl outfit now."
