Chapter 7 - The second hope

Liu Xu moved out of the rented house where she lived with Su Qing. She could no longer face that place full of deception and broken memories. She found a cheap hotel and stayed there temporarily, looking like a walking corpse. Wearing the watch on her wrist, the ticking sound at this moment sounded particularly harsh, as if mocking her innocence and gullibility.

She tried to piece together the broken fragments of her graduation photo, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't restore it to its original state. Those torn smiling faces are just like her broken heart.

During a aimless walk, Liu Xu walked into an old second-hand bookstore. The bookstore was filled with the smell of paper and dust, quiet and old. She was wandering among the bookshelves and accidentally bumped into a person.

"Sorry!" She apologized promptly.

The other person smiled and said, "It doesn't matter."

Liu Xu looked up and saw a familiar face.

"Cheng Yu?" She called out somewhat uncertainly.

Willow catkins? It's really you! Cheng Yu was somewhat surprised, and then a long-lost smile appeared on his face.

Cheng Yu was a classmate of Liu Xu in college. He had excellent academic performance and was gentle to others. After graduation, the two lost contact. They never expected to meet again here.

The two found a corner and sat down, chatting about their recent situations. Liu Xu didn't hide anything and told Cheng Yu what had happened to her. When talking about the fact that the negatives of the graduation photo were sold and torn up, she couldn't help but have tears welling up again.

Cheng Yu listened attentively, a look of concern showing on his face.

"Too bad..." He said softly, "I didn't expect you to encounter such a thing."

He looked at the photo fragments in Liu Xu's hand, remained silent for a while, and then said, "I have been researching digital restoration technology recently." Perhaps... Can I help you?

Liu Xu raised her head, a trace of surprise flashing in her eyes.

Will you help me?

"Um. Although the negatives are gone, I can try to restore these photo fragments with digital technology. Turn it into a complete, digital version of the photo. Cheng Yu's tone was very sincere.

Liu Xu looked at Cheng Yu. His eyes were clear and sincere, in sharp contrast to Su Qing's hypocrisy. After experiencing betrayal and hurt, suddenly an old classmate she hadn't seen for a long time came to her aid, which made her feel an unexpected warmth.

Is it really possible? She still couldn't quite believe it.

You can have a try. Although the effect may not be as good as the original version, at least it can enable you to retrieve some of these memories. Cheng Yu said, "Give me the fragments. I'll go back and give it a try."

Liu Xu hesitated for a moment and finally handed the photo fragments in her hand to Cheng Yu.

After leaving the bookstore, Liu Xu felt a little better. In that completely dark world, Cheng Yu's appearance was like a faint ray of light. Readers will also feel a bit of comfort. "Fortunately, there are still people willing to help her." Hope is reignited, though faint, it is extremely precious.
