Chapter 16 - You still remember she is my wife?

Sana was pushed into the emergency room, covered in blood. Enrique felt like he had gone mad. It was as if all the strength in his body had been drained. Sitting on the bench, he just stared numbly at his hands spread out in front of him.

He didn't catch her.

When she was in the most danger, when she needed him the most, he didn't catch her...

How could he not catch her! How was that possible!

His hand, how could his hand have loosened...

If—if she hadn't fallen on the thick tree canopy, if there hadn't been a giant advertising box waiting to be installed underneath, if it hadn't been...

He couldn't imagine it. No, he couldn't imagine it.

Holding his head, he stared at the red emergency light, as if it were a massive whirlpool sucking him in.

"Enrique Kim, you lunatic! What did you do to Sana? Tell me! What did you do to her!"

The sound of hurried footsteps came from the corridor. Before the furious voice even finished echoing, a fist slammed hard into Enrique's face. He collapsed directly onto the bench, but Samuel had no intention of letting him go. He grabbed him by the collar and punched him again.

Enrique let him. He didn't fight back. He was like a walking corpse.

"She's your wife! Enrique, she's your wife!! Even if you're heartless, you can't torture her to death, can you?" Samuel glared at him, furious.

If Jenny hadn't called him frantically, he wouldn't have believed that in just the short time he'd been away, Sana was now lying in the emergency room, her life hanging by a thread.

How much it must have hurt to fall from such a height! Samuel couldn't even bear to think about it.

"You still remember she's my wife?" Enrique stood up unsteadily. He lifted his eyes and stared coldly at Samuel. "You knew she's my wife, yet you still hid her? Samuel Bonovel, she is my wife. Always has been. You think I don't know what you've done? I didn't tell her because I didn't want her to be sad. But if anything happens to her, Samuel Bonovel—I, Enrique Kim, will not let it go."

"You're out of your damn mind!" Samuel raised his fist again, but just before it landed, Enrique stopped it.

"Those two punches, that's for taking care of Sana these past few days."

His voice was cold, emotionless. As he looked at Samuel's anxious, furious face, a bitter sneer curled his lips. He suddenly shoved him backward, making Samuel stumble two steps.

Samuel stared at him with bloodshot eyes, laughing bitterly.

"What did I do? I did nothing. You're so confident... Do you really think Sana will forgive you after all this? Even if you trap her by your side for the rest of her life—she will never love you again!"

"That's between me and my wife." Enrique glanced at him indifferently. In an instant, he returned to the cold, domineering CEO, as if the broken man moments ago had never existed.

At the emergency room doors, two tall men stood silent. One stood straight, exuding a cold aura. The other leaned against the wall, face bitter, as if he'd just heard the cruelest joke in the world.

They were husband and wife.

And he was just an outsider.

When Sana's brother and her mother, Henry and Hania arrived, Enrique and Samuel were sitting opposite each other, both silent.

"It's you, isn't it? What did you do to Sana? Enrique Kim, tell me, what did you do to our Sana?! It wasn't enough that you killed my husband, are you going to kill my daughter too?!" Hania's voice trembled with hatred.

When she saw Enrique, it was as if she were facing a sworn enemy from a past life.
