Chapter 9 - Chapter 9- Forced Participants

I was enlisted to participate to clear out the bandits that have been nesting the dwemer ruins.

No matter how much I refused before. They both won't hear me as they thought that I am a strong adventurer.

As in their eyes, I was someone that has been into countless battles before. As skill adventurers that dare to wander into dangerous territories alone. Also the chips on my sword harden their belief in claim towards me.

And thinking that I win every encounter that I face, as if I was still here breathing and talking to them.

Yet it was futile and I was part of it already. I wanted to refuse but I guess this must be Meridia works in some other… as I'm sure Meridia is doing this to make me level up first before I'm going to face the darkness inside of her temple.

"I'm glad to have you onboard Chad! I'm sure with your help, we might be able to finish off the job!" Zavir said that with confidence.

Thus I found myself reluctantly agreeing on this quest. As even if I am going to say Meridia maybe doing this for my sake. I still do not fully have the confidence in myself, as I still lack the experience and courage to be actually fighting someone head on.

Hearing that I am joining the quest, Elan the innkeeper offers me one of the rooms in his inn as a token of goodwill for me participating. I don't need to pay anything as it's free of charge according to Elan himself.

"Since you're part of the quest, then you're free to stay at my inn. Consider it as a token of our gratitude towards your bravery and determination." Elan says that as he got up from his chair and led me the way to my temporary abode.

When I saw the room, I was not that impressed as I saw a better room in my actual world. But I could say it's doable, at least from the look of it… it offers some sort of coziness.

Yet I couldn't help to feel the weight of expectation that was on my shoulder right now. As I stared at the innkeeper, there's some sort of hope that I could defeat the bandits that were nesting in the dwemer ruins.

I knew that even if my main quest was just to defeat the darkness inside Meridia Temple, my fate would intertwine with the people of Skyrim and its people as well.

Reluctant as I was still, I realized that I had become a part of something bigger in this world.

Elan and Zavir then told me to make myself comfortable in the room. And Zavir also said that he would come later to pick me up later. I don't know for what but I guess it has to do something with the quest that I am participating in.

I thought that my arrival in Skyrim was not really significant, as I thought that my journey was only limited to Meridia Temple.

But I was wrong, as even if I don't want to get involved in this world, it seems the fate of the people in Skyrim are in my hands.

After getting comfortable and getting used to my room at this inn, Zavir then came to pick me up as he wanted to sign some documents for the quest. He said that he needed my signature in case something happened to me.

And it also states that I won't ask for any compensation if I got hurt while performing the quest.

But it does require me to fill out something as well and most of them I couldn't fill in because I doesn't even from Skyrim and making things up might get me in trouble.

I told Zavir about this but leaving out the details that I am not from this world. Thus Zavir told me not to worry, as he will provide me with a document stating that I am a mercenary hired by him to clear the dwemer ruin from the bandits.

And so after signing all the necessary papers. Zavir told me to get my sword fixed as surely my sword wouldn't hold up on the next quest. He said that the blacksmith is just under the inn so it wouldn't be a problem for me to get there.

And I did what he suggested, I arrived at the blacksmith shop and as I got in I was greeted by the blacksmith himself.

"How may I help you?"

I handed him my sword, and told him that I need it to be sharpened and fixed as well. The blacksmith then examined my sword and he told me that it would cost me around 100 septim to fix the sword and sharpen it.

That's when I realized I had no money on me because I was trasmigrated into Skyrim without any money on me.

"Um, can I actually pay after I finish the quest of defeating the bandits in the dwemer ruins?" I asked, hoping that the blacksmith would agree with me.

The blacksmith then gave me a stare that said 'are you serious?'

"Why should I trust you?" The blacksmith asks.

I sighed, as I know that the blacksmith is right and I can't blame him as I would have said the same thing too. I then looked at him straight in his eyes as I replied.

"Look, I'll pay you double the amount if I don't make it back here alive."

I can't believe that I just said that to the blacksmith, but what else could I do? I really need to fix my sword for the upcoming quest, I can't even survive without a sword to protect myself.

I was prepared to hear a no from him but instead he told me okay.

"Let me see your sword before I agree on your deal so I could judge if your sword is worth it or not." The blacksmith said as he held out his hands waiting for me to give my sword to him.

I complied with his request and handed over my sword to him. He took it carefully, and began examining my sword. He didn't take long as he handed it back to me a few seconds later.
