Chapter 114 - 114 2nd isle

The moment the tram came to a halt with a mechanical hiss, Velren was already moving. He hopped out the moment the doors slid open, his boots landing onto solid ground with a dull thud. A breath of fresh air filled his lungs, and he exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders as tension he hadn't even realized he'd been holding finally eased.

"Fresh air at last!"

It wasn't that the tram's interior had been unbearable. The dim, ambient hum of its machinery had been oddly calming in its own way, and the seats were comfortable enough. But after hearing Raine's unnervingly casual statement about what would happen if their destination decided to collapse mid-journey, sitting in that confined space for any longer had made his stomach twist. The thought of falling endlessly into the unknown while being trapped inside a metal box? No, thanks.
