Thanos! Anyone who knows even a little about the Avengers knows who he is. In the original Infinity War, he almost crushed the entire Avengers alone. Such power is so strong it's suffocating.
Fight him? Alex had no confidence at all. Seeing that Thanos had actually crossed time and space and appeared on Earth, Alex was shocked.
Thanos was very tall and looked down at Alex, like an adult looking at a child. There was a look of interest in his eyes. At the same time, he opened his palm and reached for Alex directly.
Thanos's speed was not fast, but it made people feel it was impossible to dodge. This move was like an eagle catching a chick.
Kick!
Seeing Thanos appear, Alex shouted in his heart. This was the only skill he could rely on.
Kick would not cause real damage, it was just a control skill. Alex was not sure whether this would work on Thanos.
However, this was Alex's only hope in the face of Thanos.
With a whoosh, Alex raised his foot and kicked out like lightning. This kick hit Thanos firmly, and then the invisible force directly pushed Thanos's body to fly backward.
Thanos had not yet completely stepped out of the space channel but was kicked back by Alex.
Swish!Almost at the same time, Alex's mind scepter pierced into the wormhole machine. The machine stopped running instantly. The huge wormhole in the sky could be seen shrinking and slowly closing at this moment.
Almost at the same time, the space channel created by Thanos also closed and disappeared…
Bang!On Titan, Thanos's body flew backwards and then hit the ground, landing in an awkward position.
Quickly getting up, Thanos's eyes showed a serious look.
Thanos felt that he knew all the superheroes on Earth well, but only Alex's strength was hard to guess.
Should he be called strong? He had fought Loki many times and had never defeated Loki head-on.
But should he be called weak? He could kick a Leviathan away, and ordinary soldiers were not qualified to get close to him.
So Thanos felt he could not judge Alex's strength. He had shown up himself to test him, but he did not expect to be kicked back.
"Who is this Alex?" For Thanos, being kicked was nothing. What he cared about was Alex's strength.
As a strategist who always planned ahead, Thanos did not like any variable in his plans. If Alex's strength was not clear, it would be a huge variable in the future.
----------
As the wormhole in the sky sealed shut, Alex finally felt a massive weight lift from his chest. His legs almost gave way as he leaned heavily on the Mind Scepter for support.
It had been terrifying — one moment he was fighting beside the Avengers, and the next, Thanos himself had appeared right before him. That sight alone nearly made Alex's heart leap out of his chest.
If he had to describe it, it felt like a group of friends casually playing cards, all exchanging harmless moves — then suddenly, someone slammed down a pair of black jokers with a deadpan face…
"Hey, are you alright?" Seeing Alex nearly collapse, Captain America stepped forward and quickly caught him by the arm.
Tony and the others nearby turned to look at Alex too, puzzled. They couldn't figure out why he looked so shaken when the battle had clearly ended.
"Didn't any of you see it just now?" Alex looked at Steve and the rest, genuine surprise flashing across his face.
"See what?" Steve and Tony exchanged glances, equally bewildered. Clearly, they had no clue what Alex was talking about.
"So, I was the only one who saw Thanos standing there?" Alex scanned Thor and the others, realising from their blank looks that none of them had seen it.
"It's fine… really, it's nothing…" Since the others hadn't witnessed it, Alex chose not to press the point.
But deep down, a chill settled in his mind. A pressure he couldn't shake tightened around his heart.
At first, he'd thought Thanos tearing through space like that was just a ripple from his own interference — the so-called butterfly effect. Maybe Thanos was forced to step in personally. But if none of the Avengers had seen him, did that mean Thanos had appeared for him alone?
The realisation made Alex's chest feel even heavier. Just the thought that he might have drawn Thanos' eye left a shadow of unease that refused to fade.
"Okay, don't fight, you'll really kill him if you start swinging again…" At this point, Thor stepped forward and blocked the Hulk's path.
Poor Loki — his body might be sturdy, but in front of the Hulk, he looked like a helpless little chick, utterly battered and with no chance to resist.
Lying there on the floor with vacant eyes, he looked like a fragile young girl who'd just been roughed up by a dozen thugs in turn.
There's an old saying — a person's jealousy only flares for someone just slightly stronger than them. If the other person is far stronger, there's no jealousy at all, only fear.
Same for Loki. He'd always been humiliated at the hands of Alex, which left him burning with resentment. He'd tried to get his revenge more than once, his hatred for Alex only growing deeper over time.
But this thrashing from the Hulk? It completely broke Loki's fighting spirit. Forget revenge — if Loki saw the Hulk again, he'd probably scamper away without a second thought.
"Ah, the battle's finally over. That wasn't easy…" Captain America let out a long sigh as the space wormhole sealed shut behind them. A hint of relief softened his voice.
After all, the Avengers weren't some official task force under any government's thumb — once the fight was done, no one needed to file a report to any politician.
When the dust settles, they'd all go their separate ways. But that bond — the trust forged in battle — that stayed with them.
"Hey, Thor, I see your forehead's gone dark. Looks like you've got some bad luck brewing…" Alex suddenly piped up, his tone carrying a trace of playful mischief just as the team was about to disperse.
"What does that even mean?" Thor shot him a puzzled look, clearly having no idea what Alex was on about.
"Come on, stretch out your palm. I know a bit of Astrology— read the lines on your hand, see a glimpse of your future…"
Alex was at it again — same old trick, but this time his real aim was to study the bloodline of Thor, the proud prince of Asgard.
