Chapter 2 - prologue

The sun showed through the glass ceiling into the Queens Garden as she sat running her hand over her swollen belly. Queen Calixtes soft blue curly hair framed her delicate round face as the sun made her caramel skin glow. She opened one of her soft purple eyes to look at her husband.

"Ciro, I do wish you would hold me and relax," she softly said to the man that stood a few feet from her. Czar Ciro stood near his wife concern written on his sharp features. His grey white hair half up half down to keep his hair out of his face better. His normally cold silver eyes held love and comfort in them as he looked at his pregnant wife. He followed her around like a lost pup afraid the smallest wrong move would hurt her and their unborn children.

"Haru until our babies are born I am unable to relax even then I don't think I will! They will have guards around the clock!" He said as fluster as ever since he found out that they were expecting. She chuckled at his antics.

"Oh, Ciro you know the physicians are taking the utmost care," she patted his hand warmly.

"Now I must get up I believe your son has chosen to dance about," she chuckled as her stomach became uncomfortable from sitting to long.

Once she stood up she felt her world tilt upside down and she stumbled into her husband's arms.

"Haru?" He asked her as he grabbed her and steadied her.

"That's odd something... something… I think Eryx is-"she was unable to finish her sentence when her face contorted as excruciating pain ripped through her as if her heart was ripping in half. Her hair and eyes deepened in color showing the amount of pain she was experiencing. She clutched her chest above her heart feeling her brother her twin leaves this world behind. She was gasping for air as she looked at her husband frantically.

"Calixte!" He picked her up into his arms and rushed her to the infirmary. The doctors tried their best to stabilize her but the loss of a twin to a fae is like loosing half of themselves. They share a life force so when one dies it nearly always kills the other.

"We must summon the Aenor. He is the only one that may be able to save the queen," the head physician said to the king. The king looked on broken that his wife his reason of living could possibly die with their unborn children. He looked at the doctor and nodded his head.

"Yes sum-"

"Where is she?" A voice boomed through the halls

"Yu xuan!" The Czar called as he looked and saw his wife's brother also known as the Aenor rushing down the hall. His appearance disheveled and his clothes askew. "Please shes in here,"

"Move out of my way!" He demanded and everyone parted. The Czar could only watch as he looked on at his brother-in-law using his magic on his wife. His brother-in-law still wore the veil to cover his face and wore his large cloak. It felt like hours even years that he stood there watching helplessly. He was not sure when yu xuan came to stand in-front of him but he was startled still the same.

"Is she okay?" His voice cracking from unuse. Yu Xuan looked exhausted and as if he aged a few years. His posture was slumped as using so much of his magic drained him.

"She is stable for now but she will never be the same Ciro. I had to imbue some of my magic with hers to seal of the connection with Eryx," he spoke softly to the Czar who looked like a feather would break him.

"So he's truly gone then and what of the children?" He brushed tears from his eyes. He looked at Yu Xuan who hung his head sadly.

"He has passed and I'm sorry I could not save both of them. Your son did not make it I tried my hardest Ciro," he put his hand on his shoulder trying to offer some comfort.

"But my daughter?" He chocked.

"She's fine I wasn't sure if I could save her but she will be fine, but I have to warn you Ciro Haru will not be able to have children after this. If she gets pregnant again she and the child will die," Ciro looked at Yu Xuan stunned but nodded in understanding. He would do anything for his wife.

"She will remain in a sleep state until the child is ready to be born. I will stay till then but I must return to my duties after," he said as he patted Ciros shoulder again.

"Yu Xuan, I'm sorry for your loss," Ciro called after his brother-in-law. Yu Xuan paused and looked back. His brow furrowed as he looked back at Ciro he nodded and walked away. Ciro slumped into a chair unable to move from the seat and there he fell asleep.
