Hidden Rain Village.

It rained all year round. In autumn, there was still no change.

Among the steel buildings, a group of people carried corpses to the highest tower.

A moment later, white paper sheets floated in the rain.

"Lady Angel!" all the ninjas knelt and shouted.

The paper sheets coalesced into a young female with wings and long blue-purple hair.

Konan.

She glanced at the seven corpses on the ground.

All were ninjas.

And they came from different ninja villages.

Among them were even ninjas from the Five Great Villages.

They were all there to gather intelligence.

Although the Hidden Rain Village seemed insignificant to the Five Great Villages, its leader, Hanzō, known as the "Demigod," could not be ignored.

Ever since the Second Great Shinobi War, he had been completely out of contact.

The major ninja villages had always wanted to know what he was doing, so they never stopped sending intelligence operatives.

But all of this was ultimately futile.

Any ninja who entered the Hidden Rain Village would be detected by the eyes of the god.

Konan raised her hand, and countless origami papers lifted the seven corpses. She ascended with them towards the high tower.

"Nagato." She stopped and said, "These seven people were recent invading ninjas. All have been dealt with."

Deva Path Pain turned his head, his Rinnegan scanning the seven corpses.

After a few seconds of silence, he emotionlessly pointed to two of them. "Keep these two as spares for the Six Paths."

Konan nodded. With a thought, the two corpses flew towards the top of the tower, to the place where corpses were stored.

As for the other five corpses, they would be moved to other high towers.

This tower was exclusively for Nagato.

If any of the Six Paths of Pain were damaged, new ones would be created from the corpses stored here.

"Nagato, I've received two pieces of intelligence regarding Tailed Beasts," Konan said after dealing with the corpses. "I need your decision."

"Speak." Deva Path Pain's voice was flat. Even for Tailed Beasts, it was the same. In his view, although Tailed Beasts were scattered among various ninja villages, they would eventually be his. For now, they were just being kept safe. This was the confidence of a god.

"The Cloud Village's Two-Tails jinchuriki died at the hands of Mōryō, a foreign monster from the Land of Demons," Konan thought for a moment and said. "Although Black Zetsu did not witness it, someone saw it firsthand, and after using a technique to inquire, it seems to be true."

"No matter. The Two-Tails' revival time is relatively short; it won't affect our plans." Deva Path Pain calmly looked at the distant Hidden Rain Village.

"Okay," Konan nodded, then asked, "The Three-Tails jinchuriki Yagura is about to die. Do we need to do anything?"

Three-Tails? Deva Path Pain's expression paused upon hearing this. He remembered that the ninja who called himself Madara Uchiha had suffered a crushing defeat against the Three-Tails last time. He had returned quite disheveled. He also reported that there was a mysterious Wood Release user. Although Nagato didn't care much, someone who could defeat Madara Uchiha certainly had some skill. Perhaps he could be recruited into the Akatsuki. They still needed more manpower; their income wasn't meeting expectations.

"Konan, pick two people and go yourself," Deva Path Pain said. "If you encounter the Wood Release ninja that Madara Uchiha mentioned, bring him back." The Akatsuki's recruitment method mainly involved fighting and persuasion. For example, Sasori, who hadn't yet modified his body, was thoroughly beaten by Konan, then convinced to join. Deidara was similar; he was cornered and invited by Itachi Uchiha, Kisame Hoshigaki, and Sasori. This time, Konan was sent because it involved Madara Uchiha. Of course, underneath his skin was Obito Uchiha.

Konan had never trusted him. When he suffered a crushing defeat in the Hidden Mist Village before, she believed he was hiding something. However, without evidence, she could only let it go. Deva Path Pain knew this about her, so he simply had her go. If she could find the Wood Release ninja, they could figure out what happened that year. If not, bringing the Three-Tails back was also good.

"Okay," a ripple flashed in Konan's orange eyes. She was quite interested. Not in the so-called Wood Release ninja, but in Madara Uchiha. She wanted to understand why he was so obsessed with the Hidden Mist Village. Perhaps she could glean his true identity from it.

"Then I'll leave first." Konan turned and descended the high tower. She stood at the entrance, looking at the continuous heavy rain outside, and pondered. She also knew about Madara Uchiha's abilities. A Wood Release ninja who could defeat him was naturally not weak.

"Bring Kakuzu and Hidan," Konan thought for a while and had an answer. Kakuzu was a versatile ninja, skilled in all five elemental releases, and had five hearts. Hidan was a follower of the Jashin faith and possessed immortality; as long as he obtained the enemy's blood, he could perform a ritual sacrifice. If he had powerful teammates, this ability was practically unstoppable.

The day after the Mōryō incident concluded. News spread throughout the ninja world. Compared to Sasame and Shion jointly sealing Mōryō, Yugito Nii's death was more widely discussed among the various ninja villages. Of course, except for the Cloud Village, everyone else was basically gloating. A jinchuriki's death and a Tailed Beast's reincarnation meant losing a significant combat force for several years. The Cloud Village was usually overbearing in its actions, so many people were happy to see this. However, with the Eight-Tails jinchuriki and the Fourth Raikage present, they wouldn't weaken too much. Therefore, no ninja village took this opportunity to provoke a war.

Konoha Village, Hokage Office.

After Kurenai Yuhi left, it became quiet. Sasame casually picked up a document. It was from Jiraiya. He had left Konoha not long ago to pursue the evil individual who would destroy Mount Myōboku. This was mainly because the Great Sage Toad had urged him so intensely. This made Jiraiya feel deeply uneasy. Therefore, he no longer confirmed whether Sasame was the Child of Prophecy; he decided to find the Child of Destruction first. Otherwise, if Mount Myōboku disappeared, he would lose his direction in life.

Sasame put down the document and immediately went to Shikkotsu Forest.

"Lord Sasame." His arrival was detected by a nearby Katsuyu. It was half his height, looking quite large. However, it was still a clone of the Slug Sage.

"I'm looking for the Slug Sage," Sasame smiled politely, then bid it farewell and walked deeper into the forest. A moment later, the Slug Sage's boundless body filled his vision.

"Little Sasame." Although its voice was quite gentle, its immense size made it sound deafening.

"You said you wanted to talk to me about something last time. What was it?" The Slug Sage asked impatiently. It still remembered what Sasame had said when he summoned it in the Yomi Cult's base not long ago. If it were the Great Sage Toad, it would have probably forgotten completely. So, loneliness was indeed the cause of all this trouble.

"It's a big matter," Sasame looked at it. "How is our relationship with the other two Great Sage Regions, Shikkotsu Forest?"

The Slug Sage was momentarily stunned. It clearly hadn't expected Sasame to ask this question.

"It's quite good," the Slug Sage thought for a moment. "The Three Great Sage Regions have maintained an alliance for over a thousand years. If you have something you wish to ask of them, I can convey it on your behalf."

No vying, no contention, and still treating contractors with favor.Sasame secretly thought that only Shikkotsu Forest was easy to get along with. Mount Myōboku, needless to say, constantly ordered its contractors around. Ryūchi Cave was slightly better, but its temper was volatile. For example, Manda. Orochimaru had to prepare sacrifices every time he summoned it. When faced with danger, it wouldn't care about the contractor's life or death; it would just run. In comparison, Shikkotsu Forest seemed like paradise. Of course, this was also related to the Slug Sage's personality. Having lived for too long and being a lone individual, it was very kind to its contractors. At least, it treated them as normal companions.

"Is the alliance strong enough?" Sasame asked with a smile. "If one day Mount Myōboku encounters an unprecedented powerful enemy, would you act?"

A ripple of surprise and solemnity flashed in the Slug Sage's eyes upon hearing this. It slowly asked, "You also know about Gamamaru's prophecy?"

"Jiraiya, Mount Myōboku's contractor, is a Konoha Village ninja. He told me," Sasame casually explained.

"I see," the Slug Sage was silent for a moment. "If that person only targets Mount Myōboku, I might choose to protect myself. But I fear he is coming for all Three Great Sage Regions. At that time, I won't be able to escape either." Sasame raised an eyebrow. This answer was within his expectations. An alliance was an alliance, but when it came to fighting for their lives, it was hard to say. They had all lived for thousands of years and valued their lives quite a bit. Including Ryūchi Cave, Sasame believed their thoughts were the same as the Slug Sage's. After all, those snakes were even more ruthless. There was no reason for them to risk their lives for the Great Sage Toad. Of course, this was assuming the matter only involved Mount Myōboku, not all Three Great Sage Regions.

"You're asking about this because you know who the person in the prophecy is?" The Slug Sage subconsciously looked up, gazing down at him.

"Slug Sage, do you still have your Heavenly Net Login Device?" Sasame looked into its eyes, speaking calmly.

"You... how do you know about the Heavenly Net Login Device?!" The Slug Sage's massive body trembled in fright, and Shikkotsu Forest seemed to experience a great earthquake. Only one person knew this secret. The Son of Heaven of the Land of Ancestors back then. The Slug Sage had not told a second person, or rather, a second living being. After all, it was a betrayal of the Three Great Sage Regions. It thought that after Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and Ōtsutsuki Kaguya destroyed each other, no one would know this secret. Now, being suddenly brought up, it was naturally in a panic.

"How about you take a look at it?" Sasame smiled. When he arrived at Shikkotsu Forest, he had sensed the Heavenly Net Login Device he had given to the Slug Sage back then. Due to the disappearance of the God Tree, it had stopped working. But now the server had transferred to Ōtsutsuki Kaguya. He could reactivate it. The Slug Sage's heart trembled. It immediately had an ominous premonition. If the Heavenly Net reappeared, it would mean that woman had returned. But that was impossible. The moon was still perfectly fine in the sky.

The Slug Sage was silent for a moment, then its body trembled again. The ground not far away cracked open, revealing a huge black cube. This was the custom-made Heavenly Net Login Device Sasame had given it. It lowered its head, its antennae tapping the black cube.

"Creating Happiness with Heart." The activation sound rang out. The Slug Sage stood rigidly, its face showing horror. How is that possible?! It finally understood who Gamamaru's prophecy was about. Ōtsutsuki Kaguya. She possessed the ninja world's most special eyes, the Rinne Sharingan. At the same time, she also had sufficient reason and strength to destroy Mount Myōboku.
