Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: The Journey Begins

That night, Eze couldn't sleep at all.

Just the news that he was now allowed to go hunting made his heart merry. The fact that he could do so outside the country took him by surprise. This was practically according to his father's mindset that he would only get the best gates and incursions from outside the shores of Nigeria.

Phone in hand, he opened his Wuzzapp chat app and messaged an ID named Nonso.D.Yam

Me: Hey, you awake…

Soon, a pair of ellipsis popped up in reply.

Nonso.D.Yam: Kini? I'm busy developing something.

Me: So something happened just now… Guess!!!

Nonso.D.Yam: ...

Me: …

Nonso.D.Yam: issalieeeee!!!

Her reaction was expected from Eze. For how smart his sister was, he didn't expect her not to be able to guess.

Soon a phone call came over the online platform… it was a group call.

In the call were names like

Nonso.D.Yam

Ogechi

Kanayo West

Odinakachu

Smallie Rhey

Big Mummy Blessing, And so on.

Soon the static of the call erupted as multiple voices sounded from over Eze's speaker. It was deafening.

Soon, a voice echoed from the call as the name Kanayo West Highlighted…

"Wetin dey cause this call now. Haba let somebody rest!!!"

"Oya Calm down everybody… no need to get antsy" Big Mummy Blessings voice came over the call. It seemed to have a serious effect, as everyone suddenly quieted down after that.

Eze smiled when he heard this. This was his family after all. They cried together and celebrated together.

All Passengers of Eco Flight 216 going to London please proceed to Isle 4

That was the next announcement from the speaker at the ever busy Murtala Mohammed airport. In this sea of people, Eze sat near the exit gate tapping the screen on his phone. Today was the day he would travel out of the country, and he still hadn't finished telling all his family and friends about it.

On his mobile screen, he'd just finalized a chat with his second younger sister, Nonso. She had been abroad In the United states for the past six years, leaving the country to become a professional ascended at the age of sixteen.

A message from her popped on his screen as he picked up his bags and began to walk to customs. One was a duffel bag filled with his necessities whilst the other was the Ogbunigwe briefcase to store his weapons and battle artillery. Due to the new era of battle, Ascended with special permission passports are allowed to carry their weapons, but on a separate flight that runs in parallel with theirs. This was so as to prevent evil hearted ascended from committing crimes mid-air by hijacking civilian planes.

Nonso.D.Yam: how far? When I your flight?

Me: Just about to board, going off.

Nonso.D.Yam: ok. Send me your new apartment address when you land in London. Dad said I should send you something. And send a message when you land too.

Me: !!!

Nonso.D.Yam is Offline

Eze was very confused. He wasn't aware of his father's plan to get him a gift at all. This was against his father's nature of giving surprises. The fact that he even surprised Eze once was more than enough.

Soon he took his luggage and entered the exit walkway. His Dad and sister were standing right near the exit door with other well-wishers. He saw Chioma waving her hands frantically, trying to get his attention, whilst his father gave him a knowing nod.

With a curt nod as a reply, Eze walked into the exit tunnel as the announcer made the final call. This might the last time he saw anything of home, so he was going to relish it. A new world was opening up for him, one step at a time.

The flight was uneventful, not to Eze's liking at all. Sometimes one thought travelling by air was a luxury, but when one was in the air, you find out that you have no control over their destination, or how they got there.

His landing was uneventful, well it should have, but when he got to the lobby, he found it crowded with a mass of people holding placards and screaming in delight.

The Heck is going on? He thought to himself. Camera lights and shutters suddenly began to click, as his attention was pulled to an exit door not far from his.

What a nice smell! Eze thought, his sensitive nose picking a particularly cool and refreshing smell coming from the exit door.

He looked in that direction, and a group of figures walked out. Most of them were suited security men guarding a petite young... Girl....

To Eze, she looked young, as young as his second sister Nonso, who was younger than him by 5 years. She looked Asian, with short dark hair tied to a ponytail and metal grey eyes. Her figure was small, about 5 feet 9 inches in height, but the air she carried and her perfume that Eze could smell spoke otherwise. She wore a transparent black veil that covered her nose and mouth, fitting perfectly with her suit and dark trousers with short heels.

Confidence and Wealth.

She does smell rich... Eze chuckled to himself before turning to leave. He grabbed his duffel bag and the suitcase that held his weapons from the special customs official specifically put there for ascendants. The crowd erupted as the group got closer. He could even here faint cries from men and women, as if their favourite singer has entered the vicinity.

Eze ignored all these, his eyes on his phone as he messaged his sister.

Me: Just landed...

Nonso.D.Yam: Alrighty. Go to the parking lot, ask for Key number 343, say the guilty spark sent you...

Eze's brows raised, a smile dotting his hardened face. What surprise did his sister prepare?

Just as Eze left customs, a gaze trailed him to the exit....
