Chapter 288 - Chapter 290: Leave the Door Open for Me

Choice? What choice?

After so many years together, Li Xun had gained some understanding of the psychology of the three girls.

He remembered discussing such matters with Ning Rongrong when they were young, which was why he had been preparing all along.

And in recent years, his efforts had begun to show results.

To tame a cat, one must first stroke its fur smoothly. If one wishes to reach the stage of manipulating it at will, desensitization is necessary—through constant intimacy, gradually making it accustomed and reducing resistance.

This was what he had been doing all along.

The deep night in Douluo was utterly silent. There were no entertainment facilities here at night, especially in a place like Seagod Island.

Walking lightly to Ning Rongrong's room, Li Xun found the door tightly shut. "Didn't she leave the door open for me?"

Narrowing his eyes, he reached out and gently pushed the door. With a soft creak, it slowly opened a crack.

Li Xun smiled.

The room was dimly lit, with even the curtains drawn shut.

The hazy moonlight, as if unwilling to be blocked, managed to pierce through the thin gauze and spill onto the bed, illuminating a figure tightly wrapped in a blanket.

"How did a person get in here?" Li Xun walked to the bedside, crouched down, and gently poked the blanket.

"..." The round, bundled blanket trembled, but no sound emerged, nor did it open.

Li Xun took off his outer robe and slowly lay down on the edge of the bed. "It's so cold on Seagod Island at night. I wonder if I'll catch a cold after sleeping here."

"..." Ning Rongrong, hiding under the blanket, was speechless.

It would be absurd for a Soul Douluo to catch a cold from the chill...

Li Xun, lying beside her, continued trying to evoke her sympathy, but Ning Rongrong had long since fallen for this trick before.

No matter what he said, she refused to speak or respond.

Suddenly recalling Li Xun's mischievous hands during the last two encounters, Ning Rongrong shuddered, instinctively tightening her legs.

Though somewhat precocious, Ning Rongrong didn't understand what this feeling was. She only knew it was unbearably uncomfortable, yet somewhat thrilling.

However, compared to the discomfort, the pleasurable sensation lasted too briefly, making her somewhat resistant to it.

Just as Ning Rongrong was about to drift into wild thoughts, she suddenly felt a corner of the blanket being tugged away by a strong force. A shameless voice sounded in her ear.

"Rongrong, you're too harsh. I've been talking for so long, and you didn't react at all. You really have no empathy."

Pulling a corner of the blanket over his navel, Li Xun thought for a moment and decided he couldn't let the matter rest. He tugged a bit more forcefully.

Here he goes again...

Panic flashed in Ning Rongrong's eyes. Knowing she couldn't avoid it no matter what, she slowly poked her head out from under the blanket.

Her eyes glistened with tears as she looked at Li Xun. "This is my room! If you go back to your own room, you'll have a blanket, won't you?"

"Huh? This is your room?"

Li Xun was taken aback but quickly regained his composure. "I thought you had taken over my room again, like when we were kids."

The room fell silent, with only the faint sound of their breathing.

But this tranquility lasted only a few minutes before Ning Rongrong felt those large hands growing restless. Suddenly, she deeply regretted having taken over Li Xun's dormitory when they were young.

"Rongrong has really grown up a lot," Li Xun remarked with a sigh.

"Brother, I'm feeling a bit unwell." Ning Rongrong trembled all over, tightly shutting her eyes as she pushed forcefully against Li Xun with both hands.

She remembered Li Xun always saying how he was the one truly suffering, so why did today feel different?

"Brother, what are you planning to do about Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan?"

Exhaustion filled Ning Rongrong's eyes, mixed with curiosity and tension. The psychological advantage of being first made her feel an inexplicable rejection toward the other two.

"I'll treat everyone equally." Seeing Ning Rongrong's wary expression, Li Xun answered without hesitation.

"You!... You shameless rogue!" Ning Rongrong fumed, her eyes instantly misting over as she punched Li Xun's chest hard.

She had thought she might get a different answer this time, never expecting Li Xun would stick to his usual stance.

After all, she was the first in everything.

"Rongrong, you might want me to be emotionally exclusive, but have you considered your own constitution?" Li Xun thought for a moment and decided to use the simplest and most practical method to persuade her.

Though this method was simple, cliché, and overused, numerous predecessors had succeeded with it, proving its feasibility.

"What constitution?" Ning Rongrong looked up at Li Xun in confusion.

"You'll understand soon." Li Xun chuckled, Soul Power emerging in his hands as he treated Ning Rongrong's newly emerged pains.

Feeling the warmth spreading through her body from the circulating Soul Power, Ning Rongrong closed her eyes in enjoyment.

She knew about Li Xun's healing abilities, but she didn't understand what this had to do with his needs?

Just as her fatigue and pain vanished and drowsiness began to set in, Li Xun showed a mischievous grin.

"Ah!..."

Ning Rongrong gasped in surprise, instinctively wrapping her arms around Li Xun's neck.

...

Li Xun's healing abilities were strong, but his self-recovery was even stronger. The combined restoration capabilities from various abilities made him like a war god.

It was only then that Ning Rongrong understood what Li Xun meant by constitution.

But this couldn't suppress her rebellious heart.

She felt that even if she had to endure hardship, she wouldn't yield to Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan.

Outside, the light rain had been falling for nearly five hours, and dawn would break in another two or three hours.

Ning Rongrong gripped the pillow with both hands, drowsiness and exhaustion sweeping through her body. In her hazy state, she seemed to return to the time of her God Trial.

Though Li Xun could heal physical injuries and alleviate fatigue, his abilities weren't omnipotent. Mental exhaustion and deeper weariness couldn't be compensated for, only waiting quietly for recovery.

Seeing Li Xun rise again, Ning Rongrong's heart pounded wildly as she quickly begged for mercy: "Brother, can we rest for a while? The rain outside has stopped."

"Alright, though I quite like the sound of rain." Li Xun's mental power extended beyond the window, appreciating the post-rain scenery.

No matter how strong a Support Soul Master's physical constitution might be, there were limits—it simply couldn't compare to Soul Masters from other systems.

Still, Ning Rongrong was quite strong-willed; even exhausted to the point of falling into deep sleep, she didn't relent.

But what was done was done, and her refusal couldn't change the facts.

After bathing, Li Xun took a new quilt to cover her fair body, folded the old one, and placed it aside.

Then he lay down to sleep beside her.

At noon, the sun hung high, scorching the earth and evaporating the midnight rainwater, though the room remained damp.

Opening the door to let in some fresh air, Li Xun slowly walked downstairs.

At that moment, Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan were sitting in the hall. When they saw Li Xun appear, both averted their eyes.

The soundproofing in the rooms here wasn't particularly good, and the nighttime commotion kept them awake all night.

What's more, Ning Rongrong's cries were different from usual, making them constantly wonder what had happened.
