Chapter 150 - The Cunning Loki Gets Played

"That's exactly what I mean!"

"If S.H.I.E.L.D. really does have iridium secretly stored in a base somewhere, why wouldn't Loki just control a special agent at that base to get it?"

"Like he controlled Barton, like he controlled Dr. Selvig? Wouldn't that be much simpler?"

"Using a method where he gets captured is dependent on chance and uncertainty. I don't see the point in doing it that way!"

Black Widow nodded, continuing with her previous assessment.

After everyone's discussion, option C was basically ruled out without any debate, and everyone turned their attention to option D.

"Loki planning to use Thor to deal with the Avengers, that does seem possible," Captain America said first. "That also sounds like it fits the style of the God of Trickery, full of deceit and schemes."

"From the previous related footage, we can see that Loki wasn't surprised by Thor's descent."

"Actually, with Loki's IQ, he couldn't possibly not know that stealing the Tesseract would alert the people of Asgard."

Tony Stark mused, glancing at Thor. "I'm not wrong, am I? That's how it should be, right?"

"The Tesseract is also a very important thing, even for Asgard." Thor nodded. "Although my father, for some reason, placed the cube on Earth, he must have been keeping an eye on it."

"So…" Thor nodded again. "You're right, Stark. If Loki stole the cube, my father would definitely intervene."

"Loki, as my brother, and another son of Odin, couldn't possibly be unaware of this."

With Thor's confirmation, the persuasiveness of option D increased.

"So, Loki knew long ago that Asgard would send someone to stop him, and considering Loki's identity, the most likely person to come down would be Thor."

"And our cunning and treacherous Loki must also be very clear about Thor's personality. He knows that when Thor descends and sees himself captured, there is a high probability of a conflict with the Avengers!"

"Absolutely perfect!"

"Even if this is Loki's plan, then he really succeeded. Thor fought with me and Captain."

After Tony Stark said that, option D seemed even more reasonable.

"So, options B and D currently seem quite reasonable, both fitting Loki's behavior patterns and his motives."

Barton couldn't help but glance at these two options and found a common point. "Actually, these two options are talking about the same thing: dealing with the Avengers."

"It's just that we don't know which method Loki intends to use."

"The key lies here!" Dr. Banner nodded in agreement. "Once we figure this out, the answer will be revealed."

"Thor." Captain America turned his gaze to Thor. "No one here knows Loki better than you. Which method do you think Loki will use?"

"Damn, I think it's very possible Loki is using me to deal with the Avengers, that's Loki's usual trick," Thor said, thinking it over.

But before anyone could offer an opinion, Thor immediately changed his tune. "Wait, option B is also very possible, that's totally Loki's style."

Everyone: "…"

Right, there was no point in having any expectations of Thor.

"I think option B is more likely," Tony Stark finally said, after some thought, offering a relatively reasonable explanation.

"Romanoff, do you remember what Loki said to Thor in that video, 'Your beloved Earth'!"

Tony Stark seemed to have remembered something, and said to Black Widow.

Black Widow naturally recalled it as well. Her eyes gleamed as she stared at Tony Stark and asked, "Yes, I remember that. Loki did say that, Stark, what are you trying to say?"

"What I'm saying is, Loki and Thor grew up together. They're Odin's only two sons, so Loki definitely knows Thor very well!"

"Loki must know that Thor isn't someone who indiscriminately kills innocent people!"

"And the Avengers arrested Loki out of justice and self-preservation. They had legitimate reasons for doing so, and the Avengers aren't some kind of evil villains."

"Plus, Thor's 'love' for Earth..."

Tony Stark said this, and Black Widow had already figured out what Tony Stark meant.

"So Loki also knows that even if Thor clashes with the Avengers, he won't kill them!" Black Widow said firmly.

"Of course!" Thor nodded matter-of-factly. "Although I've fought in many star systems and killed countless enemies, I've never killed an innocent person!"

"So... what's the point of Loki meticulously planning a fight between Thor and the Avengers?" Captain America finally understood what Tony Stark meant, and he spoke the key point.

Thor, aside from being a bit hot-tempered and simple-minded, was otherwise blameless. In fact, he even held a very friendly attitude towards Earth.

He wouldn't kill Earthlings just because they were defending themselves and had captured Loki.

And the Avengers were not lunatics or perverts like Loki. They acted logically and had reasons for their actions. Even someone like him, who had committed numerous crimes on Earth, hadn't been killed.

Let alone Thor.

In this situation, even if both sides initially clashed due to some misunderstandings and conflicts arose, the possibility of a life-or-death battle, or even casualties, wasn't very high.

Loki, as a master of scheming and trickery, couldn't possibly have failed to consider this.

So, this scheme seemed a bit useless. Because, at the moment, it looked like Loki's only goal was to make Thor and the Avengers fight, nothing more!

As Captain America had said, it was pointless.

Of course, there's a possibility of conflict erupting between the two sides, ending in a life-or-death struggle. It's certainly a possibility.

However, for Loki, the God of Mischief and Deceit, to devise such a risky plan with an uncertain outcome seems a bit out of character for his status and skill level.

"Considering all that, option B seems more likely," Barton nodded, chiming in.

"Loki knows the strength of the Avengers. He's well aware he can't take them all on, so he's pretending to be captured."

"And someone like Loki, after being imprisoned, will most likely need to be guarded by the Avengers, which gives him an opportunity!"

"Dr. Banner, I think you can give us the answer now," Barton said, turning to Dr. Banner.

Everyone had finished answering the second round, leaving only Dr. Banner.

"No, Barton, you should answer this question," Dr. Banner said after a moment of thought. "'Wind Spirit Bow', that's useless to me, but it suits you perfectly."

A bow is useless to anyone who isn't an archer.

And the only archer present was Barton!

This question was practically tailor-made for Barton.

"Dr. Banner, you can have this battle suit," Barton didn't hesitate. After a moment's consideration, he took out the Saiyan Battle Suit and handed it to Dr. Banner.

"That's fair!" Dr. Banner also didn't refuse, accepting the battle suit Barton offered without any hesitation.

"I choose B, to be captured on purpose, and dismantle the Avengers from within!" Finally, Barton directly announced his answer to the big screen.

[Correct Answer!]

The system immediately gave the correct feedback.

[Congratulations to the respondent, Clint Barton, for receiving a Wind Spirit Bow!]

[Reward issued, please check!]

With this system prompt, a beautifully crafted, high-end bow appeared in Clint Barton's hands.

Without a doubt, it was the Wind Spirit Bow.

Following this, a very satisfied expression appeared on Hawkeye Barton's face; it seemed he had received information about the Wind Spirit Bow.

"Barton, how is it?" Black Widow couldn't help but ask, very curiously.

"Very good! Great!" Hawkeye's face lit up with a smile. "Using this bow can increase the speed of my arrows by twenty percent!"

Twenty percent. This increase was actually quite astonishing.

This was equivalent to greatly improving Hawkeye Barton's archery skills.

And with a twenty percent increase in speed, the shooting distance would correspondingly increase as well, which went without saying.

"Really impressive!" Tony Stark couldn't help but nod. "Now, Barton can completely beat Oliver Queen."

Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow, is from the same comic series as Batman and is quite well-known in America.

"I really wish that guy was real, so I could have a match with him," Hawkeye Barton said with shining eyes.

In modern society, archers like Barton are almost extinct. Hawkeye Barton could be said to have no rivals.

If he really encountered someone like Green Arrow, Hawkeye would be very excited.

But everyone knows that this kind of thing is impossible.

Swish swish swish!

Next, Hawkeye Barton shot several arrows in a row. Sure enough, he could clearly feel that with the same force, the speed of the arrows increased significantly.

Barton was still very satisfied.

[Answer complete, now playing the answer analysis!]

As always, shortly after the quiz ended, the corresponding video began to play.

First, everyone's eyes were greeted by a "detention room" made of special glass.

Inside the detention room, a man wearing strange clothes and with long hair flowing over his shoulders was leisurely pacing.

It was none other than Loki.

But suddenly, Loki, who had been strolling, suddenly stopped in his tracks, and the corners of his mouth curled into a rather playful smile, as if he had discovered something.

"Not many people can sneak up on me." Loki said, then turned around.

Sure enough, in the direction behind him, outside the detention room, stood a person, and it was none other than Black Widow.

"You knew I was coming?"

"Need you ask?"

The two began a verbal sparring match.

Black Widow tried to extract information from Loki, but the conversation was dominated by him from start to finish.

Even in front of the cunning Loki, the well-trained Black Widow's psychological defenses were nearly shattered, and her emotions were briefly out of control.

"Loki is best at this," Thor said, shaking his head and chuckling. "Romanoff, not to look down on you, but you're a bit out of your depth trying to outsmart Loki."

"Really?" Black Widow asked back, meaningfully.

No one knew herself better than she did. She knew she couldn't possibly be that fragile; her behavior was likely an act.

"You're a madman!"

On the screen, Black Widow was finally forced to retreat, only able to utter such a weak accusation.

"Heh, no, the real madman hasn't shown up yet," Loki chuckled with a hint of smugness.

"So it's Banner!" Black Widow, who had seemed near collapse a moment ago, instantly transformed, becoming the agent who always had everything under control once more. "So that's your goal!"

"What?" Loki was stunned, clearly not expecting Black Widow to see through his plan so quickly.

"Loki intends to use Banner. If he's in the lab, don't let him leave! Get Thor there immediately!" Black Widow immediately instructed everyone on the comms channel.

"That's quite impressive," Tony Stark couldn't help but laugh. "The God of Mischief has been played."

Thor just wanted to cover his face.

Loki, you can't embarrass yourself any more than this!

The camera then cut to a new scene.

Hawkeye Barton appeared, standing on a fighter jet, and pulled out a bow and arrow, aiming at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier.

Whoosh!

The arrow arced through the air, striking a specific point on the Helicarrier's hull.

Beep beep beep!

A red light immediately flashed on the arrowhead, and everyone knew it was an explosive arrow.

The camera cut again, this time to an interior shot.

It looked like a conference room.

Captain America, Tony Stark, Thor, Dr. Banner, Black Widow, and Nick Fury were all present.

Dr. Banner was holding Loki's scepter, and everyone else was cautiously watching him.

Although the situation was unclear, the atmosphere in the room was tense.

Beep beep beep!

A notification sounded, and a display screen showed the following: "Gamma Ray Match 95%."

"We found it!"

Everyone in the conference room was thrilled.

"You located the Tesseract?"

"I can go first!"

"The Tesseract belongs to Asgard. Humans can't control it!"

"You can't go alone!"

"Are you trying to stop me?"

Everyone in the meeting room began to argue, but soon…

BOOM!

A violent explosion erupted.
