**Revelations—Eternal Eclipse**
Khaos turned instantly to her, his eyes wide with something Ember couldn't name. The second attacker moved to shield the first, dragging him up from the floor and whispering an incantation that began to shimmer like a portal around them.
But Khaos didn't pursue. He didn't even hesitate to finish the fight. Not when Ember kept writhing on the floor like her life was about to slip away from her, trembling and choking on air she couldn't seem to catch.
He was at her side in a heartbeat, the dagger disappearing, his fingers making a quick work of undoing the top of her slip to examine her wound. Whatever he saw there caused him to stiffen. Then he pressed over her chest with a gentleness at odds with everything he'd just been through.
"Ember," he murmured, voice low and even in contrast to the chaos that swirled in his eyes, "Look at me. Don't close your eyes. You've been injected with very dark magic."
