"How delusional you're."
The King stared at her the way one would someone incomprehensible.
"What?" He muttered as if he couldn't believe his ears.
Ember squared her shoulders under his death grip. She would be better off shutting her mouth, but the bubbling need to set things straight had her doing otherwise.
"I said how delusional could you be." She said in a low voice that managed to be the only sound that could be clearly heard in the room at that moment.
His expression changed instantly. Into something thunderous and hideous. His grip on her tightened impossibly… so much so Ember feared his nails were digging into her skin until she bled.
"How dare you speak to me like that?" He gritted in a low voice, "daughter of mine or not, I remain your king."
Ember chuckled, putting on a false front of bravado. "You've been spewing so much about how terrible my mother has been to you. It's only right that I set the records straight, seeing as you must have forgotten."
