Truly, Ember had been more impressed with Calyx's avid attention to details. For someone with memory issues, her ability to capture the most mundane details and translate it to her journal was borderline impressive.

But at the end of the day, all Ember had was circumstantial evidence. Mistress Olivainne could have claimed she wanted a taste of how sleeping on a royalty's bed could be, hence why the book was crooked in the first place.

But in the act of spying there was one lesson that stood the test of time. And that would be that to get closer to someone's head, then the easiest way to do it was turn to something they were the closest to.

The Art of Deception represented just that to Ember. The fact that it was kept on her bed, close to her pillow, meant that the book was invaluable to her. Even the most foolish man would naturally thing that that was where she stored any secret she would write down.
