Ember eventually lost consciousness. That was the only way she could describe this feeling that made it seem like she was floating in the clouds with no real anchor.
She could vaguely feel activities around her. From the gossipy healers, to the knights that stopped by asking questions, and to the maidservants that tended to her. Indeed, she could vaguely feel them. But for all she knew, it felt like her spirit was detached from her body and she was in a land filled with wonders.
It probably had something to do with the drugs that she had been put on to numb the pain. But she also suspected that it had much to do with her wound which seemed to be in fact, far deeper than she anticipated despite her dodging skills. She heard one of the healers saying that had the dagger been pressed an inch further, the tip would have appeared at her front.
Water… she was desperately thirsty for something. To the point she wanted to claw at her throat just to assuage the sudden throat..
