Once again, Ember bravely took his offered arm as he led them to a high end dining hall she never knew existed for the simple reason she never had the fortune to explore this huge capital that she wanted to rule over one day.
The manager greeted them with the kind of anticipation and glee that made her suspect that Khaos had ties there. But she left her thoughts unvoiced as they were led upstairs to a more private viewing.
She wasn't so sure whether she was there to have a meal, or be interrogated given how Khaos' pointed stare kept reminding her that they were definitely going to finish their unfinished conversation from the carriage.
'I will never let you be weak' he had said to her. 'I will never let you be—"
"Eat." His voice came as a gentle command, permeating the fog in her brain. She had been so lost in her caged thoughts she didn't realize they had been served.
