Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Chaldea

The half-dead "confined" person was lying on a patient bed in the infirmary. The time between his breathing was worryingly long enough to scare anyone near.

"Is he alright?"

While his anxious boss kept on pestering him, Romani looked over the data on his screen with some concern. Yi Sang was extremely frail.

Not only was his body like that, but the mana surrounding every part of this world seemed to be rejected. It's not like taking in mana from the Age Of Gods which can destroy people from this era from within, it's a wonder he is even alive.

Most creatures, regardless of having magic circuits, should have mana and Yi Sang does not match anything besides a human being. It is such an elementary thing, his existence is jarring.

'He's lucky to have been found by Chaldea…', The professional smile he kept up wavered a bit at the thought of London.

Anyway, of course, if that were the end of it, the doctor would be more alarmed to try to do something fast, but…

"For now, he's stable.", He finally responded to the girl who sighed in relief.

'Still, it's odd.'

The reason why the patient was still alive was because of his brain. Unlike a normal person who has magic circuits as nerves throughout their bodies, Yi Sang got all of them jammed into his head which somehow sucks up mana normally.

Maybe even better than that.

Romani even looked for any signs that he was a Servant with this structure, but it was for naught. While a name did come up to match the name and possible background… it's just impossible for him to be a Servant looking like that internally.

'If there's someone who successfully revived a Servant, but failed this badly… The lack of knowledge about Korea might be filled too.'

There were possibilities, but as of now, Yi Sang is most definitely just a human.

"Hm.", And he told the director everything. "Then just put him in Team B? There are enough people to not let him die from pushing his body?"

"Huh- Hold on, we still don't know anything abou-"

"Don't worry."

"..."

Romani wondered why the daughter of the late Director suddenly matched his image. Saying things like "Don't worry", "You will see" and "I have a plan" for several years until his last trick was suicide.

'Was it really?'

He looked over the girl, feeling something amiss. Alas, there was nothing he could do, but accept.

"He was suffering from blood loss because of this too.", He picked up the shard of glass on the desk. "I don't know exactly how, but it was in his pocket and his leg was cut."

"Oh.", Getting it, she looked over the thing, but didn't notice anything strange. "Well. Ask him if he still wants it when he wakes up. It's too random of a thing to be in his pocke-"

"I do.", A monotone voice rang out suddenly.

""!!!""

Yi Sang made no sound before he spoke and he was already right beside Romani, looking at the screen and certain technology that seemed off from his perspective.

"Knowledge, a mirage of gold in the wasteland. I, a phantom digging at a coffin of sand...", Their forced expressions got even him to stop for a moment. "Can I take a look, doctor?"

"My name is Romani Archaman. Sure, but…", He glanced at the uncomfortable girl, clearly wanting to say something. "Why don't you go with the Director first?"

"Huh?", He blinked. "Director…?"

"Olga Marie Animusphere.", She fixed her face right before. "You are at Chaldea Security Organization and I am its director. Let's talk in my office, yes?"

"..."

'Is this a so-called prank? Ah, how laughable that I, after everything, should stumble into such a theater of farc-'

He stopped his thoughts and nodded. Was he not praised when he was young? Perhaps such was the case here too.

To distract himself, he looked at the glass reflecting everyone in the room and then looked confusedly at the two. Like the still-smiling Sang Yi, there was a man with only his white hair visible and some sort of giant person in terms of height.

Still, he kept quiet. They did not notice anything wrong with his invention.

'May they never learn of it.'

As they were ready to go out, she paused for a second and looked back.

"Oh. Right.", Olga smiled sweetly, but her next words were crushing, to say the least. "You will go exactly under me from now on, doctor. You proved your usefulness after so long."

"..."

Alas, there was nothing he could do, but accept.

Every higher-up seemed so uninterested in the fact an intruder was found, Romani thought stepping in was worth the risk. There is also only so much he can do so he sought the one somewhat capable director who everyone either feared, swore against, doubted, or didn't want to give more work to.

'This is what I get for getting in some spotlight for once, huh?'

"Ah… Magi*Mari… please give me strength."

And so, he prayed.

-

The walk to said office was uneventful besides seeing some eccentric styles of fashion or hair. He was half sure he even saw someone with pink hair.

'Where is this I find myself? A place with relentless snowing yet under the sun's gaze… I do not remember such a Corp having this technology or Abnormality.'

No, before that…

Yi Sang fiddled with the shard of the Mirror he had. Such travel can only somewhat make sense with the use of it yet he never actively went for it.

He did not think he saw everything it was capable of, but such an ability is worth look-

"We arrived."

"Oh…", Olga opened the door for him.

Yet, why was he here again? Didn't the questioning end?

Entering led the two to a tidy room with several bookshelves full of just documents. A neat carpet was in the middle to serve as a road to the desk and chair to talk.

Looking to the right of it, several workers were glancing with their heads up and he delivered a shaky hand up as a greeting. Feeling their pitying eyes, his worries grew.

"Short gist of it is. You got hired."

"...It's almost amusing, in a cruel sort of way, how quickly the cracks appear."

"Wait, wai-"

"We press forward, we spill our sweat and blood into these streets, and yet nothing holds. All that remains is a mess of broken promises and wasted breath."

"Just hear me out fo-"

"I had thought... perhaps... that this time, someone might notice the careful stitching we put into this farce. But no."

"...", Olga gave up.

"It unravels, just the same, threadbare and pitiful. Maybe it was always meant to. Maybe the expectation itself was the real mistake. I find myself staring at the aftermath, feeling nothing but an old, hollow ache... as if I'm watching the same ruin for the thousandth time. And the worst part is, it's not even surprising."

"...How much of that was genuine?"

"My words might be twisted for a certain conclusion yet I promise a good ratio of truth and half-truth."

"Do you rej-"

"Goal?", He got to the point that truly mattered.

"Save humanity.", Whatever humor or exasperation she held before was gone.

"...? From what?", Yi Sang did not understand what "save" meant, but this could answer him where he truly is.

He didn't forget about that place called "Korea" they mentioned.

Olga held her head with one hand and massaged it with the other for a brief moment then responded. "We have a device, SHEBA, that lets us see essentially the outline of the future, and the incineration of humanity will happen in 2019 because of the constant lack of data."

"...", His face did not change.

"Ah, it's 2019 right now. Haha…"

"..."

"Right, sorry. Our mission is to preserve humanity and intercept that end in the place we pinpointed - Fuyuki from 2004.", She finished up.

It was a very simple explanation which shouldn't make anyone accept, but.

"I understand. I accept."

"Y-You do?", And she lost her bravado more quickly than she talked.

He nodded and simply got up to leave. His new director tried to continue the conversation, but a call from a worker put her in a stump long enough for him to disappear.

If they spoke the truth then it is worth being around. One more body bag can do something, right?

His new goal?

Check a library intensively since he only got the gist of everything that was said.

Future telling device? Fuyuki?

'By this point, I should lament and accept the reality. This is-'

Not the City.

"And it was never meant to be, wingless Yi Sang."

~

I have no idea what I wrote, but enjoy if you can.

I am thinking of not adding a Servant in Fuyuki- Just Mash and Cu as helpers.

Then first Singularity already has so many people lol.

But yeah, I don't think it will happen in Fuyuki (and I also still have no idea what servant although I have some candidates).

Also... I might rewrite some parts of FGO's story since part 1 was... a bit disappointing to say the least. You can really see it's mostly gacha bait until like the end starting with camelot.

Anything wrong with characterization?
