Chapter 78 - Ch-78 Sea King Armor.

On the battlefield near the border of the Land of Hot Water, the clash between Konohagakure's Uchiha clan and the invading forces of Kirigakure raged fiercely. Explosions echoed across the war-torn terrain, kunai whistled through the air, and the cries of wounded shinobi blended into the chaos.

Amidst the fighting, a sudden glow illuminated the field.

Hovering several feet above the ground was a girl no older than eighteen. She wore striking white armor that shimmered in the sunlight, the metallic plates molded like an angelic form. Attached to her back were mechanical wings—sleek, radiant, and sharp-edged like blades themselves.

Without a word, glowing sigils lit up around her. In a flash of brilliance, ten ethereal swords materialized in a halo-like formation behind her, each one levitating through sheer force of will. With a silent command, the swords shot forward at terrifying speed, each one targeting a different Kirigakure ninja.

In the blink of an eye, ten enemy shinobi—mostly Chūnin and Genin—were struck down. Some were impaled through the chest, others beheaded or sliced open before they could even react. The swords, dancing with impossible precision, continued to fly through the battlefield like reapers of war, cutting down any Kirigakure ninja in their path. Panic spread as ninjas screamed and scrambled for cover.

But just then, a streak of movement blurred across the battlefield.

A young man, no older than his early twenties, moved with incredible speed, his body weaving gracefully through the air. In his hands, he held an unusual weapon—a club crowned with a large, green, flower-like head. The club spun with fluidity as he intercepted each incoming sword one after another.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

With masterful precision and tremendous force, he parried all ten blades mid-flight. Some bent from the impact, others chipped and cracked, but all were eventually knocked out of the air and fell to the bloodstained ground.

The battlefield momentarily quieted as the swords clattered into the dirt.

The young man landed gracefully, his grip firm on the club. His pale eyes locked onto the floating girl in white. He was none other than Yagura Karatachi—the commanding officer of this campaign against the Land of Hot Water.

Looking up at her, he spoke in a voice both calm and resolute.

"So… you must be the one they call the Blade Angel." His tone was cold, but not without respect. "You've already claimed the lives of two of our Jōnin… and too many of our Chūnin and Genin to count."

He slowly raised his club, holding it with both hands, his expression sharpening.

"But this ends here. Now."

Before his final word had even faded, Yagura surged forward in a blur of motion, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat. His club came crashing down with devastating force.

Erza met the attack head-on.

With a single sword materializing in her hand, she swung up to block. Steel clashed with club, and the impact echoed like thunder across the battlefield. The sheer weight and power behind Yagura's strike sent her reeling. Though she held her ground, her boots carved long grooves in the earth as she was forced back several steps, dust and sparks flying with every movement.

Her eyes narrowed. He was far stronger than she'd anticipated.

Erza quickly realized that her current battle armor wouldn't be enough to gain the upper hand in a direct one-on-one fight. Without hesitation, she activated her magic.

"Requip—Sea King Armor!"

Her body was instantly engulfed in a brilliant, shimmering light. Radiant beams flared outward, forcing even the combatants nearby to shield their eyes. Seeing this transformation, Yagura narrowed his gaze. He didn't know what was happening—but as a seasoned warrior, he knew better than to charge blindly into an unknown technique. Cautiously, he held his ground, waiting for the light to fade.

Moments later, the radiance subsided.

Standing where the angelic figure once hovered was Erza in entirely new gear—her armor now deep green with scaled patterns reminiscent of a great aquatic beast. Her shoulders were adorned with curved fin-like pauldrons, and her sword protruded in three places. This was no ordinary change of clothes; this was something far more dangerous.

With renewed vigor, she surged forward.

Yagura scoffed under his breath. "What can changing your outfit possibly accomplish?"

Their weapons collided again.

But this time, the result was different.

To Yagura's surprise, the force behind Erza's strike had grown exponentially. His arms trembled slightly under the pressure of the impact, and he found himself locked in a dead-even stalemate. Her speed had increased. Her strength had nearly matched his own.

His eyes narrowed.

What the hell…? Just changing her armor enhanced her power this much?

He didn't have time to linger on the thought.

From his right side, a sudden spike in heat broke his focus—and instinct screamed at him to move. He immediately shoved Erza back and spun to meet the threat.

Too late.

A flaming fist collided with his club at an awkward angle, sending a jolt of shock through his arms. The sheer heat singed the air around them, and the sheer force behind the blow knocked him back several paces.

When he looked up, he saw her.

A tall, fiery-haired girl stood confidently before him, her eyes burning with wild intensity, her fists still wrapped in dancing flames. A grin curved on her lips.

It was Mereoleona Uzumaki.

Yagura's expression darkened.

He didn't know much about these two women—only bits and pieces, enough to recognize that both Erza and Mereoleona hailed from the infamous Uzumaki clan. And over the past fifteen days, these two had been a thorn in Kirigakure's side, leaving a trail of destruction wherever they went.

They were said to be working directly under the Daimyō of the Land of Hot Water, acting as his elite protectors. And while Erza's telekinetic swordplay had decimated entire squads of Kiri shinobi, Mereoleona was no less fearsome. Reports said she had single-handedly defeated a Jōnin in one-on-one combat and laid waste to numerous Chūnin and Genin with her raw physical prowess.

Now, both stood before him—together.

And Yagura, commander of Kirigakure's forces, realized that this battle had just taken a far more dangerous turn.

Erza pressed forward with relentless determination, her Sea King Armor gleaming under the sun. Her blade danced with precision, each strike aiming to find a gap in Yagura's defenses. From the side, Mereoleona surged in with explosive momentum, throwing fiery punches and forcing Yagura to constantly adjust between two different combat styles—one of disciplined swordplay, the other of raw, elemental aggression.

Individually, neither of the girls could overpower him. But together, they proved to be a formidable challenge.

Yagura, although superior in raw strength and battle experience, found himself held back. Their coordination wasn't flawless, but their attacks came with unrelenting rhythm, denying him the chance to unleash a decisive blow. Trees were shattered by wide sweeps of weapons and fire, craters littered the ground, and clouds of dust and ash swirled around the torn-up battlefield.

The clash lasted five minutes—an eternity in high-speed shinobi combat.

By the time both sides disengaged momentarily, Erza's armor was scratched and their bodies bruised. Nothing serious—no debilitating injuries—but signs of an intense struggle were etched onto each of them.

Both parties stood their ground, breathing heavy, eyes sharp.

At that moment, several shadows arrived near the edge of the battlefield.

Fugaku Uchiha, head of the Uchiha clan, stepped forward, flanked by Mikoto and a squad of elite Uchiha shinobi. They had come after hearing troubling news—that Yagura Karatachi himself had entered the battlefield.

As they reached the frontlines and witnessed the ongoing battle, their expressions shifted from concern to astonishment.

They hadn't expected this.

To see those two girls—Erza and Mereoleona—holding their own against Yagura was no small feat. Everyone in the shinobi world knew who Yagura was. His strength was widely acknowledged to be approaching the level of the Five Kage. Some even claimed he was on par with the legendary Sannin of Konoha. Within Kirigakure, whispers had already begun—rumors that once the Third Mizukage stepped down, Yagura would be the one to ascend as the Fourth Mizukage.

And yet, here he was… being matched in battle by two rising stars from the Uzumaki clan.

Yagura's annoyance was quietly building beneath his composed exterior. His mission had been clear: eliminate these two before they grew into a true threat to Kirigakure's future. The Uzumaki were a clan with dangerous potential—especially these two, whose names were quickly spreading beyond the Land of Hot Water.

He didn't come here expecting a fair fight. He came to crush them.

After a brief lull, the silence was broken by a roar of chakra.

Mereoleona dashed forward once again, her fists igniting in roaring flame. Yagura met her charge head-on, but this time, his counterattack carried a sinister twist.

He thrust out his palm—Coral Palm Jutsu.

A surge of chakra coated his hand, and upon contact, pink coral growths began to bloom rapidly across Mereoleona's forearm. The coral spread like a parasite, multiplying and hardening, aiming to immobilize her limb and render her powerless.

But Mereoleona didn't panic.

With a Humph, she released her chakra, and her entire body ignited. Her flames erupted like a furnace, searing the very air around her.

The coral hissed as the heat intensified, cracks splintering across the hardened surface. Mereoleona clenched her fist, and with a sharp flex of muscle and fire, the coral shattered, crumbling to ash and falling to the earth in fragments.
