Chapter 20 - Chapter 20. Sarah

Before she could reply, she heard the little girl saying while giggling, "Hehehe, dad said you should bring it, so bring the food!"

She stared at the girl and then at the boy, then replied, saying it in a warning tone, "If you mortals want to die, you can look for somewhere else to die, not in this inn."

Then she was about to turn around, planning on ignoring them, until she heard someone call out to her, "Aunty Sarah, it's been a while!"

She turned around to see who it was. When she saw the face, her eyes widened. "Damian, is that you?"

Damian came to sit beside Lucian. Lucian had already figured he should at least know someone around here because he still remembered the direction of the inn, so he was bound to know someone here. He didn't interrupt their reunion; he just kept quiet.

He heard the hooves sound again. He had already guessed she might be a centaur; hearing the sound again confirmed his belief. Well, it was no surprise. The human realm housed all kinds of races, while the demon realm and angel realm were mostly filled with their own races.

Sarah turned back, looking at the person her friend had told her to look for. Standing here, from the mana surging around him, she could tell this kid had already faced hell. The look he had was different from the look he had back then when he first came here. He had a childlike expression with that scar on his face back then, but now he looked more like a hunter who was aware of his surroundings.

Then she came up to him while saying, "What happened? Your mother has asked them to look for you! Even your grandpa came here wanting to turn this whole land upside down searching for you! Where did you go? I already told your mom if I saw you, I would let her know!"

"Aunt Sarah, it's a long story, one I'm not really into talking about," he replied. Then he looked at his right side before saying, "Captain, this is my aunt. She's a centaur and my mom's friend. She is the reason I remembered this inn."

Lucian nodded without much expression on his face. Sarah had a weird expression, more like a confused expression, because she couldn't understand why an awakener would be calling a mortal "captain." So she asked, "Little Damian, why did you introduce me like that?"

He laughed nervously before replying, "Well, he is blind and can't see. That's why I introduced you that way."

Sarah's eyes widened because she hadn't even noticed he was blind. She thought the blindfold was see-through because of the way his head followed her every time she moved, so she had assumed he could see.

Then she asked, "Little Damian, who is this? A friend of yours?"

This time, Damian had a tense expression on his face while saying in a shaky voice, "Well, he's the captain. That's all I know."

Sarah looked at the kid again. She saw he had nothing special—he appeared to be a normal human. Besides that blood-colored hair, if you were to pass him by, you might not even remember him after meeting him once.

Looking at Damian's tense face, she knew he wasn't faking it, and the reply she got made her understand he was afraid of the mortal. Then her interest in this mortal was piqued, but she didn't show it.

She turned to Damian before saying, "Well, your captain here asked us to bring a mana sprout level 3 stage beast meat."

Well, Damian wasn't surprised because during the time they spent in the forest, he had already seen Lucian eat a mana sprout beast meat at level 4, so he wasn't surprised. Then he said, "Yeah, bring it. If anything happens, I will take full responsibility."

Sarah looked at her friend's son in surprise before looking at the mortal, then said, "Well, if you say so."

Lucian just stood up, saying, "I lost my appetite. Aurora, let's go."

"OK, daddy," Aurora replied.

Then Lucian turned to Damian while saying, "Where are the others?"

"They already went to their rooms," Damian replied.

Lucian nodded before saying, "Come show me my room and call the others."

He turned around and left. Damian turned to Sarah with an apologetic face before saying, "I will be back," then stood up and chased after Lucian.

Sarah heard what the mortal said, wondering who he was. Seeing the way he was avoiding hitting people, she could never think someone like him was blind. After thinking for a while, she went back to what she was doing.

On the other side, after catching up to Lucian, Damian showed him his way to his room, which appeared at the end of all the rooms. From what he could tell, this place looked like a typical hotel back on Earth, with the rating being three stars.

After getting to his room, Lucian found his way to the bed in it, then sat down and waited. By now, Damian had already left to call the others.

After about two minutes, he heard the sound of footsteps coming to his room, then the door opened with everyone coming inside. Aurora just sat on his lap, staying quiet and looking around.

Once they were all in, Lucian turned to Damian before saying, "I take it that Sarah woman might have likely contacted your mother?"

"Yes, though I don't know when they will get here. In 3-4 days if we were to walk, or the way from here to the kingdom will probably take us a week. But with them coming, they would probably come with a carriage. That should give us an advantage on traveling back," Damian replied.

Lucian nodded, already expecting this. Unlike on Earth, here they used carriages that were pulled by magical beasts. Some carriages could fly on their own; those were mostly used by the duke or the royal family. But even an earl family like Rufus was known for their wealth, so if they were coming in a carriage, it would be considerable indeed.

Then Lucian turned to Aria, saying, "When we get to the kingdom, you are going with Julia and will be with her until she gets back into Academy. Try to find a way to get a job at the Academy . I don't care how you get there; try to find a way."

Then he turned to look at Jake. "You are staying with Damian."

Then he turned to Damian, saying, "I will use one of my favors to have your grandfather get Jake into the Academy."

Then he turned to the twins. "Hope I don't need to tell you guys anything?"

They both nodded. Lucian raised his brows before saying, "You know I can't see, right?"

Then they both replied, "Sorry, chief! We understand—try to get to the Academy ."

Lucian nodded, then said, "I will look for a way to have that Sarah woman be your guide to the elf settlement. I heard centaurs are very close to the elves, so it should be an easy trip for you two. She's an Arcanist mid-stage awakener. Though she appears to be like that, I can tell she has more trump cards than she lets on, so she should be enough."

Then Lucian could feel a gaze directed at him. "What is it, Damian?" he asked.

Damian kept quiet, then said, "Please don't kill her."

Lucian looked at him with a confused expression on his face, then said, "Did I look like someone who only kills for his own benefit?"

He asked, knowing the reply he'd get, and sure enough, he got it: "YES!!!" And it wasn't just Damian who replied; they all said it.

Lucian heard them and had no change of expression on his face. He just nodded, then said, "And you're absolutely right. I am—but she is more useful to me alive than dead. You've already got her curiosity set on me; I will use that to drag her in deep."

Damian had his mouth open before saying, "So, boss, you planned all that?"

Lucian simply shrugged his shoulders before replying with, "Who knows?"

After that, he could hear the sound of hooves. Then he looked at them before saying, "Speaking of the devil." And not even a minute later, he heard a knocking sound on his door.

He told Aria to open it, not Damian. He wanted to get Sarah interested in him for his plans for the twins to work. When Aria opened the door, Sarah saw the woman who was about her age. Sensing the mana surging around her, she could tell this woman was a Spellweaver 5th stage. Then Sarah asked, "Is Damian here?"
