Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Amazing Transformation

"Yun, I didn't expect you to be such a good runner. You truly live up to being the president of the Jeet Kune Do club. Xia Weiwei had initially intended to use the run as a form of punishment for Li Yun's earlier dazed staring, but he not only persisted to the end but also at an astonishing speed. "Let's wrap up the exercise for today. Starting tomorrow, we'll continue with the routine."

Xia Weiwei gracefully turned around and handed Li Yun the materials she had taken out. Her face had returned to its usual calm, and she deliberately put on a stern expression as she said, "Yun, every morning from now on, I'll give you an English book or magazine. The articles could be of any nature. I'll designate a specific article and require you to read it within a set time. After that, you'll summarize the content and give me your comments in English."

Pausing for a moment and seeing Li Yun listening attentively, she continued, "I'll ask you questions in English about the designated article, and you'll answer in English. That's the plan for the morning. In the afternoon, you can arrange your study content.

In the evening, I want you to memorize vocabulary. There's no need to rote memorize words. Although this is the prime time for job hunting, sharpening the axe doesn't delay the chopping of wood. Only by enriching yourself can you find a more ideal job. Do you have any objections to this arrangement?"

"Affirmative, Weiwei! I fully submit to your wise leadership," Li Yun, noticing Xia Weiwei's feigned seriousness, replied in a mockingly rigid tone, even mimicking the Japanese salute from movies by standing at attention and nodding to Xia Weiwei.

As a result, both of them burst into laughter at their own and each other's antics. After a few more casual exchanges, they left the playground together.

Time flew by, and another week had passed.

Since that day, Li Yun and Xia Weiwei followed their set schedule for English study every day. On Saturday morning, Xia Weiwei brought a suitcase and a large backpack of belongings and quietly moved into Li Yun's rented apartment in Lotus Flower Community, beginning their new "cohabitation" life.

Li Yun's apartment was in Building 3, on the 5th floor of Lotus Flower Community, conveniently close to their school, which was perfect for Xia Weiwei's commute. The spacious three-bedroom apartment, thanks to Su Yuya's connections, came with a surprisingly affordable rent.

Li Yun continued to stay in his original room, while Xia Weiwei chose the room next to his, citing the need to keep an eye on his studies.

At first, Li Yun felt quite awkward, as if Xia Weiwei in the next room had some sort of psychic ability to affect him through walls, making him restless and clumsy. After a few days, however, he gradually got used to her presence and adapted to the life arranged by her.

After Lin Yixin left, there was another person in Li Yun's life. Since Xia Weiwei moved in, they continued their morning routine of exercising at the school playground—Li Yun running and Xia Weiwei doing aerobics.

Afterward, they would return to Li Yun's place to freshen up, change clothes, and have breakfast. Following breakfast, they would start their intensive tutoring session in the study.

After about ten days of this routine, Li Yun became accustomed to having Xia Weiwei around. His days were now filled with activities from morning till night under Xia Weiwei's "tutelage," leaving him no idle moment. Despite the busy schedule, he was thrilled.

Every aspect of his life had undergone tremendous changes, astonishing and delighting him to no end. He even found himself laughing in his sleep. Even Xia Weiwei found the "tutee" incredible.

Firstly, Li Yun's English proficiency soared at an astonishing rate, so much so that it could be described as "leaps and bounds." Recently, he had advanced to a level where Xia Weiwei had nothing left to teach him and even felt a bit overshadowed.

It was unclear whether it was Xia Weiwei's teaching method or something else, but Li Yun could now remember words after just one glance or hearing Xia Weiwei's explanation. He could even use them flexibly.

Li Yun described it as if English words were automatically drilling into his brain, impossible to forget even if he tried. In the end, he had mastered over thirty thousand words, a feat that made even Xia Weiwei, the "teacher," blush.

Meanwhile, as Li Yun's grasp of pronunciation improved, his conversational English exceeded Xia Weiwei's expectations. They now communicated in a mix of Chinese and English.

It's worth mentioning that Li Yun, in his quest to learn English conversation, began to imitate Xia Weiwei's pure British accent.

Not only did his pronunciation become a perfect London accent, but he could also mimic Xia Weiwei's voice so convincingly that the first time he imitated her in the evening, it startled her.

For this, Li Yun received no shortage of scolding from "Teacher Xia."

In recent days, Xia Weiwei had also started "tutoring" him in French, Russian, and Latin. Li Yun, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, dove into the ocean of learning, voraciously absorbing all sorts of information.

Initially, Li Yun only read books on economics and management, but with his newfound photographic memory, he quickly devoured all the books in Xia Weiwei's dormitory.

Eventually, he immersed himself in the library, reading every book he could find, covering astronomy, geography, economics, literature, medicine, and more.

In just a few days, Li Yun had gone through thousands of books. Knowledge enriched his mind, and it seemed as if a brand-new world had opened up before him.

Secondly, Li Yun's physical condition underwent a revolutionary change.

At over twenty years old, Li Yun's height had increased from 180 cm to 185 cm. Originally, their heights were similar; Xia Weiwei had a standard height of 170 cm. But now, even with high heels, she only reached his nose tip.

Additionally, Li Yun's daily exercise volume kept growing. The distance remained the same, but his speed increased. He distinctly felt his body becoming lighter and faster with each run, almost as if he were floating.

Moreover, after running, he didn't pant or feel tired; instead, he felt more energetic. It was only when he noticed people looking at him strangely that he realized he needed to control his emotions and slow down his running speed to avoid being seen as a monster.

For the past month, he had been consciously doing just that.

Apart from these noticeable changes, there were other subtle transformations in Li Yun's body that he hadn't paid much attention to and thus overlooked.
