Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

"The fight isn't going to be easy, Mr. Holt"

Alex's voice rang in Holt's head for the nth time. As Alex left for his suite, Holt let himself fall on his bed in exasperation. He looked up at his ceiling "Why do I never get sincere girls, even my Mate isn't trustworthy" he asked rhetorically.

When he thought of this, he immediately grabbed his phone and called his chief bodyguard, "I need you to find a woman for me, keep looking till you bring her back to me ".

Gia sped through the roads like their lives depended on it till they were at the outskirts of the city, only then did she slow down. Genovese Hill wasn't that far anymore, in short, they were already there. Gia drove for like two miles then sharply turned left.

The hill, shrouded in an air of foreboding is a rugged terrain dominated by the imposing presence of the Genovese gang. Twisted trees loomed over the place like sentinels and overgrown vegetation, a perfect place to hide their hideous activities.

An unpaved road snakes up the hill, guarded by burly men with stern faces, all dressed in black. They exuded an unmistakable aura of authority. The way they carried themselves and inspected every living thing passing by the hill spoke volumes about the gang's control over their territory.

At the crest of the hill stood a fortress-like compound. Its walls were tall and imposing, topped with barbed wires and surrounded by surveillance cameras.

There were buildings everywhere but the most outstanding one was a huge mansion right in the middle, this was where Don Klaus Axel resided. The mansion screamed luxury with large windows that offered a view of the surrounding landscape that spoke of wealth and power.

As Gia went past the security checkpoint and into the compound, it's been three months but they never got used to the feeling of power, secrecy, and potential violence. It was a place where loyalty reigned supreme and betrayal was punished by instant torture and death.

No one ever dared to betray the ruthless mafia boss who had no weakness. On one of such rare occasions, the victim was fed his own blood and flesh.

As the twins walked into the mansion, Klaus was already awaiting their return in his study room. He was flipping through some books when they knocked and waited for his permission. "If it's not the sisters, then get lost ", a cold voice said from the study.

Mia and Gia looked at each other, then Mia reached for the door handle, bending its knob, the door opened to reveal a strikingly handsome young boy, he looked like he was in his mid-twenties.

Klaus leaned lazily on the desk in front of him, his hands casually supporting his chin, and his eyes were cast down at the books on the desk.

The twins still couldn't get used to his domineering aura even after three months of staying with him. Klaus finally looked up at them, saying in a voice as cold as ice "Report".

Gia spoke up first, "The mission was a success, we were both successful ". Klaus was silent for a moment, his intense gaze not leaving their eyes. The twins held their breath, and after what seemed like an eternity, he finally spoke "Place it on the table ".

They did as they were instructed and turned to leave when Klaus caught sight of blood on Gia's arm. " wait" he stood up, slowly walking towards them, "did you get into a fight? ", he asked crouching down to Gia's height. Gia was flustered but she tried her best to hide it, "of course not".

He stared into her eyes, and for a moment Gia thought he was going to kiss her. Klaus raised her arms but Gia was so drowned in his eyes that she didn't realize what was happening. His baritone voice brought her back to reality "Why is there blood on your arm?".

Gia's eyes widened, "that's impossible, I never got into a fight ". Klaus couldn't help glancing at Mia, she kept her gaze on the floor though, standing there like a statue. He sized her up, ensuring she wasn't injured anywhere and when he was certain, he asked Mia to go back while Gia stayed.

Mia didn't seem happy about his decision but left anyway. Klaus kept his cool till he was sure Mia had gone out of earshot. He turned his scrutinizing gaze back to Gia and bellowed "What the hell happened, Mia didn't get hurt or harassed by anyone right?". Gia knew about his secret feelings for Mia, though he never showed it in front of her.

She wasn't bothered about it though, "as far as it wasn't her hero in shining armor that saved her that faithful night, then she was fine with it ". Mischief flashed through her eyeballs, "How about I try to set them up, or Klaus is going to keep his feelings hidden forever".

Gia sighed and said "We, I mean she was almost raped by Mr Holt, by the time I could come in to save her, he already chained her hands and legs, you weren't able to see it because she deliberately covered it. That's when I arrived and punched him in the face, making my arms to be stained ". She extended her right arm once more to make her blatant lie more believable.

Klaus felt like he lost it, he commanded her, "Bring me the first aid box, and I'll attend to her myself ". Gia ran out of the room excitedly, she screamed "At your service, sire".

However Mia was feeling downcast, "it's so clear he doesn't even want me around, but does he have to make it obvious ", recalling the way he looked at her back at his study, she shivered.

Her mind subconsciously drifted back to Holt, the look in his eyes had been so gentle, she wasn't sure as to why she felt a deep connection to him but when she had looked into his eyes last night, she felt something stir within her. The way he cuddled her as soon as she told him she was feeling cold, made her feel warmth.

She didn't realize she was smiling till her room door burst open revealing an enraged Klaus.
