Chapter 9 - Power Rangers - The Hint —1

You know, I had expected my life to be nothing but bland in my first life.

Wake up, go to work, get back and hopefully have enough money to spend on myself, that last one rarely happened though.

And for the most part, that had actually been what my life came up to be.

So it came as a sudden surprise when out of nowhere I had kidnapped, drugged and sent to an island on the middle of the ocean.

That's when my life truly changed.

I had been part of this secret project by a rogue government organisation that sought to bring humans to new heights.

Said new heights meant injecting me and my fellow fucking prisoners with experimental serums and seeing the effects they had on us, assholes the lot of them.

Said experimental sessions had high mortality rates might I add, but those that survived came back changed.

For some, that wasn't the best thing.

My first session had me slowly transitioning from and unhealthy mess of skin and bones to someone that looked like they had trained for a good chunk of their life.

I had increased strength, speed, regeneration and the thing that set me off the most, i gained an increased intuition of sorts.

I had the ability to know things when I possibly shouldn't have, this started with me just getting a bad feeling when I was gonna do something.

Like for example, some of the prisoners with me, those that didn't mutate into abominations or had their mutations in the low risk side devised a plan to break out.

With their newly gained physiques and supernatural powers they thought that they could achieve this.

My intuition told me that if I did go with them I would probably not survive, so I did the only thing I could.

I shut my mouth up and walked away.

There were threats at me for refusing but I didn't relent but a simple reassurance that I wouldn't rat them out had them off my back.

And no everyone's surprise, excluding me of course, they were caught.

Then they were tortured before again being subjected to more experimental tests.

None came back from them.

But of course, I wasn't safe from the routine experiments myself which had an even higher mortality rate.

Though the scientists working on us didn't care as everyday you'd find a new addition to our little cellblocks, all from different countries.

I was lucky enough to be able to survive 5 serum injections.

Every single one of them boosted my strength, speed and regeneration which was probably why I still survived through all the shit I had been put through.

But just after surviving my fifth session, my ability mutated or changed.

Instead of the feeling that nagged at my head which had grown clearer and clearer with each session.

Instead I now saw boxes, with fucking words that would dictate my every move.

It started small, with things like this.

[—Walking to cellblock 5 will find you in the midst of a riot, you will be badly maimed.]

I had been surprised at first, thinking this was my salvation, a system!

But nope, just my ability and probably my own subconscious finding a way to better transmit the intuitive information to my head.

My intuitive senses seemed to have bordered to fucking future telling, even without a system, I was still happy about this evolution.

So using it tried and devised many ways for me to escape, but my intuitive interface always shot those thoughts down, hard.

[—You have less than 0.00003% chance of escaping.]

That was what I had obtained when I had tried actively using my ability to gain information voluntarily.

When I tried going deeper I obtained even more information, at the sake of my stamina because of course my abilities ran on something.

[—You and every single Ascended in this facility are being watched 24/7 by thousands of people each designated to a certain ascended.]

That was how I had found out that I was an ascended, that was what we were called anyway.

I obtained a lot of information by just sitting on my bed and asking my power random shit just to get over the boredom and dread I felt at every waking moment thinking that day would be my last.

Such as that I was in the middle of the ocean, that I had a schedule set up for me in a couple of days from then.

That a guy was being bent over on the cell next to me by a bunch of other prisoners and was about to be molested.

That the chances of that happening to me was less than 2%.

That the chance that I would be able to go home was less than 0%.

That the chances of me during that one had been 79% which surprised me enough that I had asked further.

The answer I was given was that my body was highly receptive to genetic engineering which would only mean that I would probably survive longer than most, I still don't know whether that had been a good thing or not.

But of course, I never got to live to see how much further my ability could go as that had seriously been the only thing that I could look forward to.

I didn't get to live long enough because the scientists just had to fuck up.

They took an ascended that was on his forth serum injection with the ability to open up controllable fucking black-holes, then they injected them with the fifth injection and to no one's surprise, the guy fucking turned into a literal singularity and in doing so sucked us in it.

So of course we all died.

Atleast that was what my intuitive interface was telling me.

[—Everyone that was affected by the singularity has perished.]

So which brings me to here.

Floating, as freaking transparent ghost in the dark abyss with nothing but my ability which I still don't know how it still was present with me having died and all.

" Ah? Another visitor?"

Then everything just had to become even worse as a fucking hand that seemed to be made out of literal space, stars and galaxies picked me up and then I knew no more.
