Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Calm Before the Storm

It had been ten days since that fateful day, the day when the celestial chains rattled and the ancient mirror activated. In these ten days, the universe had stirred. Giants from the deepest corners of existence emerged from their long slumbers. Supreme forces scrambled for any fragment of information they could get their hands on, desperate to uncover the source of the celestial disturbance.

But in the forgotten corner of the universe, nestled in the silent embrace of the Celestial Sect, peace reigned. No one, not a single being in the vastness of space, gave a thought to this seemingly insignificant sect. The universe, busy with its own turmoil, had forgotten about the Celestial Sect. The whispers of the distant past seemed as though they had never existed, and the Celestial Sect continued to be overlooked, its secrets and mysteries lying dormant.

Yuan Xian, the leader of the Celestial Sect, found himself in a unique situation. After the incident in the main hall—the rattling chains, the activation of the mirror, and the strange message from the ancient being—he had brought Lin Hai to his own home. He had been trying to understand what had happened, why the chains had moved, why the mirror had activated, and what role Lin Hai had to play in all this.

In his private chambers, Yuan Xian had asked Lin Hai questions—so many questions. It was as if he was trying to fill in the gaps, to unravel the mystery of the boy who seemed to have activated the dormant power hidden within the ancient mirror. He asked him about his life, his upbringing, the smallest details of his existence. "Where were you born? What was the name of your childhood friend? How many times do you go to the toilet each day?"

It felt like the questions would never stop. But Yuan Xian was not being overly inquisitive out of mere curiosity. He was searching for a clue, any clue, that could explain the connection between Lin Hai and the celestial mirror.

Meanwhile, Lin Hai found himself in a strange and surreal situation. He ate, slept, and lived in the sect leader's home for the past ten days, but the entire ordeal felt as though it was happening to someone else. Confusion gnawed at him. He didn't know what to do with the sudden change in his life, or what role he was meant to play in the events unfolding around him.

He wasn't even sure if he had any part to play at all. All he had done was fight in the arena, gaining some recognition—only to be thrust into the middle of a situation he could barely understand. The strange power he felt when fighting the bully in the arena had pushed him into a new realm of strength, but it didn't make him feel any more certain of his purpose.

As for Yuan Xian, the sect leader was equally at a loss. He had received the message from the mysterious being, telling him that the one who could awaken the dormant mirror was the key. But now, the being had gone silent. There were no more messages, no more guidance. Yuan Xian had no idea what to do next, or how to lead the Celestial Sect toward its destiny.

The only connection between him and the ancient celestial chains was Lin Hai, and even that felt like a fragile thread. He had no will, no power, and no courage to contact the being again. The chains rattled, the mirror activated—but then… nothing.

The days passed in a strange, uneasy silence. The Celestial Sect, once a powerful force in the universe, had been left in a state of uncertainty. Yuan Xian could feel the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him, but he didn't have the answers. His own confusion mirrored the unease that lingered in the Celestial Sect's halls.

At times, Yuan Xian would stare at the distant stars, wondering if they would ever again see the glory that had once belonged to his sect. He knew that the high-tier sects and the powerful beings from the central universe were out there, watching, waiting. But for now, there was nothing.

Lin Hai, the key to it all, had no answers to give.

And so, the Celestial Sect remained in a strange, suspended state. The ancient being had given a single task: Look for the one who could activate the mirror. But Lin Hai didn't understand why or what it all meant.

And Yuan Xian… was still waiting for a sign.
