Chapter 2 - Alexander Han

Saint Petersburg City, Russia;

A vast cathedral loomed in the stillness of the night, its dimly lit interiors casting elongated shadows against the cold stone walls. The pews were empty, save for a single man sitting at the front. Han Alex. His sharp features remained impassive, the glow of candlelight flickering across his face. One of his eyes was typically dark brown, but the one was bionic, currently glowing in aquamarine as he stared down at the priest.

A dozen men in suits stood silently behind him, their presence an unspoken threat.

A suited man leaned forward, his voice barely above a whisper. "Sir, the plane is ready for takeoff. The young miss is on the way."

Han Alex gave a slight nod but did not look away from the desperate figure kneeling before him—the trembling priest, hands clasped in pleading prayer.

"As a servant of the Lord," Alex's voice was calm, almost detached, "you committed an unforgivable sin, Father. Taking advantage of a young teenager's confession, violating her trust, and blackmailing her for money—your actions led her to attempt suicide."

The priest sobbed, grabbing onto Alex's leg. "Please, I beg you—I will repent!"

Alex exhaled, his grip loosening on the vase. "Repentance? Repentance exists for those who sin for the first time and deeply regret their actions. But you…" His bionic eye glowed even more as information was transmitted to his brain by the Artificial intelligence installed inside of that eye.

"During these past 14 years of your priesthood, not only have you snatched over thirty million rubles from the funds, but multiple girls filed a complaint against you, but you escaped by blackmailing those girls with the secrets they revealed in the confession room. For such sins, there is only one punishment in my dictionary."

As he raised his hand, a gun with a silencer attached to its barrel was placed in his grip.

"No… No… please show mercy…"

Alex turned deaf to his plea and aimed the gun at his forehead. "May the Lord have mercy on your soul."

The silencer whispered against the silence with the click of a trigger.

The priest's body crumpled to the floor, lifeless. It was a straight shot to his forehead.

Alex tossed the gun to one of his men before rising to his feet. His gaze lifted to the towering statue of Christ.

"That makes 283," he murmured, his voice void of remorse. "And I won't ask for forgiveness for this one either. If the Lord deems me a sinner, then burn me in hell when I come to you. Until then, I'll cleanse the filth of this world myself."

"In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen."

After a while;

Above the skies of the city of Seoul, a private jet was flying toward the airport, reaching the runway.

Inside, Alex leaned back in his leather seat, fingers tapping against the armrest as he listened to the report on his screen.

He was in deep conversation with the Prime Minister, and judging by his tone, it looked quite serious.

"Look, Mr. Mikhail, I understand your position on the Wagner Group, but they intruded into our extended territory of influence for the second time during the past three weeks and bombed a civilian's house. If this happens one more time, I'm afraid we will consider it as a hostile force, and Pavel will be forced to act."

On the other side, the Prime minister of the state was almost sweating bullets with stress, "We don't have any intentions to offend Pavel but our Supreme Commander-in-Chief was taking anti-kremlin forces very seriously. We ask your coopera…"

"Hmm?" Alex's expression changed suddenly, halting the conversation for a moment as his bionic eye flickered, processing data faster than humanly possible.

A red alert flashed on a holographic screen inside his head.

[WARNING: SYSTEM FAILURE]

"Wha…"

Before Alex reacted, the jet lurched. The cabin lights flickered. The pilot's panicked voice crackled through the intercom.

"Boss! The front wheels aren't opening up— we need…"

Then, silence.

Alex barely had time to react before the plane crashed onto the runway.

The last thing he saw before the impact was the reflection of his own cold, unblinking gaze on the shattered screen.

Then—nothing. Everything went blank.

A voice then echoed through the void. Feminine, mechanical. And quite familiar.

Alex's body twitched as countless notifications flooded his mind, lines of data overlaying the imaging in his brain.

Followed by that voice, an unfamiliar masculine voice spoke. "Transmigration is successful. Welcome, Overlord."

Alex clutched his head as he groggily opened his eyes, waking up in pajamas on an unfamiliar bed and in unfamiliar surroundings, which looked quite modest compared to his usual lifestyle.

Alex sat up and looked around. "What in the hell is going on?"

He couldn't help but look at his hands and legs, which looked much thicker and fitter than he remembered. There was little to no fat on his arms, and he could spot veins with his naked eyes.

At the same time, there was a holographic screen floating before his eyes, where the words were written.

[Transmigration is successful. Welcome, Overlord.]

"What are you?" He muttered aloud, but there was no reply. No voice. No answer to his question. "Eva?" He called out. No response from his Artificial Intelligence either.

As he looked at the screen once again, he found that the only option that was accessible was a simple button: Close.

And he exactly pressed on that cross mark.

As soon as he did it, another holographic screen opened, quite identical to the previous one. And that masculine robotic voice returned as the words appeared on the screen.

"Memory integration will begin shortly."

"What's happening?" Alex furrowed his brows, thinking deeply. "The last thing I remembered is on the plane and Sssss" He hissed, clutching his head. "The plane crashed, that's right. And this body…" He gave another look at his muscles before glancing at the holographic screen with something like a loading pop-up. "Did I return to the past or something?"

Just then, as if the system is answering his doubts, the loading is finished, and his brain is flooded with 33 years of different sets of memories, all at once.
