"I really should make the trip down to the Capital one of these days," Nevea said with an absent smile, taking a genteel sip of her flower tea.

Luka didn't trouble himself with a response, knowing that she wouldn't. She hadn't been to the castle since she carried him in her womb, and despite her words, she had no interest in changing that.

"I'm here on business, Mother," Luka spoke up after they went through the few distant conversation topics they did whenever he visited, and like clockwork, his mother followed routine.

"Then I shouldn't keep you. It's really pleasant to have you visit, Luka." Nevea mustered a genuine smile for him for the first time since he made his appearance, and it was when he was leaving.

"The pleasure is all mine," He rose to his feet, hesitating for a moment when his mother stared at him for a moment, not through him, not past him, but right at him.
