Chapter 151 - Final showdown (3)

[1st POV]

"I travelled hundreds of miles, dedicated the past two years of my life to training, raised my pride into a proper army," I said as I walked towards Scar's grovelling self.

"All because of this,"

"So could you at least give me respect and not be so pathetic?" I asked and stood over him.

Scar could not be called a lion at this point. He was old, nearing 10 years of his life. He was blind in one eye, and his hind legs were disabled from our fight two years ago.

The only reason I lost back then was because of his army of hyenas. But now, I did not even have to worry about that as they were being dealt with by my pride.

He was so pathetic, which was why I had to beat him in all fields. Be it smarts, strength and the so called army he had behind him. But even then, my ego was still a bit hurt. I did not want to go to his level even if it was just to beat him.

I gave a brief glance towards the den where the cubs and the sub-adults watched the pathetic form of their king. It was a reminder of how the lions watched similarly while I was wronged in what was supposed to be a fight between kings years ago.

Good, I like humiliating him.

Scar continued struggling to get up. It was a pleasant sight to see, but also a bit strange because I hadn't done much to him to afford such damage.

My thougths were proven right as Scar suddely burst into action. He was just acting hurt in order to catch me off guard.

I could've stepped back in time, my instincts made my body move already before I stopped it. I let the attack land on the side of my face.

The attack resounded in a thud. It packed a decent force behind it that it made me move my face a little. But other than that, I did not show any reaction. I didn't even bat an eye to his attack.

His claw raked me but the mane and the tough skin all negate his blunt claws.

Afterwards, I basked in the flash of despair that crossed his face.

I took one step forward. He stood up and took three steps backwards. There was a large stone that stood at an angle from the den and Scar began moving backwards up that ramp of stone.

He was backed into a corner.

"You are just like your father," Scar spat out hatefully and then lunged forward. He was in an upper position, having the higher ground so there was a lot of weight and momentum as he crashed tooth and claw on me.

But I tanked all that force, my feet sliding back a bit and my claws grinding on stone. But with a heave of power, I pushed back and he was the one to take another step up the ramp.

"I won't accept this!!" he screamed and then I was given a glimpse of his prime.

We began fighting up on that ramp. I continued to push him up but he was also relentless in his assualt as he began raining down attacks from the higher ground. He stood up on his hind legs and would slam into my body, tryibg his best to knock me back down.

But somehow, he alwasy found himself taking anoter step up the ramp.

Our fight was a flurry of heavy blows. It was not quick at all like my other fights. The pace of the battle was fully controlled by Scar as he attacekd from every angle he preffered, using all natural advnatage that he had. On the other hand, I was just a walking tank of flesh that shrugged off anything thrown at me,

I was giving him a chance to unleash everything he had on me. I was only trying to show him how meaningless hsi everything was.

The sheer pain of failing after giving everything you got, I wanted to let him feel that.

Scar was the one who ran up the ramp this time, but only so he could gather more momentum in his next charge. He ran down the ramp and leapt at me with all his weight and power.

I planted my feet firmly on the ground and took a few steps down the ramp so that I could catch him in a good angle. When he crashed on me, his teeth barely missed a smal on my skull. His teeth caught my shoulder instead.

I roared. I wrapped my rams around him and with a twist of my hips, I threw him back up the ramp with raw strength.

Scar released a deep, needy growl before he mvoed again. This time he stood on his hind legs again anf came down like a rocket. He act as if he was going to slam me again but then he aimed lower. He aimed to attack my under belly.

In response, I lowered myself so that his head crashed on the msucle of my chest. I raked down his body until my claws sank in and gota tight hold. And with another heavy of power, my msucles flexed and I sent him tumbling up the ramp.

Scar fell flat on stone. His side was bleeding profoucely. The injuires I had given with every counter attack build up and he was covered in wounds.

"You are stronger than me, much stronger than me," Scar spoke out. There was no longer any power left in him so he used his second best weapon, his words that manipulates people.

"But you are blinded by your own emotions and the trauma I have given you," he said, "You shouldn't have left your own pride for recenge,"

I laughed. It was a humooruious laugh this time. I found it hilarious. He had become even worse after he became king. At least when he was a rouge lion in Mufasa's pride, he was cunning.

But now, even that cunning was lost in the arrogance of a king.

"Look around you Scar," I said.

At this point we were standing near the end of the ramp, the second highest point in the Pride Rocks. It was the same palce where Simba was crowed as the pricne.

So we could clearly see the battle below. The battle between Scar's pride and my five best lions was coming to an end. Some lions lay dead on the battlefeild, all from Scar;s pride. It was not compltely over but it was clear that mine had won.

"You can't hurt me Scar," I said, "And no one is coming to help me,"

He looked back to me, this time, there was only fear and panic on those eyes.

I made the first move this time. I burst into action, quickly running up the stone platform before I slameed on Scar, My strength overpowered his and I sent him flying away.

His body rolled to the edge of the stone ramp and then he fell. His paws flailed around, trying to catch a hold and he found it. But at that point he was hanging at the edge.

I appeared infront of him to give him a final look.

This was the same way he had killed my father. Although i did not share a bond with the lion, it was kind of ironic.

"This is your end," I told him.

And with no other final words, i swiped at his paws and with nothing to hold his weight, he fell down.

His scream echoed while I closed my eyes.

And then there was a crash. The sound of bones breaking was vivid in a lion's ears.

Silence prevailed after the fall.

A deep silence.

And I filled that void with a shattering roar that declared my victory.

*ROAR!!!*

[3rd POV]

(The researchers)

The human researchers were in as much of a frenzy as the lions participating in the war.

This time, the war between Leo and Scar did not take place in edge of the Pridelands but right at the centre. The drones of the researchers could not reach that far so they had to go into the Pridelands as well.

The gorge was too narrow for a vehicle so the humans had to track up the path similar to how Leo and his pride did.

"This is a very, very bad idea," Ramirez said.

"But in the name of science and discovery, we have to see what happens. Further more we have to capture every moment so that we can share it to the rest of the world!! If we don't get the videos, people might call us crazy," Hana replied.

"That's true," Robert commented. He was the weakest and the oldest so he was lagging behind the team.

In total, there were eight researcher, and they all were determined in their own way to not miss the battle.

They eventually came onto the Prirdelands. For a moment, they were surprised at the horrible conditoon the land was in. The stark difference between, here and the outside world was vastly different. It was like the land was cursed.

But the researchers could not focus on that. They immedaitely set out after the pride again. Ramirez and Mo took out their drones and tracked the pride.

They set up a small camp where they could see the Pride Rocks. From there, the crew began capturing everything with the drones.

The researchers had multiple drones with them. They were all spare in case one drone breaks, whcih often more than you would think sicne Leo was alywas followed by vultures. There were five drones in total, enough to recrod everything that happened even when the lions spread in groups.

Hana, Dr Tonson and Robert became the controller of the other drones. They were not proficeint at all, they could barely caputure the footage. But anything was better than not recording at all. It does't need to be perfect videography as longa s they could catch the details.

So all of them witnessed everything as the second battle unfolded. The strategy used by the different groups of lions. Leo's standoff with Scar. And all the invovlement of the mandrilsl. They were able to capture everything.

But not all is good and well.

Because unknown to them, some hyenas had caugth their secnt. They were the hyenas that followed after the fourth group of Leo's Pride. They were ininitally chasing after Sarabi and Nala but some got distracted by the smell of humans and came towards them instead.

The researchers were in grave danger and they didn't even know it.

The only one who knew what was going on was Grim, who oversee the whole operations from the sky.

He made a beeline towards his king the moment he realized the humans were in danger.
