An exquisite Gothic castle with pointed spires stood amidst the bustling streets of Rome.

This incredibly magnificent building had weathered countless years, but it still stood proudly in the capital of Italy.

Even with extensive renovations, the aura etched into this palace by history could not be concealed.

This was precisely the headquarters of the [Magic Organization], the Bronze Black Cross.

Within this palace, inside an ancient and solemn corridor.

Even for a typical corridor, this place exuded an air of luxury.

Whether it was the walls adorned with beautiful patterns or the chandeliers crafted from crystal, everything symbolized the extraordinary nature of this place.

Upon the smooth, white floor, clean enough to clearly reflect figures, a graceful yet martial figure stood quietly.

It was a silver-haired Valkyrie. Whether it was the silver saber attached to the belt tanned from the hide of a magical beast at her waist—a saber forged with painstaking effort by the highest-ranking artisans—or her sharp, sapphire-blue eyes, and the icy aura that constantly permeated her presence.

Undoubtedly, as a [Knight], she was a textbook example of perfection.

At this moment, this girl, who wouldn't even show the slightest concern if enemy blood splashed upon her, slightly furrowed her delicate brows.

The girl gently smoothed out the barely visible wrinkles on her clothes, then tugged slightly at her collar.

She took a deep, solemn breath, suppressing the nervousness in her heart.

Next, she would face the most significant challenge of her life.

A challenge concerning the honor of the [Bronze Black Cross] organization, as well as her own life.

However, she was also enveloped by an air of determination, and then slowly walked to the end of the corridor.

It was a solid wooden door carved with murals from ancient times.

The girl gently pushed open the thick, solid wooden door, revealing an extremely luxurious room.

Whether it was the scrolls hanging on the walls, all works of famous masters, or the various antiques from centuries past, each imbued with the weight of history.

This room, serving as a guest chamber, exuded an antique charm from almost every corner, yet it wasn't excessively solemn, instead offering guests a refreshing feeling of being completely at home.

The young female knight stood still slightly. Before her was a golden-haired young man.

Just a single glance was enough to make one feel an imposing will that could be called 'domineering'.

Arrogant, he leaned back casually on a sofa made from the hide of some unknown magical beast.

In his hand, a tall goblet carved from rare crystal held a liquid as scarlet as fresh blood.

"Your Majesty, may I ask if you find these arrangements satisfactory?"

The Valkyrie-like knight lowered her head slightly, both her tone and posture displaying the utmost respect.

However, the man ignored her words.

Gilgamesh, having crossed worlds, showed no expression on his face.

He gently swirled the wine in his hand. The viscous liquid flowed slowly within the cup, emitting a captivating, mellow aroma.

This man, leaning comfortably against the sofa, exuded an unparalleled arrogance in every gesture.

"For Roman provincials, these arrangements are barely adequate, I suppose."

After a moment, Gilgamesh decided not to trouble the girl further and slowly replied.

He naturally knew the girl's purpose in coming, and understood the meaning behind the immense goodwill expressed by this organization.

"What reward do you desire from this King? State it."

He spoke in an extremely flat tone; perhaps no one would believe that such casual words might signify the wealth of an entire city.

Gilgamesh was never stingy towards those who rendered meritorious service; even if they coveted the King's wealth, the King would readily grant it.

Hearing his words, the girl, like a perfect knight, bowed deeply.

"I have an impudent request."

The girl remained deeply bowed, so Gilgamesh couldn't see her expression, but he mostly knew she was nervous.

"This King is not stingy in rewarding meritorious subjects. State your wish, girl."

A trace of displeasure touched Gil's face, but he still spoke thus.

Since merit exists, it must be rewarded. This is his principle as a king.

"Please accept my loyalty! Allow the [Bronze Black Cross] to join your faction."

She spoke thus, her voice trembling slightly.

This man, calling himself 'Gilgamesh', had suddenly appeared on the streets of Rome, possessing immense Curse Power comparable to a Heretic God. The power, deep as an abyss and vast as the sea, terrified every knight and sorceress.

In Lilianna's view, this handsome, golden-haired, red-eyed man was a calamity known as a [Heretic God]!

This world, called , was filled with mystical elements. Humans had magicians and knights, as well as powerful yokai and demons, but they were not the main players of this world...

Dominating this world, striking awe into all beings, were the deities known as [Heretic Gods]. They descended upon the mortal world and could easily destroy nations. Only [God Slayers] could punish these Heretic Gods.

The descent of Heretic Poseidon would cause tides to engulf countless cities; the appearance of Heretic Apollo would scorch the land for miles with solar heat; as for Heretic Athena, she incited war and death.

Regardless, mortals could not contend with Heretic Gods; they could only submit...

Holding such thoughts, Lilianna bowed respectfully, conveying her humility to this man.

Then, the man laughed contemptuously.

"You wish to become this King's subject? Mongrel, it seems you too can make a wise choice."

The arrogant king tilted his head slightly, contempt flickering in his red eyes.

"Well then, knight who wishes to offer loyalty to this King, your name?"

The King of Heroes' tone brewed with unquestionable majesty; the pressure carried in his tone made even the air of this world seem to stagnate slightly.

Fear flooded the girl's heart, but she forced herself to endure it and said:

"Lilianna! Lilianna Kranjčar."

Having spoken, she lightly sighed in relief.

"Then, come to my side, Lady Lilianna!"

Gilgamesh—no, the girl's new lord—issued this command.

And Lilianna, with a resolute expression, walked towards Gil.

Perhaps, even if Gil demanded her life, this girl, strictly adhering to the knight's code, would obey without hesitation.

However, Gil's next command was perhaps even more difficult for her to choose than sacrificing her life.

"Sit beside me!"

The man spoke thus, his tone majestic and unquestionable.

He issued such a command in a serious tone, making Lilianna, who considered herself a lady, find it somewhat unacceptable.

However, the girl, whose mind was completely occupied by the knightly code, only perceived this as a test from her lord.

Thus, she merely frowned slightly, a trace of hesitation flashing across her face, then resolutely sat down beside Gilgamesh, lowering her head to await her monarch's command.

To take, to grant.
