Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: Bei Bei: Impulsiveness is the Enemy!

Old Mu was speechless. He had been playing chess with Yuhao, who had known nothing about chess, and now, after seven matches… he, Old Mu, lost.

'What kind of genius is this!?' Old Mu roared internally. Although he, Old Mu, held back, it was still scary for someone to learn strategic movements within an hour or less to this point. Even Shaoze couldn't beat him when he held back.

"Little Huo, are you sure you haven't played chess before?" Old Mu had to confirm again.

"Yes, Old Mu, I haven't played chess before." Yuhao sighed as he repeated that for the nth time.

"..." Old Mu remained quiet for a while again, as if hit mentally. He wasn't. In fact, he was quite happy. He wasn't so mentally weak as to be affected by a promising young man defeating him. If anything, he was glad.

"Little Huo, another match!" Old Mu revived!

"Eh?"

Later, in the Soul Guide Department, Bei Bei looked at Yuhao, who was now talking to Caitou, who was teaching Yuhao the basics about Soul Guides. Although Fan Yu had promised Caitou to meet Yuhao, it would have to be after classes started.

So, Caitou took it upon himself to teach Yuhao the absolute basics of Soul Guides. Normally, it would take people months or even years to barely become a Rank 1 Soul Engineer, but who told Yuhao, this cheater, to exist?

Caitou had given Yuhao a book, and Yuhao merely scanned it with his mental power, completely learning the theoretical part near instantly with his exaggerated comprehension that even shocked Electrolux.

Now, all Yuhao had left was to learn the practical part and craft a real Soul Guide to become a genuine Rank 1 Soul Engineer.

So, looking at Caitou doubting his life, Bei Bei felt refreshed! Finally, he no longer suffered alone. This monster's talent could be 'appreciated' by others too!

Although Bei Bei didn't understand Soul Guides much, he still knew that learning at such an exaggerated speed was completely impossible for others. So, seeing others suffer, he, Bei Bei, smiled happily.

"Senior Bei Bei, stop smiling and come here!" Caitou said. He'd long stopped calling Bei Bei respectfully and just treated him as a friend. Why? With this monster here, Bei Bei was at most just a talented guy.

(Bei Bei: I thank you #*#£!)

Bei Bei sighed as he stood with Caitou and put on the framework of the Soul Guide they were making for him—a purple arm exoskeleton framework that was to be engraved with multiple arrays in the core for support and enhancement, but was currently just a frame with a core slot.

What is a Core Slot? Well, most of the arrays are engraved on the main core of the Soul Guide, but the connective arrays are actually engraved on the framework and the Soul Guide itself. The connecting area for the core to be placed in is known as the Core Slot.

Bei Bei was forced by Caitou to make various small movements and postures. Why? Because gauntlet types were apparently a bit difficult to make for Caitou, who specialized in destruction-type long-range Soul Guides.

So… how did it get to this? Bei Bei wondered as he was wearing a full body armor frame prototype with multiple Milk Bottles for burst hidden in hard-to-hit places for enemies, and Yuhao even placed extra bottles in his Storage Soul Guide!

Eh? Why was he angry about that? Because… IT WAS HIS, BEI BEI'S, MONEY THAT WAS GOING DOWN THE DRAIN!

(〒﹏〒)

Now, looking at Bei Bei covered in purple and violet armor-like plates that looked cool and claw-like arms, only his head was left free.

Well, if being partially covered could be called armor, that is. Yep, this was just the outer framework, not even completely done. If it had to be completely made, it would be a Level 9 Soul Guide, which neither he, Caitou, nor Yuhao could build now. Actually, no one in Shrek could build it now, as the highest Soul Engineer in Shrek was only Rank 8!

Currently? It wasn't even a Rank 1 Soul Guide, after all, cores hadn't been installed yet.

"How much longer will this take?" Bei Bei asked tiredly. It had already been four hours since they came here. Although not a lot of time… he, Bei Bei, wanted to spend time with Xiao Ya rather than two men!

"Wait a bit!" Both Yuhao and Caitou replied in sync as they continued to take apart some parts and keep engraving on it.

How this came to be? For that… we'd have to go back a few hours.

{A Few Hours Ago}

"Huh? What do you mean my defense is too weak?" Bei Bei asked, confused, while in Spirit Possession state with claws of dragon scales on his arms and lightning arcing around him, as Yuhao made the judgment.

"Literally, Senior Brother Bei Bei, your defense everywhere except your arms is basically normal beast soulmaster level despite you having a Dragon Martial Soul," Yuhao said. As for how Yuhao knew this? He had a walking encyclopedia in his mind, so why wouldn't he know that?

(Skydream: Bow before me you uncultured fools! HAHAHAHAH-*cough*)

"If they get past your lightning defense, you're basically game over," Yuhao said. "So! I thought, why not make it so that you're wearing armor instead!" Yuhao said as Caitou grinned a bit disgustingly, gold coins shining in his eyes.

"…No." Bei Bei refused.

"…I'll teach you to chase Senior Sister Xiao Ya."

"…How much is it?!" Bei Bei asked, pulling out his wallet.

___

Recalling that moment, Bei Bei regretted his impulsiveness. Much less if Yuhao could actually help him chase Tang Ya. He'd agreed because Yuhao was a monster, and this could be considered an investment of sorts—not that he actually hoped Yuhao could help him chase Tang Ya.

But now, Bei Bei was regretting it a bit. After all, he was cooped up in this lab for hours due to that decision.

Although, he had to admit… this armor did seem like a cool idea.
