"Remember Mrs. Davison's history class?" Sam chuckled, stirring his coffee. "Her obsession with the War of 1812?"
April laughed. "And your disastrous attempt at the school play! You were supposed to be a dignified tree, and you kept swaying like you were in a hurricane."
"Hey!" Sam protested, grinning. "I was method acting the struggle against the elements!" They traded stories, memories flooding back.
"It's funny," April said, a smile touching her lips, "I never thought I'd be having coffee with you again, after all this time. Life takes some unexpected turns."
"Tell me about it," Sam said, his gaze softening. "But sometimes, those turns lead to something pretty good."
