Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: Royal Sacrifice

1 Hour Ago From The Previous Chapter

"Ah, Shizuka, come in, we have been expecting you." Mizumi says, piecing together her dubious smile as Shizuka walks into the experimentation room.

The boy walks into the room, his rugged clothing dripping wet from the rainfall that has occurred outside.

Shizuka stands in the center of the ambient room on the concrete floor, observing his surroundings and taking in his environment. Toshiro stands adjacent to him, eying him with one eye, and quickly turning his eyes back to the Queen.

Mizumi circles around the front of the boy and begins with her rhetoric.

"And so, Shizuka, what is the decision you have come to?"

Shizuka inhaled and proceeded to exhale in a softer manner. His eyes glanced into her sadomasochistic and seemingly all knowing eyes. "My decision? You may do what you promised, this power...I need."

Mizumi tilts her head and peers at the boy with more inquiry in her glance. "And what is it that you'll do with this power?"

"Is that any of your concern? You offered, I accepted. Fulfill the deal." Shizuka said, building the normally insurmountable courage to speak to the Queen in this manner.

Toshiro took a step forward, his military boots being audible from their conversation. "Boy, have you any idea who you speak to? If I were thee, I'd hold my tongue."

Shizuka stares into Toshiro's eyes with a clear disdain, he squints and emits a hateful gaze at Toshiro, in response, Toshiro matches the irreverent boy's gaze. "Answer what your queen has asked of you." Toshiro said with a firm grip on his stern cadence.

Shizuka lowers an eyebrow an steps back at this demand, clearly agitated and somewhat offended. "My, queen? You're kidding me. SHE isn't my anything. I don't fall in line with your legion, don't confuse me as your soldier."

Toshiro quickly responded back, only sounding slightly more stern than before. "An intelligent concept imagined by an imbecile is the epitome of wasted potential."

Shizuka, growing bolder and more offended by this transaction of responses, makes a hasty approach to Shizuka.

"Now, you f-" Before he could finish his approach, Toshiro unsheathed his sword in such a clean manner that any veteran would sob of jealousy, the man then planted the tip of the pitch black blade into the ground. What followed was a dark, wavy, water like energy that spread through the room. The color, or lack thereof within this energy was petrifying. It wasn't looking at black, or darkness, but of the inner workings of the universe itself. The sensation was comparable to mankind seeing a sight they were not meant to see, and sending undecipherable feelings to the brain, which are sent back as cold fear. As he observed this energy of... nothing...cover the room, his vision began to shake, his heart rate slowed, it felt as if he had died for a moment. He was able to peer into Toshiro's eyes, within them, he saw the color of this nothingness reflected in them, only now it was accented with an obsidian purple behind the darkness. This color, or, as mentioned, lack thereof, was elicited from Toshrio's eyes, causing Shizuka's heart to drop below the ground. For a few moments, he believed this is where he would die, fear of this magnitude is unimaginable for any human to experience with corporeal sensations.

Shizuka was interrupted by an immensely painful wave of sensations that clouded every nerve and fiber of his body. The phenomenon felt to him as he would imagine being burned alive by the most vibrant flame ever created, it was as if gravity betrayed him, his body compressed on itself and his entire body felt as if was being asphyxiated in the most painful way possible. To him, in those few moments it felt as if the concept of physics had betrayed him and gravity was inverted towards him.

Suddenly, as Toshiro's eyes blinked, the effect was cut from ever existing, Toshiro infallibly sheathed his saber back into it's sheath on his belt.

Shizuka questioned to himself if what had just happened really took place, or if it was a nightmare of the most inconceivable fear and pain. He stood there in the center of the room, shaking, nearly crying.

"Dear Toshiro, we should not force the boy to see me as his Queen. I do not demand loyalty from any of my subjects, it is earned, if he does not wish to see me that way, he does not have to." Mizumi said, while caressing her chin and lips with her index finger.

"Very well." The obedient soldier replied without a moment's hesitation.

Shizuka turned to Mizumi and reluctantly accepted her offer to explain his decision.

"My father has a debt to pay...to my sister and I. Since the government won't listen to reason, death and destruction is my last resort. That is why I desire this power, I will meet that man again, and I will kill him." Shizuka said these words as he hung his head and gazed at his weathered hand.

Mizumi nodded and gave yet another smile. "A reasonable motive I would say. Family can be a source of the most jubilant feelings and moments...yet also, can breed the most unquenchable hatred."

"You sound as if you speak from a place of understanding. Do you have one?" Shizuka said to her, questioning her words.

Mizumi's smile died, she turned to the wall and fingered a few medical instruments. A few moments passed and she proceeded to speak.

"No." She then slowly turned to the boy. "Let's begin with the procedure, shall we?" Mizumi asked, her eyes darting between the two men.

"Shall I construct a table of some kind, my queen?" Toshiro asked, his hand placed firmly on the handle of his sword, as it usually was, as if that had become its natural resting place.

"Ah, of course, Toshiro. How could we forget? Please." Mizumi instructed.

Shizuka watched as a single clench of Toshiro's fist, the entire concrete ground began to shift. A faint darkness appeared in the center of the room, and before his eyes, and pillar of stone emerged from the ground, created from the concrete that lined the floor. The pillar took a rectangular shape, and was created within a moment, Shizuka was yet again stunned at Toshiro's immense power. He glanced at the stoic man to his right only to see him staring at his creation.

"My thanks, Toshiro." Mizumi spoke, giving him a wink.

"Shizuka, you may now lay upon this structure." Mizumui said, using her hand to show Shizuka to his altar.

Before Shizuka sat down, a knocking came at the door to the room they were enclosed within. Toshiro swiftly opened the door and a squadron of soldiers from Anweisen entered the room.

The soldiers marched through the door of the laboratory room one at a time. First came the Kleier, a soldier in a heavy coat reaching to his knees, wielding thick black gloves. The coat was of a grey color embellished with red chain designs running up the sleeve. On the back of the coat lie the symbol of the Answeisen, a Red Dragon formed of Chains forming the shape of an hourglass, the Dragon seeming to consume itself endlessly.

A glowing green tube ran from inside his coat and circled his arms and bifurcated on his torso, leading up his shoulders and to his throat, it ran up the dark visored helmet and created There seemed to be a green flowing liquid within the tubes, which was an unmissable luminescence.

After the Kleier, came three Wachtmein, soldiers that were dressed in a dark blue and white patterned heavy top and bottom set, adorned with the same color gloves as the Kleier, but less thick. They had black adornments for knives, utility, and whatever they would need to carry. They had the same tubes, except this time, the tubes carried a bright red flowing liquid through them. This time, instead of bifurcating, it ran into the soldier's helmet and met in the face piece, creating a glowing red light from the eyes. The connecting lights spread across the whole visor, creating a cyclops appearance in the visor.

After the Wachtmein entered the room, 10 of the Untalle soldiers followed. These soldiers had a dark green coat on themselves with a thick pair of black pants reaching down to their combat boots. These soldiers had similar gear to the Wachtmein, sheaths and pouches are various blades and equipment that they may need. The tubes also existed on these soldiers, but this time, the tubes carried a flowing sky blue liquid that formed a shaped pattern in the visor, a rigid militaristic visor like design was framed by the light.

The Kleier made his way to Mizumi and stood before her, his hands reverently placed at his side, he kneeled before her and tilted his head to the ground.

Mizumi stood in front of the soldier, her arms crossed as she looked down upon her inferior.

With a short inhale, she began to speak to him.

"Du bist Geschwader #49, richtig (correct)?" Mizumi asked, giving the soldier a stern look.

"Richtig, Eure Hoheit, wir wurden auf Euren Willen gerufen (Correct, your highness, we have been summoned at your will.)" The soldier said while still maintaining his kneeling position.

"Sehr gut, Kleier, nimm dein Wachtmein und deine Untalle, stell dich an diese Mauern, deine Not wird bald eintreten (Very good, Kleier, take your Wachtmein and Untalle, stand alongside these walls, your need will arise soon.)"

With her command, the soldier rose himself from his kneeling position, a proceeded to bow to Mizumi as a showing of reverence, and then directed his troops along the walls as Mizumi had instructed.

"They don't speak English? But, you do." Shizuka asked to her, in an inquiring state.

She turned to the boy and spoke "The soldiers in Vorne are trained equally in combat and general studies, they know the English language. When in Menschlichten, they are instructed to not use German under any circumstances, for a civilian of this realm may hear something they weren't intended to."

Shizuka nodded his head at this explanation and immediately proposed another question.

"They carry swords and not guns? Do you not have firearms in Vorne?"

"We do, a select few of my warriors and enemies alike carry firearms. But we do not give such weapons to any silier under an Elite ranking."

"It would make the fighting so much quicker and easier, would it not?"

Mizumi gained back her wicked smile from her resting pathetic face. "Ah, there exactly is the point. The suffering of soldiers doesn't last as long as they would with blades. The blood flies in such a beautiful way, that mere firearms cannot replicate." She paused and peered Shizuka in his eyes. "War is an art, do you not agree? Watching the misguided kill each other for a reason they themselves do not believe in, it is a true showing of human instinct. To kill is the most overwhelming desire of all within the species, so much so that it subsides the prism of morality."

"You're the exact reason why war continues." Shizuka said to her, his eyebrows lowered.

"War brings peace, and with that peace comes war. As long as humans as we define them exist. War will be bred. So, why not use it as a tool then?" Mizumi said, her callous grin burning Shizuka's heart.

"I have had enough of this conversation, give me the power, and let me go." With these words, Shizuka laid himself upon the concrete slab that Toshiro had constructed moments prior. He laid himself upon the cold surface and shivered at the icy chill of his skin against it.

He felt a sudden force hold his body into place, a slow rope being held against his skin. He peered up to see the same obsidian purple color that Toshiro summoned, being formed into ropes and sealing his body to the altar.

"What the hell?! Why is this here?" Shizuka exclaimed, trying in futility to break the unrelenting strands of darkness.

He looked up and saw Toshiro staring back down at him, the grey hair falling from it's position.

"We wouldn't want you leaving prematurely. That's all, relax or not, your choice.

"This is not what we agreed to, let me out of these NOW!" Shizuka demanded as his body fought to free itself only to be constrained now with a greater force.

Toshiro held out the syringe which contained Mizumi's blood and inspected it for a moment. He then turned the needle to Shizuka and held it to his temple.

"What the hell are you going to do to ME???!!!" Shizuka continued to scream and fight back under fear of what this power would do to his body.

With a swift motion, the needle went into the boy's skull, was injected, and retracted out.

Toshiro motions for Mizumi to stand back as the two move away, both them and the soldiers observing the transformation happening before them.

Shizuka began to breathe faster and in a more stertorous fashion. Eventually, his body began convulsing rapidly, his veins protruded through his skin, and nearly melded with the surface tissue. The veins seemed to grow larger and return to their normal size repeatedly over each heartbeat. His body was spasming and he lost control over much of his speech. An electric aura manifested around the boy, his limbs were contorting as much as they could with the restraints, it seemed as if he were having a seizure, only far more extreme than such a thing. He foamed at the mouth, his eyes were rolled upwards, his body couldn't stop moving itself, he screamed in complete agony only for no help to assist him.

After a few moments of this activity, black inorganic material began to form on his body, not unfamiliar to the material that was upon his scar after he awoke from his newborn state days prior.

He howled and petulantly cried as these black crystals pierced slowly through his skin, ripping apart the formations of his body. These crystals made their way through bone, flesh, and skin.

His right arm had become infested with this growth, as it spread to the left side of his body, the affected area became less infested with this material. The crystals seemed to keep the current of electricity flowing between them, as if they conducted their power from crystal to crystal.

Toshiro, now feeling that the moment was appropriate, completely eradicated the bonds that held the transforming boy down.

Immediately upon loosening these bonds, huge concentrated beams of bright electricity shout out in all directions, carving entire lines in the stone walls and even hitting two of the Untalle soldiers. One of them was sliced from diagonally down from the shoulder, causing a near instant, yet horrifying death. The other was bisected and the upper half of the soldier laid on the ground. The soldier stared at his body and managed to scream while blood gushed from his mouth, spilling all over his body, he reached for his fallen innards and tried to pile them back into him, as if it would serve as some help.

From Shizuka's eyes came currents of light and electricity. His pupils glowed with a light blue and this color seemed to wrap itself around his body. He managed to stand himself upon his horribly disfigured, mutated body.

"What are we to do, ma'am?"

"What are your orders my queen?"

"He'll kill us, what is your will?"

Various soldiers pleaded and screamed for Mizumi or Toshiro to intervene. All that they saw was a pleases Mizumi, laughing a callous, malicious, blood curdling laugh as she watched the boy mutate into a create nearly unrecognizable from what he once was.

"HAHAHAHA!!! You have served me well, men, now die, die for me!"

The soldiers pulled their blades from their sheathes and attempted to attack the transformed Shizuka, only for their attacks to have no effect. The Untalle had standard blades. The Wachtmein had blades that emitted a red aura, and the Kleier had a longer blade that was consumed with green flames.

"Men, stand b-" The Kleier, in an effort to protect his squad, stood in front of them and intended to guard them from Shizuka's newly gained power.

Shizuka had grabbed the high ranking officer by the throat, and began to test the limits of his new power. He emitted as much electricity as he could into the officer, causing the collar of his coat to burn off, his helmet to crack and fall to the ground, and for his skin tissue to be brutally torn apart. The fibers of skin were ripped from each other, creating a fleshy vile entity, that was being burned alive by the power. The smell of burning dead flesh filled the room as the officer finally stopped screaming his stomach churning screams.

Shizuka seemed to teleport himself toward several other soldiers, causing them a sudden surprise when they were lifted by bolts of electricity and strung upwards from the malleable bolts that burned away at their flesh. The soldiers were immolated as their screams turned into a cacophony of horrendous gurgling.

The remaining soldiers attempted to flee, only to be cut down one at a time by the raging bursts of energy that cut through their body like flocks of hungry minuscule blades. The slaughter was horrific. There was blood, entrails, and body parts scattered across the ambient warehouse. A distinct burnt flesh smell filled the noses of who were left alive.

A single solitary Untalle soldier managed to flee the warehouse, only to be greeted by Mizumi outside.

He got on his knees in front of her and clawed at her robes.

"PLEASE!!! Let me live! I beg you, my queen! I only wanted to serve you, I only wanted to do the best for you and the kingdom, I don't want to die this way! Please save me!!!"

Mizumi peers at the soldier, who's helmet had been lost in the escape, and now kneeled on front of her, his frightened eyes hoping to find comfort in hers.

"Oh, but you have served the kingdom. You must finish what you have begun. Do not fear, your death is but a small piece in a grand puzzle."

After speaking those words, her eyes glowed blood red, she rose her right hand, within it containing an orb of the same color. As she rose her hand, blood came from both of his eyes and was emitted from his mouth.

The sounds of the dying suffocating soldier seemed to make her smile that much more pronounced. The blood from these orifices was lifted into the air, formed into three distinct blood needles, and one by one, shot into each eye and then his mouth. The man shouted and cried as the needles shot through both of his eyes, blinding him one eye at a time. His screaming ceased once the third needle went into his mouth, causing his vocal cords to rupture and prove to be useless.

Behind the soldier came Shizuka, within the boys hand was a dagger formed of the inorganic crystalline material. He grabbed the soldier by the hair, bent his head back, and with a quick thrust, drove the knife directly into his throat. Thus, ending the soldier's life in a quick manner.

Shizuka was not able to turn this effect off, and now that he was outside, the beams shot into the sky and began tearing apart all neighboring buildings. Mizumi had vanished, he alone was left to do what he willed. So now, he levitated himself with his own power, and made his way into the city, the desire for blood being his soul motivation.

He announced at the top of his voice as he entered the city.

"Where are you, Father?! Show yourself, or else your city, your people, and your work, all dies along with you!"
