The sky was gray like old metal.
Matthew and Sora walked in silence across the ruins, their wristbands guiding them through empty intersections and abandoned alleys.
Eventually, they reached it:
A square surrounded by broken glass towers.
In the center stood a polished mirror box, six meters tall, with one open doorway and a smooth surface that showed no reflection.
Their bands buzzed.

Matthew glanced at Sora. "That sounds… vague."
"Or manipulative," she muttered.
They stepped inside.
The door sealed behind them.
Instantly, the interior shimmered—dividing the space. Matthew and Sora were separated by a one-way mirror. He could see her. She saw only her own reflection.
Then came the voices.
Not from outside.
From within.
His own.
"You blame yourself for Rin.
You liked her. Trusted her.
But you weren't good enough to see the truth."
He gritted his teeth. "Shut up."
Sora's voice echoed behind the wall, softer but just as tormented.
"You never trusted Matthew.
You think he's weak. You'd betray him if the time came."
Matthew slammed a fist against the wall. "Sora, don't listen to it!"
A chime rang out.
QUESTION ONE:
"DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR PARTNER WOULD SACRIFICE THEMSELF FOR YOU?"
ANSWER YES OR NO.
Matthew hesitated.
He closed his eyes.
And said, "Yes."
The machine waited.
A moment later, a light turned green.
Sora… had answered the same.
QUESTION TWO:
"WOULD YOU SACRIFICE YOURSELF FOR THEM?"
ANSWER YES OR NO.
This time, no hesitation.
"Yes," Matthew said.
Green again.
The voice whispered:
"Even if she wouldn't for you?"
Matthew opened his eyes. "Yes."
The final question burned across the mirror.
LAST QUESTION: WHO DO YOU FEAR BECOMING?
He looked at his reflection.
Then at the space where the mannequin king had once stood.
And answered.
"My father."
The door opened.
Sora stood on the other side, tears on her cheeks—but standing tall.
She had answered the same.

They stepped out into the light.
The mirror box cracked and crumbled behind them.
Sora looked at Matthew. "I didn't lie."
"I know," he said.
She added, "Let's just make sure we don't have to prove those answers in the next game."
He nodded.
But something inside him still twisted—because the reflection had spoken with his voice.
And somewhere in Death Land, the King was watching again
