Outside the hut, Veer still waited, tense and alert. But now he was fully immersed in the raw, unrestrained power of his beastly form, his muscles coiled like a spring ready to snap. Without hesitation, the healer lifted the bowl and hurled its contents directly at him.
The liquid hit Veer with a sizzling hiss. Pain exploded through him. "Ghhhhh—!" he groaned, a guttural scream ripping from his throat. Every monkey nearby recoiled, hurriedly covering their ears, instinctively shielding themselves from the violent roar that shook the clearing.
Yet the healer remained calm, unblinking, watching Veer with clinical detachment.
Veer staggered, wings fluttering, body trembling under the sting of the poison. He shifted back into his human form, sweat and blood mixing on his skin, and glared at the healer. "You—!" he spat, voice thick with anger.
"Now, calm down," the healer said softly, unhurried, almost teasing. "What? Now you're calm?"
