Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Seeds of Rebellion

The Observatory collapsed behind them—rings of fractured time imploding silently into the void. Jin Long and Yue Lan stood atop the now-silent peak of Mount Tianshen, breathless. The air was still, but it wasn't peace they felt—it was the eye of the storm.

Jin Long fell to one knee. The Genesis Core inside him was quiet, too quiet. For the first time since merging with it, he couldn't feel its hum. Its warmth was gone.

"Is it… gone?" Yue Lan asked, kneeling beside him.

He shook his head. "No. It's… retreating. Hiding itself. Whatever we just did shook the Eclipse Mind. But it also woke something deeper."

A sudden gust tore through the mountaintop—cold, sharp, and unnatural. Jin Long's eyes snapped to the horizon.

In the distance, a crimson streak split the sky like a bleeding wound. From it, sparks of black lightning arced in unnatural patterns. The Void Line—a phenomenon said to appear only when dimensions began to unravel.

"They're not going to wait anymore," Yue Lan said grimly. "You wounded their core intelligence. Now they'll send the real ones."

He stood, still unsteady. "Then it's time we stop being hunted. We need allies."

Yue Lan raised a brow. "Who would follow a man hunted by the Void?"

He turned to her with a faint smirk. "The ones who lost everything to it."

Within days, word of Zhan Wuhen's failure and the sealing of the Rift spread through the hidden networks of the resistance—a scattered alliance of warriors, scholars, exiles, and dimensional nomads who had defied the Eclipse Mind's silent conquest for eons.

Now, a name surfaced in their whispers: Jin Long—the one who ignited the Core and stood against a god.

They came from ruined worlds and fractured planes.

—A blind chronomancer from the frozen world of Atraxes.

—A beast-tamer who had fused with the last phoenix of Lumae.

—A cursed knight bound in living armor, unable to die.

—And even a war-widow who wielded her husband's broken reality-spear.

Jin Long met each of them face-to-face.

"I'm not a savior," he said plainly. "I'm not asking you to die for me. But the war you've been losing alone—we might just win it together."

And one by one, they nodded.

Back at the ruined Observatory, Yue Lan traced constellations across the broken sky, watching as stars flickered in and out of existence.

"What are you thinking?" Jin Long asked, stepping beside her.

She hesitated. "I saw myself die today. In three different futures. You held me each time."

Jin Long reached for her hand. "Then let's make a future where you don't."

She looked at him, eyes fierce and vulnerable all at once. "Only if you promise to fight for it."

"I already am."

Far beyond mortal perception, in a realm of pure void-thought, the Eclipse Mind began to shift. It had lost fragments of itself. A first in thousands of years.

New protocols were initiated. Contingencies long thought unnecessary were reactivated.

Subject: Jin Long – designated as anomaly prime.

Operation: Convergence Dawn initiated.

Deploy the Thirteen Echoes.

War was no longer a possibility.

It was inevitable.

And Jin Long had just lit the first torch of rebellion.
