Chapter 1 - The sword that was almost broken

Under the faint moonlight, as the night held its breath in dense silence, a legendary swordsman hobbled over the blood- and dust-soaked ground. Blood dripped from her temples, soaking the robes that once symbolized glory and honor. Her body trembled, but her eyes remained steadfast, like a small flame that refused to go out even as the winds of death began to blow around her.

She could feel that today was the last day of her life, along the painful road she thought that her life for a hundred years was quite a happy thing, although sometimes she felt hurt and lost people who were precious to her but she did not regret anything, she thought she had lived very well.

Being a hero who is respected by many people is something to be proud of. So she didn't regret anything, even now, when she was doing her duty as a hero, saving a village from a monster attack, winning a battle that made her succeed in saving many lives.

However, the monster attack this time was very unnatural, the number of tier one monsters in the small village made the attack seem as if it had been orchestrated by someone. She was also the only sword master sent there, there was no help, she thought the attack was small, that's why she didn't hesitate to come in a hurry.

After arriving, she realized that it was probably a grave specially made by her. She guessed that the grave was a gift from the emperor and the nobles, which was natural to her, since she had always been the main star instead of the imperial officials.

She was well aware that the taller the tree the more the wind blew. But even after realizing that fact she didn't care.

For her, even if her had to die, she could at least protect one life from that small village.

However, the only anger that gnawed at the recesses of her soul was the fact that the empire was willing to sacrifice their own people just for the sake of trapping her.Not because she was afraid of death, but because betrayal of the people was far more despicable than death itself.

She became very angry because of that, but she was now unable to do anything else, she could no longer even think about her angry emotions. The pain all over her body made her vision blurry.

Charlotte Vire, a commoner woman who managed to become the world's first Sword Master could no longer take one more step. The last step she had taken with great effort had caused her to fall.

The woman did not regret becoming an imperial sword, helping the emperor and the nobles... rather not because of those bastards, but because the empire and this world was her homeland.

Where she was born, where she grew up with her teachers, friends and comrades-in-arms. She really did not regret it.

But maybe if she was being honest, just maybe, just maybe-, the only thing she regretted was not killing those disgusting nobles, she should have done it for the betterment of the world.

She slightly regretted being so naive towards them.

Her eyes began to dim, Charlotte could feel this was the end of her life.

And so, she began to close her eyes, feeling and happily embracing the darkness, in those last moments before she closed her eyes completely, before her heartbeat stopped and before her mind ceased to function, she made one wish. Hope, if she was reborn, she didn't want to be a disgusting bastard like those nobles, if she had to meet people like them again she hoped she was a judge who had the right to judge them without feeling guilty about killing and torturing them.

At that last moment Charlotte laughed amusedly, imagining a request that was a little childish in her opinion.

After that strange little wish, her world went completely dark and as the darkness descended upon Charlotte, a portal opened and pulled her body through.

Inside a level B dungeon, South Korea. A group of Hunter with rank A as the leader faced monsters with great skill. Kim Jehun, a tall man with perfect muscles and black hair, moved with his black sword very quickly. One, two, even 10 monsters were torn apart by his sword.

His black eyes were like a wolf staring intently at the sheep. There was no chance for his pack members to intervene in the fight, or was it a massacre?

After a while of the wolf having fun with his sheep he stopped, more precisely it was because he had already eliminated the level B monsters in the dungeon.

Kim Jehun stood in the middle of the field with a sharp and disgusted gaze fixed on the corpses of the B-level monsters.

His group members only opened their mouths and stared blankly at him. Perhaps it was out of awe or horror? Or both.

"Wow... is this the power of a Rank A Hunter?" Kim Minho A short man with a cute face spoke up to break the silence.

"Well you can see for yourself... this is how it turned out." Lee Caein spoke. Once again she spoke, this time with a bit of bland laughter "Why should we be given this mission if he can complete it alone?"

"Don't complain Caein... it's a guild order, we just have to obey it." Choi Han, a large man with tank skills and a mature strategist in the team, reprimanded Caein who was always complaining about her work.

No matter how easy or difficult it was, the woman was always babbling, which made her friends pretty sure they wanted to shut her up with anything.

"Is everything settled?" Kim Jehun approached them casually.

"Yes, there was a crazy dog who was kind enough to lighten our work." Choi Han didn't even have to deal with Caein's sarcasm.

Seeing Kim Jehun's slightly offended face made Choi Han lower his head to apologize.

"Sorry, she's just a bit sensitive in the dungeon."

"That's right.. this lunatic is always hyperbolic when he enters the dungeon." Kim Minho did not hesitate to mock his chatty comrade-in-arms.

The three people just shook their heads as Caein clucked in annoyance.

"Then let's go back."

Just as they were about to walk out of the dungeon portal, suddenly a portal within the portal opened.

They swiftly took up fighting positions. Kim Jehun even though he was a Rank A Hunter who was known to be very talented felt uneasy seeing that phenomenon.

There had never been a previous instance in the dungeon of another portal opening other than the doors to enter and exit. That made him a little uneasy.

"How can there be another portal here!?"

As they stared at the blue portal warily a girl lying with blood all over her body suddenly appeared from it. After removing the girl, the portal simply disappeared, leaving them shocked and with questions in their heads.

"Wh-what was that?" with that Caein broke the momentary silence in the dungeon.
