Chapter 51 - Chapter 50

After staying at home for a few days to recover, Rowan went back to work in the army. Before leaving, he promised Sienna he wouldn't join any training sessions.

"Wife, don't worry. I promise I won't join the training. I'll just handle some documents."

"Alright, let's go then."

"You're going too today?"

"Yes, I won't be back at noon. I'm taking them outside the army base for a look."

The two of them left home together. Once they stepped out of the family housing area, they went separate ways.

Evergreen Team

"Tomas, your youngest son sent a letter." The accountant handed the letter to Tomas. "The delivery man saw no one at your house and left it at the team office."

Tomas took it and said, "It's probably from my daughter-in-law. That third son of mine, it's hard to get a letter from him."

"Hahaha, just brag about it. Everyone knows your third son sends money home every month."

After hearing this, Tomas didn't say more. He spoke to the accountant, "I won't chat anymore. I'll head back and let my wife see what's written. She's been waiting for it."

"Alright, go ahead."

When Tomas got home, Cuilan had already made lunch. After they finished eating, Tomas took out the letter.

"Wife, it's a letter from our third son and Sienna."

Cuilan scolded him, "You useless old man, why didn't you take it out earlier?"

Tomas grinned and said, "We were eating. I didn't want the food to get cold."

Cuilan didn't want to talk to him anymore. She snatched the letter, opened it, then realized she couldn't read, so she handed it back to Tomas.

"Quick, read it to me. What did Sienna write?"

Tomas quickly opened the letter and read it. After reading, he looked at Cuilan.

"Sienna wants us to move to the army base with them and live there in retirement. She said she misses us."

"Anything else?"

"They hope I'll stop being the team leader and move with you to the base. What do you think?"

After hearing the letter, Cuilan hesitated. They were only in their forties and still able to work. It didn't feel like time to retire.

Cuilan asked, "What do you think, old man?"

"I don't want to go. We can still work. If we go, we'll just become a burden. It's better to stay home. I can still lead the team for a few more years."

After thinking for a while, Cuilan said, "Let's visit them at the army base when things settle down."

"Okay."

"What do you think life is like for Rowan and Sienna over there?"

"Rowan will take good care of Sienna. Don't worry. If you want, I can ask our eldest to take you over first. It'll be busy with farm work soon."

Cuilan gave him a look. "If I leave, what will you eat during the farming days? Air?"

"I don't like what you're saying. I know how to cook. Besides, our eldest and second sons are home. I can eat at any of their houses. Why? I'm the father. Can't I go have a few meals?"

Hearing that, Cuilan felt a bit tempted. She really missed Sienna and wanted to see her.

"I'll go first. When you're done with the work, come too. Let's spend New Year together and come back after."

"Okay. I'll ask our eldest to buy the tickets. He'll be back just in time for the harvest."

The next morning, Tomas went to his eldest son's house. As soon as he entered, his son spoke.

"Dad, why are you here? Something wrong?"

"Your mom is going to visit Rowan. Go buy two tickets and send her over."

"Ah, Dad, you're not going? Should I take Mom there instead?"

At that moment, Tomas's eldest daughter-in-law came out carrying food. "Dad, sit down and eat. We can talk slowly."

"No need. I already ate. You all eat, don't worry about me."

Then he said to his eldest son, "I'll go after I finish the harvest. Your mom will go first."

"Alright, I understand. I'll go in a bit."

After making the arrangements, Tomas left. He still had to go back to work.

Military base

Sienna asked Rowan, "Honey, it's been many days. Dad and Mom should've received the letter by now. Do you think they'll come?"

"Not sure. Let's wait a bit more. If they don't come, they'll probably write us."

"Honey, I have a mission to go on. Commander Zhang asked for my help."

Rowan looked at Sienna when he heard this. "I'll go with you."

"No, you're still not fully healed. You can't go. Trust me, I'll be back soon."

"If I can't go, then you shouldn't either. You're not a soldier, so you can say no to the mission. Or we go together."

"No, I already agreed. I need to keep my word. I'm leaving tomorrow. Just stay home, rest, and wait for me. It's not dangerous."

Rowan could see Sienna was very firm about going. He didn't understand. His wife always put protecting him first.

"Babe, you're going on a mission without me? What if someone bullies me? I just transferred here. Are you really not going to stay and protect me or take me with you?"

Sienna thought for a moment, then said, "I'll have Felix watch over you. If anyone dares to bully you, I'll deal with them when I come back."

After that, Sienna went to find Felix. When Felix heard what Sienna said, his eyes widened in disbelief. "Sienna, what did you say? Say it again. Did I hear you wrong?"

"You didn't hear wrong. I'm going on a mission tomorrow. Before I come back, keep an eye on Rowan. Don't let anyone bully him."

Felix wanted to ask, who would even dare? Not to mention Rowan's own strength, most of the people in this military area had been trained by her. Who would dare mess with her man?

"Did you hear me? Take care of him. When I come back, I'll give you private training."

When Felix heard "private training," he quickly responded, "Heard you. Don't worry, Sienna. No one will dare bother Rowan."

Satisfied with the answer, Sienna went home.

"Honey, don't worry. No one will dare mess with you."

Meanwhile, Rowan had already arrived at the commander's office.

"Commander, I request to go on the mission with my wife."

Commander Zhang looked at him and said, "Rowan, that's not possible. I already promised your wife."

"Then please change it. I'll go instead. She doesn't need to go."

"That's also not possible. The papers are already submitted. The personnel is confirmed."

"Commander, don't forget—my wife isn't a soldier. This isn't her duty."

"I know. But we discussed it with her. She agreed. Also, we hired her to help with this mission."

After hearing this, Rowan left. When he got home, Sienna was already there.

Seeing him, Sienna asked, "Honey, where did you go?"

"Nowhere. Just walked around a bit. Babe, after this mission, quit the job, okay?"
