Chapter 9: The Beginning of the Dark Tunnel
As we won the battle, there was a strange sense of emptiness deep within me. I felt that this battle was only the beginning of much more complex confrontations. The Dark Lord seemed to be just one part of a vast network of mysterious forces planning something greater.
The general who led us into battle stood near the edge of the arena, fixated on details about the retreating enemies. We all felt a constant pressure in the air, as if something invisible was watching us.
I approached Lilia and said,
"Do you think we'll face greater threats than this?"
Lilia responded calmly, scanning the horizon. "They've begun moving their pieces around the board. And you, a Potential Copyist, have only seen the beginning of the battle."
"What do you mean?" I asked, skeptical.
"There is something much bigger than the Dark Lord. An ancient being may rise from somewhere in this world. And it's likely to manipulate everything."
I felt something uncomfortable running through my body, as if her words were hiding something deep inside.
