Chapter 2 - First Time in the Dungeon [1]

-----------------------------------------

[Chapter Size: 2813 Words]

----------------------------------

But still the Tower of Babel was said to be created by a God to stop the over-flow of monsters a 1000 years ago, and now, after a 1000 years, it is almost a shopping mall equivalent to the modern world, you can find anything on the Tower of Babel, from clothes, weapons, potions, guild offices to even spaces where the Gods / Goddess hold there meetings.

And in the basement of the tower was the entrance to the Dungeon. A huge hole of 10 meters in depth and even more in width, it was a tube like empty space.

Arriving at the plaza in front of the tower, I could see adventurers queueing up to enter the dungeon , which I promptly joined.

'How cool would it be if I can jump down the stairs while others are walking down' imagining the increase in my aura and the admiration and attention from everyone made me break into a huge grin,

The few adventurers next to me quickly walked away upon seeing the person next to them smile to himself.

"Be careful, some people may have gone mad due to staying for a long time in the dungeon and don't become like that person" a dwarf person behind spoke to his friend.

Coming to my sense and glaring at the dwarf, I wanted to fight but locking at his shining set of armor that screamed 'I am powerful' and the other four dwarfs near him, I excused him this time.

'Be grateful, I'm in a good mood, otherwise so what even if there are four more people and each one carrying hammers bigger than themselves.'

"Ahem" Faking a cough I quickly looked away and speed up my pace.

The first floor of the dungeon was similar to what I had heard about in the adventurer class held at the guild, the walls light-blue colored, and the wide hallway which I was currently standing in known as the beginning road, with corridors left and right branching from it at irregular intervals.

I went down one such corridor, but not deep enough to get lost as I did not have a map and this was my first time in the dungeon

Another thing that allowed me to go down the corridor and not follow the main path was that I had ample fighting experience, fighting against a wooden dummy if it counts. Also against the instructor who was a retired adventure in his advanced years, who had retired from adventuring and was working for the guild.

I was sure that I could defeat up to three goblins even if they came at me simultaneously without any effort.

*crack*

Upon entering the corridor, there was a cracking sound from the wall left to me, a lone goblin spawning there, but before it could even land on the ground, I immediately rushed up to it and stabbed it in its right abdomen with my sword defeating my first monster.

*GHUU.....*

It's opening roar dying down halfway.

This was also something I had learned from the adventurer class, if a monster is spawning, try to kill it before it can completely spawn.

Waiting for a monster to spawn and then fighting is just foolish, if there are more than one spawning, try to kill as many as you can before they spawn, if you're in a party, it's even easier, you can kill them with your party members.

*crack* *crack*

After I defeated the lone goblin, I think the dungeon got angry that the goblin had been killed before it could even spawn completely, the walls on three different places started to break with more goblins spawning, I being the only person and not in a team dashed towards the nearby goblin being spawned and finished it with a direct stab to its guts.

*KIEEEE*

By that time, the other two were already rushing towards screaming and waving their hands.

I swiftly dodged the first goblin's attack by side stepping it, slashing it in the back, deep enough to kill it and turn to ash leaving a magic stone, and turned around just in time to block the attack of the other goblin which now had somehow gotten it's hands on a dagger.

*TINGGGG"

After blocking another of its attack to my face, the goblin immediately jumped back, but I did not give it any time to launch another attack, following up with a thrust towards it's head before it could balance itself.

It blocked my attack, but overpowering the dagger which it was holding and pushing it back. a straight stab through it's chest and it turned to ash. Luckily it's magic stone was not damaged.

After fighting against these goblins, my only thought was that they were weak, or was it that I had become stronger somehow after getting my previous life's memories? Like in some stories the MC gets a power-up after reincarnation or transmigration? I'm not sure, but according to the class instructor the goblins on the first floor were a little more stronger than a completely grown adult, and here I was cutting them down like anything.

Also remembering about cheats, golden fingers and systems from those memories, I immediately shouted out, 'System', thinking that such a thing could not be real but was shocked the next second, followed by a wide smile on my face.

A red virtual screen had popped up in front of my eyes, with white text,

-----------------------------

[Status]

[Map]

[Skills]

[Quests(!)]

[Inventory]

------------------------------

Even though the quest option had an exclamation mark. I selected the status option, with the smile still on my face. The screen changed,

----------------------------

---Status---------

Name: Light

Race: Human

Age: 16

Level: 1 (20/100)***

Title: none...

Class: none...

HP: 1500/1500

MP: 2500/2500

CON: 15

SPI: 25

Status points: 0

-------------------------------

A simple status screen appeared in front of me. I was able to easily understand the status sheet due to the me on earth who was a hardcore gamer and had spent the majority of his college days playing games.

I was still alert towards the dungeon and my surroundings while looking at my status as I was still in the dungeon and monsters could attack at anytime.

I then once again looked at the virtual screen and clicked on CON stat, which brought up a more detailed explanation,

[ CON (Constitution): This stat increases the specs of your entire body, increasing your strength, agility, reaction time, endurance, etc. all aspects related to the body

An average adults stat maxes out at 10 points. ]

This meant that I was stronger than a normal adult. Next was the explanation of the SPI stat,

[ SPI (Spirit): This increases your mental strength, magic and magic resistance and anything related to spirit.

An average adults stat maxes out at 15 points. ]

Next, about Level, Title and Class,

[Level: You grow stronger as you level up, every level gives you 1 points increase in all your attributes and 2 free status points are given every 2 levels which can increase your attributes.]

[Title: Title's increase your attributes or grant you special skills.

Title's can be obtained by fulfilling certain conditions or quests.]

[Class: A class can be acquired based on your profession and helps in your progression.

Classes are automatically assigned based on-]

*crack*

As I was going through the explanation about class, there was the now familiar sound of wall breaking and two goblins were spawned, one of which was killed by me before it even landed, I felt a small vibration but ignored it.

*woosh* *swish*

The other one had the opportunity to receive a kick to it's shin from me and then another stab making it join it's other comrade and dropped a magic stone. I felt another vibration but again did not react.

I picked up the magic stones from the two goblins killed just now and the four I had killed before, went further into the corridor and made my way forward.

'It would be great if I could come across a enclosed room with a single entrance' just as I was thinking about it, I actually came across a room with a single entrance and it was also conveniently located at the end of the corridor I was in.

I wanted to find a room to go through the rest of the system descriptions, especially the map option as I think it would help me immensely in the dungeon.

Entering the room I called up the system once more, it had a new option this time,

-----------------------------

[Notifications(2)]

[Status]

[Map]

[Skills]

[Quests(!)]

[Inventory]

------------------------------

Upon clicking the notification option on the virtual system screen, on clicking it, another virtual screen popped up saying I had killed 2 goblins and each goblin gave me 5 exp.

[A/N: The four he killed before activating his system does not count...]

Okay so the notifications were the cause of the vibration.

There was an option to turn of the notification pop-ups for killing enemies at the bottom of the screen which I immediately used to turn it off, as being distracted by it during a fight was a no go.

Then returning to the main screen, I selected the map option this time.

This time the screen faded and a square block of map appeared in the top right corner of my vision, with a purple marker in the center, which I thought was me, and another strange thing was the entire map had a light red ominous glow which made me nervous, I tried to to select the map and it enlarged similar in size to the virtual system screen, with a legend at the bottom, explaining the mark and the colors related to it.

----------------------------

Legend:

• Host is marked with purple color.

• Enemies are marked in red color.

• Passive hostiles are marked in a light red color.

• Allies are marked in a yellow color.

• Every other neutral living being is marked in blue color.

• The map automatically updates as you explore new areas.

Note: Due to being in a special environment, you can turn off the passive hostile enemies.

--------------------------------

"The system is really awesome, it even allowed me turn off the passive red mark, wait no that means the entire dungeon is hostile and it is considered as a living entity by the system."

I had dismissed the rumors of the dungeon being alive was just bullshit before, but now I had to re-think it.

Another shudder went through me, just imagining that a massive monster? a living entity was below Orario and it could attack us at any time it got bored and wanted to pass some time.

But that is for the members of the top families to worry about, I'm just a little bug from the dungeon's perspective, no?

"Why do I feel that was a big red flag which I just raised. Well even if that's the case there is nothing I can do about it."

"Haaa" I let out a sigh trying to ignore those ominous thoughts and went back to look at the map.

As I looked at the map, the entire map turned white as soon as I check the option to turn off the light red color, with two red marks appearing near my purple marker. Zooming further on the map, they were monsters out in the corridor.

When I clicked on a red mark, a small pop-up window showed up, displaying the word goblin, it was same for the other mark too.

When I peeked through the entrance, I could see two goblins simply standing there, maybe because there were no one to attack? I was not sure.

Leaving the goblins to stand there, I went to check the next option, that is skills,

--------------------------

---Skills------

Gamers Mind (A)

Gamers Body (P)

Trait Maker (P)

--------------------------

Next clicking on their description made me feel that I really had become a broken character.

Their description were as follows:

-------------------------

Gamer's Mind:

An active skill which can be turned on or off, it can subdue your emotions and make you have a clear state of mind no matter the location or time.

Any skill or training you undergo will turn into data which can allow you to easily learn them at the fastest speed.

Will also reduce or nullify any mental strain you feel, so as to allow your concentration to remain at peek levels at all times.

Any spirit, mental or soul- related skills do not work on you.

---------

Gamer's Body:

A passive skill, your health and status has been digitalized meaning that as long as you have even a single digit (1) of health left, you will not die, and your hp & mp can be recovered after a single night of sleep.

Any injuries, even in case of amputation of your limbs or body parts, it will be regrown after consuming a certain number of health points.

NOTE: The amputated part will turn to ash as soon as your injury recovers, you can delay the recovery if you want.

Your body also can adapt to any extreme conditions at an astonishing speed.

This skill optimizes your body to execute any attack or skill in the best way possible to bring out 100% of the skill's or any action's effect.

----------

Trait/Skill Maker:

Every time you dive into the dungeon or risk your life, you have the chance of getting skills. The skills maybe positive or negative, but will not be life threatening, and will not negatively affect your combat power.

-------------------

After having a small dance due to the broken skills which I had gotten, I turned my attention to the next option Quests with an exclamation mark next to it.

----------------------

---Quests----

• Main Quest: Conquer the dungeon.

• Unique Side Quest: Defeat the One-Eyed Black Dragon.

• Special Quest: Reach the 5 floor in this expedition.

• Side Quest [1/5]: Join a Familia.

• Daily Quest: Defeat 200 monsters ( 6/200)

• Random Quest: Kill 10 monsters continuously in 5 minutes.

• Rewards are given once you complete the quest.

• NOTE: You can ignore the quests, there are no penalties for ignoring it, you will only get a reward if you successfully complete the quests.

--------------------------

"It's really good that there are no penalties for not doing my quests, just remembering some types of systems from my memories, saying complete this or I'll kill you or do something worse. I really don't want that type of system."

I once again felt thankful for getting such a good system.

"And also, the main and unique side quest already look like end game content, because even the great Zeus and Hera Familia's which had stood tall for a millennium were not able to conquer the dungeon. Also they were said to be wiped out without even managing to leave a single injury or scar on the One-Eyed Black Dragon and I have to take on both of them,"

"Anyway leaving aside the end game content. Now finally, the inventory, if it's the same as what I'm thinking, then it's also another awesome thing." I was excited to check the inventory option, as it could allow me to stay for extended periods in the dungeon.

As soon as I click on it, a screen popped-up, it has 10 columns x 5 rows, that is, 100 empty square boxes, with the explanation at the bottom as usual.

------------------------

---Inventory----

• Can store one item per square, and can stack 999 of the same type of items in one square.

• To store or withdraw an item you just need to think of it.

• The item stored can be of any size.

• NOTE: No living items.

----------------------------

"Yes"

Giving out an excited shout, I tried storing and withdrawing my sword from the inventory and was easily able to it just by thinking about it. Now I can stay in the dungeon for a longer time.

After going through all the functions in the system, the only thought left in me way how can I grow stronger and how fast can I grow stronger using the system, after all even after getting such a broken system, if I failed to grow stronger then it was just a waste.

When I focused at the map on top corner, the red dots had grown from 2 to 5, which means more goblins to fight and I can level up.

Then remembering that the gamer's mind skill which was off, I thought to activate it, and immediately a cool sensation spread through my mind and I could think of a dozen ways and tricks to fight the 5 goblins outside without taking even a single point of damage.

Gripping my sword tighter, I peeked through the small open into the corridor....

-----------------------------

-----------------------------

*** The system levels is different from the falna levels. Every 10 system levels is considered as 1 Falna level.

---------------------

A/N: I've modified the fighting scene and added a few more details! Sound effects! Explain the battle in a bit more detail! Is it good?
