Moonlight bathed the island in silver. Duel Academy was quiet, most students asleep—except for Kaito, who wandered the cliffs alone.
Something stirred in him. A pull, a calling.
"You feel it too, don't you?"
Kaito turned.
Standing behind him was a boy in dark Ra Yellow robes, eyes glowing faintly.
"You... who are you?"
"My name is Amon. I've been watching you. And so have they."
He gestured to the moonlit ocean. "There are forces buried beneath this island—ancient, powerful. Your dragons are drawn to it."
Kaito narrowed his eyes. "What do you know about my dragons?"
"Enough. Duel me. If you win, I'll tell you everything."
No crowd. No announcements. Just the two of them, and the cold breeze of fate.
The duel began.
Amon used a Spirit deck—one that returned monsters to the hand and played mind games with board control. Kaito struggled at first, losing resources to recurring Spirit effects.
But then he played Bingo Machine, Go! and searched for Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon.
He summoned twin dragons, overpowering Amon's defenses.
With a final blast, he won.
Amon lay back, breathing heavily.
"You really are chosen."
"Chosen by what?"
Amon looked to the stars. "By destiny. There's a war coming, Kaito. And you, with your Blue-Eyes, will stand at its center."
Kaito clenched his fists. Not just a second chance at life.
A purpose.
