Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Mischief Magic Spells

That night, Cedric's small class started. In order to avoid the teaching process being disturbed, Cedric and Link even specially applied to Professor Sprout for an abandoned classroom.

Here, Cedric completely demonstrated to Link the effects of various major mischief magic spells.

As for the target used to demonstrate the spell effects, naturally, it was Link himself.

Regarding this, Cedric was actually a little unwilling at first, because although the destructive power of these mischief magic spells was not strong, it was still uncomfortable to cast them on a person.

But Link insisted on doing so, because he wanted to more clearly experience the power of these spells, after all, he didn't just intend to use these spells for pranks.

From his many years of detective experience, judging from the current situation, these mischief magic spells could also be very useful in magical duels.

Under his insistence, Cedric could only follow through.

Thus, for two consecutive days, from the abandoned classroom next to the Charms classroom, one could hear Link's heart-rending screams.

Cedric had not lied, the taste of these mischief magic spells was indeed unpleasant; in Link's eyes, some of them had even excessively gone beyond the scope of pranks.

For example, the Pimple Curse. After being hit by the spell, large, ugly boils would immediately appear on the skin. The boils caused by this spell were not only ugly and frightening but also extremely itchy and painful, the feeling, frankly speaking, was no less than undergoing torture.

But Link's hard effort was not without harvest. Thanks to the simplicity of these spells and Link's diligent effort, after two days of hardship, Link had successfully mastered the Tickling Spell, a spell that makes a person continuously laugh, the Leg-Locking Curse, that binds the target's two legs tightly together, the Pimple Curse, the Dancing Steps Spell, and the Front Teeth to Club spell.

Of course, a short two-day time was still not enough for Link to gain much deep understanding of these spells, and in addition, the magic power required to cast these spells was several times greater than that needed for Sustaining Spells, so their current levels were still at Level 1.

Even so, Link was already very satisfied. Because after acquiring this set of mischief magic spells, he finally had a certain degree of combat ability, no longer just that reckless man who could only fight with fists and kicks.

When Link was content, the time also finally came to Monday.

"Good morning, Link."

"Good morning, John."

Hearing his roommate's weak and feeble greeting, Link casually responded.

In the past two days, Link had also had some contact with his roommates.

They were the standard type of Hufflepuff students, from Muggle families, ordinary, with nothing particularly outstanding, but also nothing particularly terrible.

What was worth mentioning was that their attitude toward Link was somewhat better compared to other Hufflepuff students.

Link felt this should be because Cedric had greeted them in advance. After all, the three of them were all fanatical Quidditch enthusiasts, and the one they worshiped the most was Cedric.

Whether for students or for office workers, Monday obviously was not a good day, and Link's roommates were no exception.

Link, however, was the complete opposite. He now couldn't wait to absorb new knowledge.

Thus, after greeting his roommates, he quickly dressed and went to the Great Hall.

Hogwarts breakfast followed the tradition of an English breakfast, greasy and with explosive calories.

Link looked at the sizzling sausages and roasted tomatoes on the table, then looked at his slightly bulging little belly, and finally reached out for the white bread and milk.

For the sake of his health, it was better to have a lighter breakfast.

This morning's class was Transfiguration. After finishing the not-so-delicious breakfast, Link directly went to the Transfiguration classroom upstairs.

Because it was still early, when Link arrived, the spacious Transfiguration classroom only had a few students scattered here and there.

What surprised Link was that Professor Minerva McGonagall was already early in the classroom.

Professor McGonagall was the head of Gryffindor House and also a very strict person, this could be seen from her appearance.

She wore square-shaped glasses, had black hair tied into a high bun, and wore a dark green robe.

Adding to these were her thin lips that seemed always tightly pursed and a pair of bright eyes, which together made up this middle-aged female professor who could make the vast majority of Hogwarts students afraid.

Yes, the students were mostly afraid of Professor McGonagall.

Because she could not tolerate any unruly behavior and had no patience for those who broke the rules, directly imposing severe punishments.

But all this did not mean she was a bad person.

In fact, according to the information Link had recently gathered, students actually respected and feared Professor McGonagall at the same time.

After all, aside from being strict, Professor McGonagall was also an extremely fair person. She would not, like some professors, favor students from her own House.

Additionally, she would selflessly extend a helping hand to students in trouble.

Link had heard Cedric tell many stories about Professor McGonagall helping particularly struggling Hufflepuff students.

These deeds made Link very interested in Professor McGonagall.

Just at this moment, Professor McGonagall, who had been standing on the podium organizing her lesson plans, seemed to notice Link's gaze. She suddenly raised her head and looked at Link, saying, "Mr. Flamel, is there something you want to say?"

Professor McGonagall's speech was very fast, and her words were clean and sharp, which gave people a sense of urgency and tension.

At this moment, Link felt a little nervous, but his years of experience in dealing with clients allowed him to quickly react and say, "Ah! No, I just haven't seen Professor McGonagall for a long time and missed you a bit."

Professor McGonagall obviously didn't expect Link to say this. She first froze for a moment, then her mouth corners slightly lifted a bit, almost imperceptibly.

"Thank you. Now please return to your seat. We are about to start class."

Professor McGonagall's tone did not change much, still that cold tone.

But Link still noticed the slight change in her expression just now, so he hurriedly responded "yes" and then smiled as he returned to his seat.

Just as he sat down, the students beside him cast at him looks of disbelief.

Other than the two Weasley brothers from Gryffindor, they had rarely seen anyone dare to talk to Professor McGonagall like that.

Link completely ignored their looks. He just quietly sat in his seat, flipping through his textbook and doing his preview.

This work was especially important to him because he had no foundation in Transfiguration at all, if he didn't do enough preview, he wouldn't be able to understand much of what Professor McGonagall was going to teach.

Just as he was seriously studying, a burst of noisy sound came from outside the classroom.

Link instinctively frowned and looked at the classroom door, only to see a large group of Slytherin students pouring into the classroom.

And the one surrounded in the middle by the crowd was exactly the Emily Victoria that Cedric had earlier reminded him to pay special attention to.
