Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: Snowfield

On the southern glacier surface of Greenland, a chubby seal was cautiously poking its head out from an ice hole.

This ice hole, in essence, was actually one dug by the Inuit for hunting them. Fortunately, there were no hunters nearby right now, so this seal, after probing a while, safely crawled out from the hole and lay flat on the ice surface.

However, before it could relax, in the sky not far from it, there suddenly appeared a distorted ripple.

This sudden scene startled the little seal, and it hurriedly dove back into the ice hole, leaving only half its head exposed, curiously watching.

Under its gaze, that distorted ripple quickly expanded, and in the end violently spat out five people.

"WTF!"

Link, who fell out first, twisted mid-air, landed safely, and caught Emily, then began swearing loudly.

As for Newt and the others, they landed solidly on the ice surface.

"Link, I feel so awful… blegh~"

Looking at Emily, who was covering her mouth and about to vomit in his arms, Link pulled out a pale green potion from his chest, fed her half, and poured the rest into his own mouth.

Only then did Link feel somewhat better.

Yet even so, Link's expression was still very unpleasant. Because that previous journey, was really too unbearable.

The tin bucket that Professor Kettleburn took out earlier was actually a Portkey.

This kind of specially enchanted magical object is usually made from unremarkable Muggle containers, such as the current tin bucket, or a mug.

As for the Portkey's function, it allows those who touch it to be transported to a designated location.

And compared to Floo Powder, Apparition, and other travel methods, the Portkey is not only more concealed and convenient, it can also transport multiple targets at once, and using a Portkey doesn't require rigorous training like Apparition does.

In light of these advantages, Portkeys have always been popular among wizards.

The Ministry of Magic, in the past, even set up a Portkey Registration Office to monitor the safe creation of Portkeys and integrate the magical transportation network.

The Portkey that Link and the others used this time was specially provided by the Ministry.

But the Ministry staff clearly didn't take care when making this Portkey, resulting in a usage experience even worse than Floo Powder by several times.

After recovering for a while on the glacier and cursing those Portkey-making guys from the Ministry, Link and the others finally fully regained themselves.

"Professor Kettleburn, where are we going next?" Emily asked from within Link's embrace. As she spoke, she was also looking around curiously.

The surrounding endless glaciers and the bizarrely shaped icebergs in the distance were things she had never seen before, and this made her appear a bit excited.

Upon hearing this, Professor Kettleburn looked toward Newt, who was currently patting the fallen snow off his grandson.

"Uh, no rush. The Ministry already gave me the coordinates before we came. Let me find them…"

Newt fumbled around in his coat for a while before pulling out something like a compass, "Aha! Found it! We're heading north next. The target this time is the central area of this island."

Upon hearing this, Link's brows furrowed slightly.

Link and Emily came for sightseeing, and compared to the results of the investigation, Link actually cared more about the scenery and experience along the way.

Unlike Emily and Professor Kettleburn, Link had actually done some research on Greenland.

He was very clear that on the world's largest island, the only things that could count as scenery, aside from the ubiquitous glaciers and icebergs, were the belt of oases along the coastline.

But now that they were heading north, they would undoubtedly miss the oases.

This was not good news for Link and Emily.

Unfortunately, Newt and Professor Kettleburn didn't seem to intend on asking for Link's opinion.

After confirming the direction, they released a dozen Forktail Hounds from Newt's worn leather suitcase that had a miniature internal spatial extension charm, and then set up two dog sleds.

Newt and Rolf used one sled, Professor Kettleburn took the other.

As for Link and Emily? They refused Newt's arrangement and instead used Transfiguration to create a reindeer ice-and-snow carriage that looked quite like Santa Claus' sleigh.

"Alright then! Let's go! Woohoo!"

With Newt's loud command, the sleds and carriage raced out together.

Watching Newt, who looked excited like a madman up ahead, Link simply shook his head.

Newt had collected and bred Forktail Hounds just for the chance to ride a dog sled one day.

Although Newt said that since they were on the land of the Inuit, they should use the Inuit people's tools to travel, this was to respect local traditions.

But judging from Newt's current behavior, Link strongly suspected this was just an excuse for Newt to have fun.

Regardless, the carriage still moved forward.

Under the protection of Warming Charms, Waterproof Charms, and the Transfigured ice plates, the interior of the carriage was actually very cozy.

So Emily and Link chatted and laughed as they discussed the oddly shaped hills and glaciers outside the window.

To be honest, at first it was quite fun. After all, those glaciers really did look weird.

Link and Emily even took out the little snacks that Little Button had prepared for them and began to nibble.

But just like Link had previously studied, Greenland was a godforsaken place. Aside from glaciers and oases, there really wasn't much else to see.

As a result, after almost two hours of staring at snowfields and glaciers, the excitement on Emily's face finally disappeared.

"Is there only ice and snow here?" Emily said, staring with red and sore eyes.

Hearing that, Link used a silk handkerchief to cover her eyes, gently massaging her through it.

"Stop looking outside. Staring at the snowfields for too long is bad for your eyes."

Link spoke softly, "Greenland really doesn't have much to see. But after this mission ends, we can still go to Iceland. That place doesn't just have the world's most perfect black sand beaches, it also has geysers, flower fields, and the aurora."

"Do you know? The black sand beach looks like the Milky Way. From what I've read, lots of people go there now to take wedding photos. And the aurora…"

Under Link's gentle description, Emily's body gradually relaxed.

She leaned gently on Link's shoulder, a smile on her lips, as if she were imagining those wonderful sights.

But just as Emily was fully immersed, Link's voice suddenly paused.

"Emily, I think… we've arrived at somewhere different." Looking at the sudden wondrous scene ahead, Link muttered softly.
